We overall had a good experience staying at the hotel. Rooms are spacious. Ambience of the resort is good, Food was decent. There was a new year party which was well organized. Staffs were courteous. There was bonfire at evenings. However we did find minor minuses. The wifi was initially not working, however on complaint they immediately rectified it, but it was still sporadic. The bigger minus was the hot water, which we were told is available only from 6-10 AM(although there were days when there was hot water beyond 11AM) and 6-10 PM. If we had a late breakfast or got up late and missed this 10 deadline, we had to wait till evening for a shower. It would be better if all rooms had a heater. Rooms could be bright and ventilated more with natural light.The hotel is situated on a highway and could be difficult if you want to walk around outside. Barring these minor minuses, we enjoyed our stay and we are likely to visit again and/or recommend this to others.

The property is centrally located and a must visit if you are interested in Victorian architecture. The property is arguably from the British Era(at-least the Victorian suits). The suit rooms are huge and are carved in wood from floor to ceiling. They have an amazing restaurant and the food is yum. F&B manager Bede and his team including Rajesh were ever ready to attend to all our need. I wish Bede managed the entire property as his personal touch was there in every meal served in the restaurant. Veeramuthu from house keeping is another staff who goes extra mile to satisfy his inmates. A must stay in case you are visiting Ooty. NB- try to book suit rooms as there is no balcony attached to the the rooms in this hotel.

Had a nice stay at west downs . York room was pleasant , food was good , resort had a beautiful ambience and is neatly maintained .The manager , Mr.Ravi Shankar, took care of everything needed for our stay . He was very welcoming and arranged for our travel within ooty too . All other housekeeping staffs were prompt and did a great job . Overall, The resort warmly welcomes it's guests

We spoke to Domonic yesterday asked him to book 5 rooms and take the card details he asked for bank transfer we were agree and send email to share the bank details. no response from him today after sending chaser he telling us now its sold out. Upon his confirmation yesterday on the recorded call we have booked flight tickets for 10 adults.
After speaking to him today he was rude un professional not at all apologetic. Asked for manager he said there is no manager , called Owner Ms. Jai Chandran no response from her as well.

Palatial property and an awesome vibe. Do try. Ultra spacious suites and beautiful scenery, outdoors, food. Horse ride available in property. My kids enjoyed a lot. The place is very cold but they provide heaters. Bathrooms are very large and luxurious.

Our stay at West Downs Resort was pleasant, thanks to the friendly and helpful staff. The serene ambiance provided a relaxing getaway. However more activities and improved food quality would enhance the overall experience. Hot water in bathroom shower is too hot there is no way u could mix it with cold water.

Stayed 3 nights and had to beg for towels. Room was dirty. Hot water only in morning for 2 hrs. Service is slow. Food was bad only breakfast idli dosa tea was good. Rooms are big. Manager didn't care to even apologise for all the problems we faced and was never there at the hotel. We had to make sure our own rooms was clean properly. Lady servicing us at breakfast please find a better hotel to work at. They we first charging my 3 year old a bed on the floor and breakfast which she would never even eat, after going to the reception and arguing we got it done which shouldn't have happened. Let's get the good parts out of the way: The place is well maintained. That's it.
While the place is a little away from the market area, it isn't quiet. Mysore Road is right alongside and there is constant traffic to disturb the peace. Don't go there if you are looking for respite from urban noise and chaos.
For the facilities, it isn't cheap. Infact, I wasn't quite sure why exactly it was that expensive, which perhaps was why there were only a few guests on a long weekend in vacation season. Low on value for money.
Breakfast was quite basic, and they will provide some extras upon request. But they can do much better. Food was average at best. Not value for money. Skip the included dinner/lunch options and explore the town for food instead.
The staff is polite, but slow and clearly forgetful. We had asked for a cake to celebrate a special occasion, an anniversary. They promised to deliver a few minutes before midnight. And completely forgot about the whole thing! Infact, we chose to keep quiet to see if they remember and apologise. They didn't. It was as if it never happened! Do not depend on them for any special occasions unless you want the celebration to be ruined.
Another thing that struck me as odd was that in the utter cold of the season, they demanded an additional Rs. 500 a day to provide a heater. Which was surprising in itself. Never before had we been charged extra for something so essential. It was like charging extra for AC in an expensive hotel in a desert.
All in all, quite miss-able. Which is sad for a place that looks so tidy. But you can do better.
I'd have rated it 3 stars, but took one star away for the appalling mistake of forgetting the cake. That is a big lapse.

"Horrible, Arrogant and Exorbitant"
I ended up with cup of coffee as my dinner as the buffet was finished and breads did not show up for over 30 minutes after ordering.
We stayed there for two nights 23-24 December and it was simply nothing more than an ordeal.
1. Checkin - They made me and my family wait for over 20 minutes even when we reached the hotel post checkin time of 12:00 noon with wet floor.
2. Liars - Claims and boasts to have a bar in there services menu available in room, however, they do not even have the license.
3. Food & Restaurant - They believe in "do not refill" buffet policy. The food is mostly finished within half an hour. Post this you are left to the mercy of the people in the restaurant. The staff and management thinks they are doing a favor to the visitors by giving them food after charging them for exorbitantly for stay with breakfast and dinner.
Special call out to there manager Kevin, who never turns up even after repeated calls through their own staff.

Had a splendid holiday with family for the 3 days we stayed. The rooms were comfortable & warm. The food at the resort was amazing & Chef Sella was fabulous. Kudos to the Kitchen & service team to have set a high standard. Superb food & great presentations.
