Such a well-maintained beautiful property, not a single tip of my fingers could find dust in any corner, clean, beautiful place, well a maintained garden and fireplace. If you are fond of wooden heritage look n feel house, nthg can get better than this one. The decor speaks the owner's choice
The food is yum and so tasty, perfect traditional south Indian style food is what we demanded for. One day we also had barbeque as suggested by the caretaker with some amazing roasted chicken.
The perfect experience of being treated like ur cared for. Mr Lionel was the caretaker, such a humble n kind man, always around when voiced for & Uday young boy, soft-spoken and humble.

Had a lovely stay at Saffron stays Milton Abbott estate Bungalow... Special shout-out to the staff headed by Mr. Lionel, they were simply awesome! All our requests were heard and implemented by the very courteous staff, especially Uday. The food deserves a special mention... It was great, we kept coming back from our sight seeing trips to have food at the home stay only... Thanks a lot for our lovely experience at Ooty!

The place was extremely unhygienic, there was mould everywhere, sofas were dirty and not properly cleaned. The rooms were cold and the provision of heating was limited. The food was pathetic, I had to go to the kitchen and guide the staff with cooking

This was one of the worst and terrible holidays in my life. This property has nothing special nor Saffronstays provides any basic(that becomes luxury for Saffronstays) amenities so that they can charge such a astronomical prices. There are actually 3 suites and 1 room for probably butler or servant in english era. If anybody ever stays in an old bungalow built for British official then they do not feel amazed or overwhelmed by this property. And Saffornstays people(Archana, Tejas and Tejaswaini) thinks this servant room is also a suite. Anyhow I booked from their website which is full of totally vague info. I called this people and got confirmed a B suite. But upon reaching there I was given so-called suite D which is actually servant room with a queen size bed without any cupboard and without any carpet for a family of three. Saffronstays should refresh their knowledge of hotel business by checking what suite actually refers to.
Anyhow after calling Archana for 2 hours nothing happened and ultimately I had 2 options- either stay there with a bed in floor or checkout. In a bit of fury( after travelling for more than 8 hours from B'lore) I wanted to checkout. But later checking that no hotel was available I had to stay there. After paying 7000/- bucks I had to sleep on the floor because of this irresponsible behavior of saffronstays. My wife and my kid had to manage in this small dingy room where we can see only the drivers parking lot from the window! What a great view for 7k.
More ever with 7K breakfast generally is included everywhere. Here you have to pay for that. For staying in a dingy and small room with minimum facility can't be termed as luxury thing whether it is homestay or resort. Saffronstays people should stay some of the homestays in India to know what luxury resort means. From my experience I got all the stuffs along with many in many of the homestays in Coorg, Wayanad, Kumaon etc. with even a less cost.
More frustrating fact was that when I sent email to CEO Tejas for all these, instead of calling us and apologized for their irresponsibility she passed it to hot-headed Archana(who doesn't know what is customer service and only shows aggression) who threatened us to check out immediately. My fault was I asked some oil and comb. These were luxury items for these people; they tried to give a homely atmosphere(homestay) but charged in the range of luxury hotels like Taj. This is the degree of hypocrisy of this so called 'HomeStay' Aggregator. I got severe cold by sleeping in the floor in a wintry Ooty and did not enjoy this trip due to the mental torture created by this people. I was about to go to the Ooty police station to lodge an F.I.R. against Saffronstays but didn't do so because of innocent caretaker and his family who were the only good part of the trip.
Saffronstay tries to imitate the business model of Ola and Uber but unfortunately only takes the bad things from them.
More ever there is a lot of violation which they have mentioned in their website. In their website the max number of people can stay is 14; but there were 17 people when I stayed and I got it confirmed from the caretaker. And if some official from Ador comes he will get all the preference instead of whatever your booking is. So they knowingly let the overbooking happen in this peak season(29th Sep-2nd Oct). They mentioned in their website that limited liquor is permitted. But what I saw was from dining place to outside veranda every body drank bottles after bottles. My wife had a very difficult time to get any place to fed our kid. I felt I was staying in a roadside liquor shops.
These people don't have any experience of any homestay/hotel/resort business. The CEO was so self obsessed with the Utopian hyped brand "saffronstays" that she failed to pay attention to the minimum need of the guest; also she forgot that the golden rule of any service business is make a dissatisfied customer to a loyal one. Instead of doing this she took some extreme steps that terrorised the guest.
Anyhow I will not stay any of Saffronstays properties in future. Better stay in the place where people know and focus the core business rather than running after money for a hyped brand(made by overnight with a help of very few reviews) which they are blindly obsessed of.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time out to share your feedback. Allow us to clarify the following - - You booked a room for 2 adults, and included a child above the age of 6, whom you did not pay for at the time of booking. - Since you were a group of 3 people, we allotted the smaller room whereas the larger group were allocated the larger room. - In recognition of your discomfort, we offered to refund the entire amount. This was offered despite the fact that you chose to continue staying at the Home. - Since we are not a hotel chain, we do not promise amenities such as room service or intercom facilities. We manage homestays and enable guests to experience owning a second home without maintaining it themselves. - Since this is a vacation home, the guests, all adults well above the legal drinking age, are permitted to enjoy as they see fit provided they adhere to the rules. There was no untoward incident by any guests who consumed alcohol. - We are a company that has been in the industry for 2 years now, and we continue to learn from our mistakes.. We are not merely an aggregator but we also take it upon ourselves to ensure certain standards of hospitality. We take guest feedback very seriously and take the appropriate measures to ensure that our guests have the best experience. We look forward to hosting you soon. Regards,

Pros:
1. Fire place
2. Service of Lionel and his wife
3. Food
4. The garden
Cons:
1. Too cold rooms. After paying such a high amount, i was not expecting a cold room . The heater provided in the room was not able to warm the room as the ceiling is very high.
2. The room rent was too high compared to the overall experience.

We chose this place because of the reviews that we saw on TripAdvisor and MMT. But this has been truly one of our worst experiences ever. Here are the reasons:
They spam you with too many messages before you come and literally ask you when you will arrive.
1. We updated every information that was requested for but when we arrived at the stay, the place was desserted. Noone even picked up a phone call - even the caretaker (if he exists). Our driver had to literally sneak into the kitchen to pull somone out and show us our room
2. Absolutely ZERO Covid protocols followed. Noone wears a mask or uses sanitizers. You can see people sneeze and still continue to clean utensils
3. Pathetic food! Cold and tasteless! They mentioned they will serve us upma but what we woke up to was ice cold idiyappam and watery coconut milk
4. Damn expensive worthless dinner - we were charged 300 for no quality chicken 65. No choice but to eat there but then! Truly not worth a bit
5. We requested a half hour extension post 11 to pack our stuff. They said not possible for a minute after 11 cause they have other guests coming - well, they do not allow you to step in before 1 pm
After seeing the hygiene, we refused to even have food there (even the breakfast).
Well someone even calls you after you share the review after your visit but when you tell them the truth they do not even bother to get back! Horrific.
We stayed in remote places before visiting this place and they had much better hospitality and service. Being in the centre of the city this is ridiculous!

Fabulous place to stay with large well appointed old world charming rooms. The prices are reasonable with breakfast included and they have free parking and good accommodations for drivers. The WiFi is dodgy at best and the mobile connectivity is often suspect at the resort. They cater to simple meals on order though reasonably priced there is room for improvement. Alwin and team takes care of all your needs

I booked for my parents and they absolutely loved it. Everything about this place was impeccable. Will surely be back soon.
Easily the best in Ooty!
It's also slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the town, so that helps as well

We had a very relaxed and rejuvenating stay at Milton Abbot. It was a culinary treat for us and the "Easter beef" was the really excellent!!! Lionel and wife will need more than 5 stars for their hospitality. The sprawling lawns and the quietness of a colonial estate was a great treat in the midst of the town.
