Improvements:
1. Improve hygiene in rooms and breakfast area as too many flies around.
2. Floors thoroughly wet after room cleaning and water logging in bathrooms.
Cute Lil cottages....Descently placed and decorated rooms, ok food.
Good house keeping...view beautiful.good landscaping.
Away from busy commercial ooty yet close.
Must stay for a short stay when u look at value for money.
Pros: Mesmerizing view
Cons:
1) Terrible Service
a) no one to attend to your requests
b) you will have to wait for almost an hour for even a glass of water
2) everything is outdated - bed, dressing table, chairs, curtains, everything else and room itself
3) bugs and spiders everywhere and no effective solution for the same - the guy will just catch hem and leave outside your room.
Here is a story of my spider and service experience - My room had multiple spiders, they were as big as my palm. I was devastated by just finding them in my room. I called reception to inform the same and they said "I'm sending a service guy immediately". Well the service guy showed up after 1.5 hours and did the needful. Again after an hour or two there was another spider of the same size and I called for help and again the same thing, the service guy is nowhere near my room for another 2 hours. I was frustrated and took my bag and just went to reception and asked for another room OR exit from hotel. The guy at reception said "there is no room available and if you want you can leave". Folks the point to be noted is that the reception guy said this at night! around 1AM.
He was not willing to clean the room, did not provided service, was not ready to provide another room (and believe me rooms were available) and was ready to give me a checkout at night at 1AM. where would have I gone at that time?? I had no choice but to stay in the same room.
5) Next morning when I asked to book a car for my departure, they asked for additional 100rs just to book a car
Please, Boycott this place!!!!!!
Then we met these crooks which this resort has employed as their staff and our nightmare started.
They said that the room is not available and they cannot provide us accommodation over there, but can adjust us in a nearby "villa" that their top management folks stay in. They said a guest had extended their stay in the last moment and hence cannot provide the accomodation.
Arguing with them, asking them to move the other guest to the villa instead of us or calling up cleartrip didn't help. After wasting an hour with them and with my 3 yr old kid and the long journey we had no option but to check out their so called "villa".
Then they took us to a shabby little house fit to be a brothel at the most (and I am not joking). The room was small with the overpowering smell of phenol all over the place. Next to the room was a dormitory kind of thing with ugly mattresses lying on the floor. As soon as we saw the place I could make out that these people are taking us for a ride and left that place saying that they should process the refund, to which the guy agreed and left.
It was peak season, but we somehow managed to get another accommodation. Later we thought of checking with cleartrip the same day to ensure that the refund order is in place. To our utter surprise the cleartrip guy said that your accomodation is confirmed and they see that I have checked in and there cannot be any refund provided. They said that they have got a confirmation message from Sagar holiday resort that we have checked-in in their villa.
I spent around 3 hours calling back and forth the cleartrip guys and the hotel staff. Finally after doing a conference with the cleartrip manager and one of the staff I could convince that we are not infact staying in their hotel. If I would not have done this call the same day then I am sure these crooks would have easily gone away with this money.
By the time this ended it was 9:30 p.m. and Day 1 in Ooty went down in my journals as the worst vacation day of my life.
I would advise you guys to be very carefull of the staff in case you do plan to book here and somehow do get a written confirmation from them on the room availability. Better still have a backup option in place. Even better is not to include this place in your itinerary at all. The place has a nice view, but you may have to loose your sleep with the cunning staff at your back.
Remember... you have been warned :-)
The check-in was smooth. The resort is located at hilltop giving amazing view of the valley. Due to summer, crowd was more and so we spent most of our time at the hotel itself. The resort was quiet which was respite from maddening chaos at ooty. Food and service is ok and can be improved.
Rooms are large and well maintained. Every room has sofa, small dining table. The balcony is wide and was equipped with few chairs so that you can sit, relax and enjoy the breeze.
Only issue we had was to reach there as there is no proper sign boards.
Would definitely recommend this resort to others!!
The only good about this resort is the view from the balcony. Every room has a balcony with great view.
Negatives
1. Very poor Maintainence (Avoid rooms that has carpet - It really smells bad)
2. You have to walk a lot to get into room from reception (Family with Infant avoid this resort as you want to climb stairs)
3. No play area for kids or to hangout (It has got one but this is very small and not maintained well)
4. People at reception was not kind. They are not ready to help you in any regard.
5. No lights at common area. Its so dark in the night (Be careful when you get down in stairs at night)
6. Finally - Not worth for money.
Staffs were cordial... Food Quality was good... But naturally South Indian styled cooking...
Obviously suggested to everyone to stay at this hotel to have the breath taking view of Ketty Valley... Nowhere from ooty one can have this scenic beauty...
Journey started reaching the reception desk which was very co-operative even when i reached late in night. There was only one boy who attended us very diligently.
Then we were routed to the cottage, the furniture was Ok, old style. We were feeling good that we are stepping down hill with in resort to reach the cottage but it became a challenge for us to come back as there were several steps to climb up.
On enquiry about - "how about old age people who can;t use stairs?" the response was awsome.. we were shown a a trolley lift, which is used to serve this purpose.. nice..
Food quality in kitchen (breakfast buffet) was awsome. nice quality, however you may have to pay additional for certain things (do not remember now)
Then came the travel desk , the guy on travel desk was very nice marketting professional, although the prices were a little on higher side for one day or 2 day sight seeing trip...
Now comes the staff - a little slow service but not to worry, afterall you are on vacation...
As usual, our cottage got the afteraffects of rain and rain water felt like entering our cottage (without our permission :) :) ) which was thrown out with the help of resort staff..
Nice HILLY experience.. ;) :)
We spend good family time in cottage balcony area, in the lawn down hill. evening Tea in the mesmerising and mild coldness was awsome..
Overall, nice stay...
"Rooms at the top are best. but again only for the view; service/hygiene/staff still remains pathetic."Read full review
