The hotel rooms are decent, service and food are basic and the location is pretty much in the heart of the town. There are restaurants within the premises as well as around the property. The bus Station is around 1-2 Km away and if you need a tuk tuk the reception can assist you with the same. There are ATMs, the botanical garden is 3 km from this hotel, and in fact, most of the sites are very close. Just beware of monkeys entity the room via the balcony - I've been in that situation as soon I checked In to the room and was lucky enough to spot a staff to help me in the situation.

Stayed here from 27.12015 till 31.1.2015.Overall a good hotel to stay.Spacious rooms, very very well maintained.Hats off to TTDC.Cleanliness, room service, ambiance, location all are good. Now comes the bad part. They say it complimentary breakfast but they serve only typical South Indian food which is not acceptable.People from all over India comes here, they should keep this in min..All variety of food is there in Restaurant menu but they are not available.Whatever is available is nice and also cheap.Mr.Parakash present in the front desk was the most helpful there. He is very nice.He helped in all sort of travel, sight seeing needs.Overall Hotel staff is helpful. But another point, every waiter, room service, etc all demand tips on the face, this is also pathetic

The travel was 800 kms lonely drive from calicut to Chennai via ooty .. Only some mad people like me will take that route that too while driving alone, OOty was a pit stop so looked for a budget hotel. TTDC govt run hotel I stayed here before also but that was way back in 1999 during our study tour for graduation , It was nostalgic going back to stay in a place after 15 years though i would have came to ooty a 100 times .

Room- Hotel interior is renovated so at par with any 2 to 3 star hotel , spacious , 32 in Led TV , spacious Wash room ,24 hrs hot water , Balcony. Extra blanket ( temperature at 2 degree outside)
Bar - Very decently charged and TTDC among the very few bars where you will get original liquor.

Staff - Very Courteous and well mannered professionals.

A normal Complimentary breakfast,Spacious Car parking

What more do you need for 1500 rs in a tourist destination .
All together a 4 from me out of 5

I stayed in the pent house & cottage for 1 day each. Here are my list of pros & cons of the hotel.

Pro's
1) Nice location - its located at a 2mins walk from charring cross (the main market area).
2) Spacious rooms - I found out penthouse to be enough spacious compared to cottage where space for living room (with only 2 sofa's in a separate room) felt getting wasted.
3) Good Breakfast - The food was yummy, few options (dosa/vada/idly/poori masala) and vegetarian.
4) Penthouse was on 3rd floor with a (almost) private terrace area

Con's
1) No balcony in cottage
2) Old furniture and not well maintained
3) Lifts were not working
4) They want hard copy of your booking (and not email), had to go to a cyber cafe to get a printout.
5) Odd check-in/check-out time - it was 10am, usually see it around noon so that you get enough time to get up late and get ready .

Also uploading few pics of both the rooms here!

TTDC Hotel - Ooty
The first thing I would like to say about this hotel is it is the best economic hotel in the city that is suited for middle income group people.

Location Highlights: TTDC Hotel is situated in a prime location - the charing cross which is the commercial location of Ooty. It is about 1.5 km from the Ooty bus terminus from where you can get buses or cabs to nearby sight seeing locations and to Coimbatore, Mettupalayam or Coonor as well.

Trip description:I along with my 3 other friends went for a week end trip to Ooty. We stayed there for 24 hours and we stayed in a doube bed room. You can have the option of having an additional bed in the same room (with a meagre cost of Rs.100 extra) in case if you are 3 members. Remember that we went in an off-season and hence we had off-season tartiffs. The on-season tartiffs may vary. You can have a look at www.ttdconline.com for knowing the tariffs / season details. Also you can book online accomodation / travel packages in this website.

Facility / Infrastructure: The hotel excels in all basic facility. They doesn't compromise with cleanliness just because it is economic. The rooms are neat and clean with clean bathrooms and toilets. Geysers (water heater) are provided with unlimited hot water any time. I heard there is a room-heating facility too for additional charges. But you need to check on this. The room has a TV, internal phone, a copule of chairs and a cup-board with ward-robe apart from the two-beds with bed spreads and woolen bed sheets. The room may measure around 12"*12". Good enough for two persons. But if you have a third one, then they can only provide the additional bed. No cot is provided. It is hard to sleep in the bed in the floor.

Room Service: Room service is one of the best I have ever seen in the hotels. The service boys are dedicated in their work and are friendly in nature.

Restaturant: There is a restaurant attached along with the hotel. We took breakfast there which was quite good. Beleive me when I say this, this restaturant serves better tiffin items than any other hotel nearby charing cross. It also fits into your budget. Lunch - I am not sure as we have never had lunch here for both the days. We had it in Saravna Bhavan (not Chennai's popular foodchain; it is a local restaturant) where we had a good food but a bad service. Ultimately it is food for which we vote!!!

Overall TTDC hotel is a very good hotel to stay for those who expect the trip to be economic but comfortable as well. I would say it is one of the best hotels I have visited.

Thanks,
Sathish.

One can opt to stay here if he really wants to enjoy the serene beauty of Ooty. It's one of the best budget hotels in Ooty. Situated in a prime location, the hotel is very near to the market area. Rooms are well maintained and quite spacious with all basic modern amenities. Food quality is good. If you wish to stay over here then certainly u won't be disappointed.

Well located; just above the main market area, but secluded enough to be away from the hustle and bustle to make one really comfortable. The suits are quite spacious and well maintained. With additional beds, on a charge, even a family of four can stay comofrtably in these spacious suits. The restaurant is reasonably big, but the choice of food is somewhat limited. Those who are comfortable with South Indian type of food should relish this place. Being an Hill Station, the rooms / suits are priced according to season. For a decent stay, which is affordable, I will definitely recommend this Hotel, while you are at Ooty.

Stayed with my family of four in TTDC Ooty cottege. The location is excellent. It is bang in the city yet far from regular hustle. Market and many tourist spots are at walking distance. the package offered included breakfast which is good if you are startting for early sighseeing. The room was pretty big to accomodate family of four with big and neat bathrooom, overlooking lawn, ample parking. The hotel staff was quite cooerative and helped to chart out itenarary for local sightseeing and arrnaged for taxis. There is a bar attached to the hotel which has a seperate access and is not part of dining hall. I would recomment staying at this place.

We stayed in this hotel on 7th & 8th April 2013. We were a family of four (wife, husband, 9 yrs and 11 yrs old). Booked a suit. Pretty big room (20 ft x 20 ft), big bathroom, changing room, and another small room. Very spacious. Geyser worked perfectly. Rooms were clean. After first day of stay, cleaning person came and offered to clean the room.

In a good location and away from the noise. Climate was awesome. Restaurant food was good.

We are vegetarians. For breakfast, menu was dosa, masala dosa, idli, vada, bread omlet, puri, coffee and tea. For lunch, thali is the only option. For dinner, you can order fried rice, chapathi, dal fry and one veg curry (one day option was paneer masala, and second day option was mixed veg curry). They also have non-veg options as I saw people getting it.

Booking was easy as I booked through TTDC web site. Check-in and check-out was also easy and fast.

You can book day trips, at front desk, for local sightseeing, or to Pykara & Mudumalai forest. They will get a Swaraj Mazda that will fit about 25 people and fetch people from different hotels/locations and start the trip. We paid Rs. 200/head for Pykara & Mudumalai trip. I highly recommend this trip if you kids and like nature (pykara waterfalls) and wildlife.

Cons:
1. When we ordered bread omlet, and bread slices given were stale. So better stick to fast moving dishes like dosa, idli etc for breakfast.

Overall, pretty good stay. We had fun. Especially the Pykara & Mudumalai forest reserve trip, boating in Ooty lake and botanical garden. Toy train travel, 5 hrs ride, from Mettupalayam to Ooty was fantastic.

This Hotel is within the city and has a huge campus, in terms of Infrastructure. We were attended by rude gents sitting on the reception, and were asked to wait as the rooms were not available. The room charges are equivalent to three or four star hotels. We took a Villa at TTDC and have to leave the room, the next day morning. The rooms were not clean, neither the matress nor the pillow. You will find spider cobwebs on the walls, and it looks like the management doesnt look into the room hygine.
