This is the second time we have stayed at Sri Omkar Palace and whilst, the last visit was pre-Covid - the views and service have remained exceptional.

Yes the walk through the Varanasi lane ways from the main road can be viewed in indifferent terms however, there are for a small price persons available to assist - carry luggage and guide you to the Omkar.
We see this as part of the adventure as the Varanasi lanes and alleys that run parallel to the Ganges are a kaleidoscope of colour, energy and exemplify the historical nature of an ancient living city.

The Sri Omkar Palace is an oasis nestled overlooking the banks of the Ganges offering calmness and serenity - the rooms are well sized, and appointed with a range of expected amenities.

The real heartbeat of the Sri Omkar Palace is its staff who at anytime go above and beyond to ensure you have a memorable experience.

The rooftop restaurant has a selection of fresh authentic dishes - each prepared by fantastic hotel staff who are more than willing to assist with dish selection - we chose to have room service each night as the opportunity to dine overlooking the Ganges was an experience not to be missed.

The Ghats are in close proximity - yes there are steps and what goes down must come up - this is true with all Ghats in Varanasi.

My mind and body were in tatters after a train in India was delayed for 10 hours.
The hotel I finally got to had a Japanese-speaking manager who told me about a variety of recommended restaurants and the hotel's Indian food was delicious.
The exchange was quick at a good rate. I asked for a late check-out because I was exhausted, but they were willing to accept. When we went to the restaurant, we asked for a rikisha, but they took us to the main street and even negotiated with us.
Tsukutsuku to Varanasi station also carried our luggage and negotiated the price, so we could go at a very low price.
I was able to travel with peace of mind and board a Ganges boat.
When I stayed, more than 80 percent were Japanese. It is a hotel where you can enjoy Varanasi with peace of mind.

This is a great accommodation for staying on the Varanasi ghats. Certainly, there are the usual obstacles of getting there with motorised restrictions beyond Godowlia, so if you've not stayed in this area of Varanasi before, I advise contacting the hotel and requesting assistance for the last km.

The Ganga facing rooms are definitely the pick. These rooms are sometimes smaller, so check the actual room sizes when booking, and if you like extra space, you'll need to ay a little more. We stayed in one of the non-river facing ground floor rooms and it was excellent. Plenty of space and well designed. I looked at the upper river-facing rooms and they are very pleasant.

The staff are proficient, attentive and ready to help with all requirements. The rooms exceptionally clean, which is a pleasure in a city notorious for its dirtiness, as Gandhi outrageously pointed out.

Location is perfect - somehow it overlooks the Ganga as if you were right on the ghats, and the breakfast area on the roof has a spectacular view. Food for breakfast was excellent, and the staff there are very good. We didn't have any other meals than breakfast, so I can't speak for that.

The hotel sits just off Bangali Tola, which is one of the most interesting laneways for travellers, with numerous cafes and restaurants, although I recommend eating main meals at Keshari's on Dashashwamedha Rd.

Definitely, I would choose Sri Omkar Palace again were I to return to Varanasi.

This hostel/hotel is well positioned for the Ghats and the views from the river view rooms are good…that’s where the good ends. The manager is the rudest man in charge of a hotel I’ve ever met… (actually maybe the rudest man I’ve ever met) …we had correspondence three or four times by what’s app the fortnight leading to our visit and an airport pick up was arranged, flight numbers etc. No pick up arrived at the airport and no message, telling us of any problem at any point. It was a very busy weekend with the kumbh mela, and MANY people getting to Varanasi. We found it incredibly difficult to get to Varanasi as first time visitors, especially with no warning and time to research and arrange an alternative. It was only due to kindness from others that we managed to get to the hotel at this crazy busy time... (this place is difficult to get to on a normal weekend). We called and messaged the hotel all the way to the hotel through the traffic to try and get some help and were ignored.

The hotel manager didn’t even look up from his computer when we arrived feeling very overwhelmed and upset. It was only when I pushed the subject in disbelief he reluctantly apologised and said there had been an accident, which was complete rubbish…all the staff were waiting when we arrived and all looked uncomfortable and embarrassed. How this man works in customer service I’ll never know. A message or answering the phone is all that was required. Our room was ok, although one of the plugs was actually sparking from below the television so we unplugged

Your home in Kashi
I am a frequent traveller in Kashi. I am a demanding traveller, so comfort , cleanliness, silence and Ganga view are essential for me.
Omkar Palace has truly become my Kashi home. The hotel offers perfectly clean and comfy rooms equipped with everything you might need, including unlimited hot water anytime, fridge , complimentary drinking water on your demand, vanity kits and coffee/tea facilities.
Best rooms are super spacious and offer incomparable Ganga view. The rooftop restaurant offers fantastic breakfasts and delicious masala chai. Any food can be served in your room at any time.
But the most important thing : if you become a guest of Omkar palace , you are treated like family. The stuff guys are always there to help you with anything: from bringing your shopping or laundry to getting freshest flower garlands for your Deity.
Precious previous time I came during Navaratri and though it was badly tough to find any room anywhere in Varanasi, the guys did their best and provided me Kailash Suit, the one of the exclusive rooms in Omkar palace. Even Brijram palace failed to offer me more comfort and care than Omkar Palace.
🙏Special thanks I address to the Chief manager of Omkar palace, mister Shalabh, for outstanding care and deep respect. 🙏
Since I am a guest of Omkar Palace, I won’t ever think of going anywhere else. It’s truly my home away from home. Absolutely recommend.
The only thing you have to know : the best access to perfectly located Omkar is from the water side. During the floods the way to the hotel might be a little challenging. However, the stuff of Omkar palace will be there to meet you and help with everything.

Great place to stay when in Varanasi. The rooms overlook the Ghat and Ganges river. River facing rooms on the 2nd floor are best because they have a outdoor deck. Breakfast, which is included with the price of the room was delicious. Just a few steps away from the Ganges. The small winding streets of Varanasi are a little confusing at first so I would suggest paying a little extra to have the hotel arrange the taxi from the airport, when they pick you up their staff come out to the main road, carry your luggage and guide you to the hotel. I'm not giving this hotel a 5 star rating because I think its a 5 sta.r luxury hotel, its not! The entire place could use a fresh coat of paint and our toilet seat was broken. You probably wouldn't like Varanasi if hat was you were looking for. This place is great because of the attentive staff and location, location, location! I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again

Apart from the rooms being clean and tidy, the position is fantastic and is basically right on the Ganga river, you walk down to the Ghats (choice of 2 direct access points) in 2 minutes! Perfect for doing a sunrise or sunset Ganga Ceremony boat experience.
The rooftop bar/restaurant is fantastic! You can't beat the panoramic views of the Ganga from here. With a cold drink in hand late in the cooler afternoon with the view is perfection!
The staff are excellent, you can ask for any kind of assistance, like organise a guide (I recommend Lalit - ask for him!), any information, transfers etc and they are more than happy to help or organise it for you.
Yes, you have to walk a little way from the main roads where you get out of your car, but you're in Varanasi - you should be expecting this!! But if you make contact with the staff before hand they can organise your entire transfer from the train or plain and porters will meet you at the car to not only take your bags but guide you the way there.

I don’t even know where to start. This was hands down the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was bombarded by staff trying to sell me silk products—scarves, bedsheets, robes—you name it. It felt less like checking into a hotel and more like walking into an aggressive street market.

The worst part? The way to the hotel is horrible . Rooms are not clean and the owner it self very rude.

Avoid this place at all costs unless you want to feel like a walking wallet in a never-ending silk sales convention. I came for a relaxing stay and left feeling like I escaped a pyramid scheme. 0/10.

The hotel is located a few steps away from the Chousatti ghat. Like most hotels in Varanasi which are on the ghats, there is no direct road access. The car would drop you at the road 100-150 metres away and you will be guided by the hotel personnel through the narrow bylanes. It was a great experience to walk through the bylanes with their ancient history. The hotel is well maintained. Some of the rooms including the one we had have a common balcony which overlooks the Ganga river. The room by itself was small, but reasonably well furnished. The walls had some peeling paint etc. The room had a good AC and water heater, 2 things which are essential. The overall service levels were exceptionally high. Sanjay Pande and his team were ever willing to organise everything. They organised the evening boat tour with the superb Ganga Aarti view from the water. They also organised a morning boat ride as well as vehicles for sightseeing, visit to Ayodhya and airport pick up and drop. The prices charged were very reasonable. The hotel has a set of people who help you to reach specific locations, or can get things for you including food. The hotel does have its own room service and the food we ordered was tasty. The access to the ghat is 2 minutes away through a set of steep steps. Most ghats are interconnected and one can walk across the ghats. The Dashashwamedh ghat where the evening Ganga aarti is organised is around 3 ghats away or 5 minutes by walk. People with accessibility issues should avoid staying near the ghats due to the steep steps. For others this is a superb location to enjoy the great atmosphere of the Ganga and its ghats. Overall a great trip thanks to the excellent service by the hotel personnel.

Varanasi can be a whirlwind for the senses, but Dwivedi Hotels Sri Omkar Palace became my peaceful oasis. It wasn't just a hotel, it felt like stepping into a friend's warm home.

The staff were like family - always ready with a smile and a helping hand. They helped me to bring our luggages by navigate the bustling lanes of Varanasi, Mr Shivam the manager recommending hidden gems and ensuring I didn't miss a thing.

My room, simple yet comfortable, was my sanctuary after a long day of exploring. But the real star was the view! Waking up to the Ganges flowing by my window was pure magic. Sipping my morning chai on the rooftop restaurant with that view in front of me - well, let's just say it was a million times better than any meditation app!

Speaking of the rooftop, it became my favorite spot. The breakfast and dinner meals was above average, and the gentle Ganges breeze was the perfect antidote to the city's heat.

Dwivedi Hotels Sri Omkar Palace isn't a luxury stay, but it's something much more special. It's a place that captures the essence of Varanasi - warm, welcoming, and full of stories. It's a place that will stay with you long after you check out.
