Entering Lymond House is like stepping into a chapter of H G Wells The Time Machine. The furnishings, the fittings, the fireplaces, the floorboards: I could go on but I'm sure you get the picture. Built in 1856 at the height of the British invasion, Lymond retains all that the colonists brought to India: a little bit of Olde England... More

We turned up unannounced and were lucky enough to get a room. The fixtures and furnishings were amazing, and the house had great character. The staff went out of their way to help us. In particular they went to enormous trouble to help me send a parcel back to New Zealand. The Nilgiri walk they arranged for us to do... More

A large family group rented this property over the christmas break. We had a delightful time. The rooms are spacious and charming. Most have working fireplaces which were lit in the evenings- a necessary luxury to keep the winter chill at bay. The gardens are beautiful and filled with mature trees, flying squirrels, birdlife, and flowering plants. The head caretaker-... More

Spent two nights last week, we travelled as a group and booked all 3 suites. The rooms are exceptional, old wold charm. The property is 150 year old, Alex the caretaker mentioned it being a factory guest house before being converted to an hotel. There are only 6-7 rooms so this is more like an expensive homestay experience rather than... More

Lymond House is very beautiful and well preserved given that the place is about 165 years old. You must visit this place if not to stay but to at least take in the old world charm. Every little nook and corner, antique furniture and decorative pieces have some history. It is not a place where you will get the facilities... More

Place was excellent, but the service was pathetic. There is no caretaker present usually in this property and so most of the times, the water went out or there was no water coming in taps. If you want a bill for your travels, DO NOT take the services provided by the caretaker - Joe. We did the same, and this... More

Charming little place. Had a great weekend at Lymond house this April. Beautiful garden blooming in a riot of colours. Scores of birds enlivening the place. Clean rooms and prompt service. Was very pleased with all the staff. Even the gardeners were all smiles and ever ready to show us around and teach us a bit about the flowers. Food... More

Stayed with family for one day in Lymond house. The bunglow has more than 100 years of history and it is kind of preserved well for all these years. The chai in the lawns was quiet nice and relaxed. The caretaker was very attentive got our kids need for less spice in food. The food was tasty and first time... More

I have not visited this property but made a booking, though, a week ago. For starters their so called online booking is messy and buggy. After going through a long wait and a few retries, we managed to get through the booking to one of the rooms. Only to know the next day that the rooms were actually sold out... More

Whilst the staff tried their hardest, this place disappointed on a number of fronts. We were "upgraded" into a suite by our agent but, although this was spacious, it was rather gloomy and the main room required lights on all the time. Much of the furnishings were of the "heritage" variety but, even allowing for their antiquity, some would have... More
