Stayed in hotel Darshan for 2 nights. We booked Premium (Lake view) room on 6th floor which had king size bed, a sofa and a balcony. The parking lot is a bit small and external look of the hotel was not very appealing, but the room and the upper floors were very good. Bathroom is of comfortable size except that the bathing area is a bit small. 24 hours hot water was available in tap, shower and wash basin. Hair dryer and electric kettle (with tea bags and sugar) are available but we did not use them. Water filter is fitted in the room where we could drink and fill our bottles.
Vegetarian, tasty food is served at the restaurant though all the items mentioned in the menu are not available if we want a quick dinner.
Evening snacks on the 4th floor open tarrace is expensive. The tea and milk we ordered to room on all the 3 days were good. Hotel and restaurant staff are very friendly and polite.
Overall a very good experience and pleasant stay. I would recommend this hotel to others.

It is an average hotel. Honestly speaking the first impression at Hotel Darshan was 'naam bade aur darshan chhote'. Considering the ratings and the price I had paid for the hotel, the expectations were higher. Check-in was not very smooth as the person at the front desk seemed to not know much of Hindi/English and for 5-10 minutes there was no one to carry the luggage.
The Hotel exterior is nice. The rooms are spacious and the furnishings are ok. Premium Lake view rooms have a balcony and one can clearly see the famous Ooty lake from there (though as the water is not clean, it isn't a great sight). The Hotel does have parking space and also has a lift from the 1st floor. Hot water (at least in the 6th floor rooms) is not available 24×7, though it is available in the morning. The hotel doesn't score high in cleanliness whether it is the towels and beddings, the plates at the buffet breakfast or the Hotel common areas, the cleanliness would not give you the impression of a star hotel or justify the money paid. The buffet breakfast provided is average in terms of variety and quality. Plastic bottles are banned in Ooty, so the Hotel doesn't provide mineral water but they have Aquaguard in the rooms. Bathroom fittings need some repair. Also they take refundable deposit for providing blanket to the driver.
Overall our stay was average but after exploring Ooty for a few days, one gets a feeling that Ooty doesn't have too many great hotels in the 3-4 star category (though there are a few 5 star hotels which may be good), so it may still be one of the better options in Ooty.

If you are going for this hotel you need to get a room in premium to get a super view of the boat club. Rooms are spacious with a sofa big enough for another person to sleep in it. Vert near to Ooty railway station. They will charge you 150 rs in cab from railway station to this hotel. Plus if you want to travel to nearby place you can take auto whom will charge 100 rs to 150 rs to gardens.

This is one of the Hotel that is located near Ooty Boathouse and the view from the Room balcony has a good view over the lake. The hotel has both pros and Cons.

I stayed during New Year Eve and they conducted events and dinner was nice. There were frequent Power fluctuations during the stay which was disappointed. They have only one lift for the entire 6 floor which adds more time to wait for going up and down.

Often Water is not coming in the Washrooms (both Hot and cold) and we need to keep calling them often. The Breakfast menu that was provided has limited varieties.

They don't have Cupboards to keep our things and No chairs in the room. Being a reputed hotel, the heaters should have provided complimentary, But they are charging an amount for the same.

The room which I stayed seems to be renovated (premier rooms). Apart from view from the room i am not satisfied

Please do not go here looking at the rating of this hotel, it is full fake, the rooms are pathetic, washroom is dirty, all walls covered with mold and mosquitoes everywhere. The food is really bad with no options, even the menu they had given us for room service was not available when we tried to order, breakfast buffet had next to no options, we literally ate stale cold bread n butter everyday, the rooms have no ventilation, one table fan is provided which is kept on the floor, next no no air was reaching us, it's like being trapped in a boiler room with mosquito and bad smell. Service staff is of no use, they pretend to not understand anything we say and while billing they speak proper english and answer everything, the house keeping staff was the worst, he always made faces if we asked for anything, even basic things like clean towels or water or changing bedsheets or cleaning room was only done if we called them 10 times. We thought of changing the hotel everyday but we had paid more than 26k here for 3 days and there was no refund option. I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. Please go here at your own risk. Do not believe in any photos posted on any booking site by this hotel.

When we booked this hotel was bit skeptical of the crowd and busy street near to hotel as it is in close proximity of Ooty lake. To our surprise, it was just opposite, located at quite and pine tree covered road and overlooking Ooty lake, with just 2 mins walk to lake. Hotel has lift so staying with elderly parents was not a problem. We stayed in suite room which had a small seat out part with sofa and room separated by glass door. Room was of decent size for 1 or 2 nights stay. Bathroom and rooms were clean with tea coffee maker and all-time hot water. In front of rooms there is common roof type area with swing etc from where you get view of ooty lake. Dont miss the morning misty view of the lake. Reception area is small and may get bit crowded. Hotel has safe parking area. We took ala carte for dinner and they have cook from northeast, who makes great veg Chinese dishes. North Indian food was also great. It's pure veg hotel.
Breakfast spread and taste was decent with fresh made Dhosa/Idly, Bread, Puri etc. They have smaller seating area for breakfast compared to rooms they have. So if hotel is fully booked, breakfast place gets bit busy with line for Dhosa/ Puri. So better to go early for breakfast. if you dont have car, you can just hire auto to visit all sightseeing in Ooty town like Botanical garden etc.

A bunch of uncooperative and arrogant staff.

I am currently staying in this hotel and an incident has happened with me.

My room key got misplaced within the hotel premises. When I brought it to the hotel staff's knowledge, they said they don't have another key and asked me to change the room immediately as they will have to change the entire door lock and would cost INR 2000.

On the other hand, they had the master key with which they opened the door to shift my luggage to another room. I told them if they had master key, there is no point of changing the lock, rather they could make a duplicate key for which I was ready to pay the cost upto INR 500.

I requested them to show me CCTV footage, so that it could be tracked as I had a bit idea where it could be and if somebody had picked it up. Still, they insisted me to change the room first, then only they would show me CCTV footage. I agreed to their condition but even then they haven't turn up yet and giving all excuses that the operator has gone out etc etc.

I come from the travel background and have travelled around 30 countries and various hotels but I haven't heard or experienced something like this where the complete door lock has to be changed if the key is misplaced.

Also, its not worth staying in the cost they charge per night.

Wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Very rude front desk staff.

Its morning strict 10 am check out no flexibility will be extended at any cost.

Not recommended at all. Very good infrastructure spoilt by people.

You must make 100% payment first.

Food here is the worst. Even staff don't like it. Servings are so small that's not even enough for kids.

Take Hotel Darshan if you want to spoile your holiday.

Clean, cozy hotel which is at a great location overlooking directly at Ooty Lake. The view was just mesmerizing for me. Hotel Staff went out-of-the-way to help, especially Chintoo Mahato. There were multiple options rotated everyday for breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a good experience with family and easy accessibility to city sightseeing locations.

Located exactly opposite to the boat house with great view to the lake.

Room spacious, maintained well, staffs were responsive, attentive for requests.

Have their own restaurant , but only vegetarian food is served, quality was good, but quantity was not sufficient.

It was a peaceful , comfortable , pleasant stay.

Is there anyone who has more pics on local tour package rates? I saw one such picture uploaded by a traveller.

All tour rates differ according to the season and prices are very negotiable. You will have to fix the rate depending on which places you wish to vist. Always remember the less the crowd the lower the rates will be. Remember Ooty is a very small place, you to travel to the surrounding places.
