Room- Hotel interior is renovated so at par with any 2 to 3 star hotel , spacious , 32 in Led TV , spacious Wash room ,24 hrs hot water , Balcony. Extra blanket ( temperature at 2 degree outside)
Bar - Very decently charged and TTDC among the very few bars where you will get original liquor.
Staff - Very Courteous and well mannered professionals.
A normal Complimentary breakfast,Spacious Car parking
What more do you need for 1500 rs in a tourist destination .
All together a 4 from me out of 5
Pro's
1) Nice location - its located at a 2mins walk from charring cross (the main market area).
2) Spacious rooms - I found out penthouse to be enough spacious compared to cottage where space for living room (with only 2 sofa's in a separate room) felt getting wasted.
3) Good Breakfast - The food was yummy, few options (dosa/vada/idly/poori masala) and vegetarian.
4) Penthouse was on 3rd floor with a (almost) private terrace area
Con's
1) No balcony in cottage
2) Old furniture and not well maintained
3) Lifts were not working
4) They want hard copy of your booking (and not email), had to go to a cyber cafe to get a printout.
5) Odd check-in/check-out time - it was 10am, usually see it around noon so that you get enough time to get up late and get ready .
Also uploading few pics of both the rooms here!
The first thing I would like to say about this hotel is it is the best economic hotel in the city that is suited for middle income group people.
Location Highlights: TTDC Hotel is situated in a prime location - the charing cross which is the commercial location of Ooty. It is about 1.5 km from the Ooty bus terminus from where you can get buses or cabs to nearby sight seeing locations and to Coimbatore, Mettupalayam or Coonor as well.
Trip description:I along with my 3 other friends went for a week end trip to Ooty. We stayed there for 24 hours and we stayed in a doube bed room. You can have the option of having an additional bed in the same room (with a meagre cost of Rs.100 extra) in case if you are 3 members. Remember that we went in an off-season and hence we had off-season tartiffs. The on-season tartiffs may vary. You can have a look at www.ttdconline.com for knowing the tariffs / season details. Also you can book online accomodation / travel packages in this website.
Facility / Infrastructure: The hotel excels in all basic facility. They doesn't compromise with cleanliness just because it is economic. The rooms are neat and clean with clean bathrooms and toilets. Geysers (water heater) are provided with unlimited hot water any time. I heard there is a room-heating facility too for additional charges. But you need to check on this. The room has a TV, internal phone, a copule of chairs and a cup-board with ward-robe apart from the two-beds with bed spreads and woolen bed sheets. The room may measure around 12"*12". Good enough for two persons. But if you have a third one, then they can only provide the additional bed. No cot is provided. It is hard to sleep in the bed in the floor.
Room Service: Room service is one of the best I have ever seen in the hotels. The service boys are dedicated in their work and are friendly in nature.
Restaturant: There is a restaurant attached along with the hotel. We took breakfast there which was quite good. Beleive me when I say this, this restaturant serves better tiffin items than any other hotel nearby charing cross. It also fits into your budget. Lunch - I am not sure as we have never had lunch here for both the days. We had it in Saravna Bhavan (not Chennai's popular foodchain; it is a local restaturant) where we had a good food but a bad service. Ultimately it is food for which we vote!!!
Overall TTDC hotel is a very good hotel to stay for those who expect the trip to be economic but comfortable as well. I would say it is one of the best hotels I have visited.
Thanks,
Sathish.
In a good location and away from the noise. Climate was awesome. Restaurant food was good.
We are vegetarians. For breakfast, menu was dosa, masala dosa, idli, vada, bread omlet, puri, coffee and tea. For lunch, thali is the only option. For dinner, you can order fried rice, chapathi, dal fry and one veg curry (one day option was paneer masala, and second day option was mixed veg curry). They also have non-veg options as I saw people getting it.
Booking was easy as I booked through TTDC web site. Check-in and check-out was also easy and fast.
You can book day trips, at front desk, for local sightseeing, or to Pykara & Mudumalai forest. They will get a Swaraj Mazda that will fit about 25 people and fetch people from different hotels/locations and start the trip. We paid Rs. 200/head for Pykara & Mudumalai trip. I highly recommend this trip if you kids and like nature (pykara waterfalls) and wildlife.
Cons:
1. When we ordered bread omlet, and bread slices given were stale. So better stick to fast moving dishes like dosa, idli etc for breakfast.
Overall, pretty good stay. We had fun. Especially the Pykara & Mudumalai forest reserve trip, boating in Ooty lake and botanical garden. Toy train travel, 5 hrs ride, from Mettupalayam to Ooty was fantastic.
