One of the best decisions I made for my trip to Varanasi was to stay at Dolphin Grand. From the get go, Communications were prompt. After landing in India, I reached out and they established a whatsapp relation with me and kept sending me regular details about what to expect.
I had booked a taxi for myself through them and shared my itinerary. Rajeshji was extremely helpful, understanding and quick with planning. He found a very knowledgeable guide for me, Rohitji. Not only was Rohitji very dynamic, respectful but he was punctual and alert throughout the trip. At various places he gave me headsup upon what to expect and always kept an eye out for me. It felt like I was with family when I went to different places of worship.
At the Udupi Sagar dining facility that they have, I found the kindest people. Rajputji, Poonam, Lucky and rest of the team were sweet and hospitable. It was a pure Vegetarian place so no stress. Every food item was prepared wonderfully and they spent time talking to me and giving me a peek into why people here are the best in the world. Their suggestion on menu was perfect. Hearing them talk made me realize their outlook on life comes from being citizens of the greatest city on earth. I have to take 2 minutes of my time to just praise how amazing it was to be able to request the ginger,honey,lemon drink that lucky made for my sore throat. His innocent nature and talented efforts made my fatigue gone in 2 minutes. As a woman in 40's traveling to teerth yatra alone, my happiness was compounded knowing that there are gems like these in service industry. Dolphin Grand's biggest strength is the staff. Concierge service are excellent, Rajeshji deserves all my gratitude, Rohitji deserves all of my appreciation. Rajputji, Lucky,Poonam and all of the people at Udupi Sagar deserve my dhanyawad for making the land of Bhole baba, Vishalakshi, Ma Annapoorna so Dhanya! This is my second time staying here. The staff especially shamshad and ragunath were very kind and friendly. I was not feeling very well so they allowed us to stay an hour extra for free (and we added another 1 hour extra at a discounted rate.)
The wait staff during dinner and breakfast were alao friendly. The room was a little small for the price and the shower head was not maintained properly so only a trickle of water was coming out but ptherwise everything was perfect.

I booked Dolphin Grand late afternoon near the end of Kumbh Mela festival after a harrowing 24 hours at another hotel. I found the booking process and the concierge front desk personnel to be easy and very accommodating of my late arrival and urgent need at such a busy period. I asked for a higher floor room with garden view and was delighted when I awoke next morning to find it was also sunrise view. Room was spotless, bedding comfortable with variety of pillows, shower lasted more than 2 minutes and good size room. The hotel restaurant was excellent dining specialising in Indian buffet for breakfast and dinner at reasonable price. Hotel is away from Ghats but auto rickshaw is a cheap & easy trip. Staff were super professional, polite and eager to please. I had a seamless stay and would highly recommend as a solo older female traveller from Australia. I felt safe, comfortable and cared for. Hotel organised my taxi to airport with Monu who had great English and kept me entertained. I cannot fault my stay.

If you are looking for the following, you shd stay at Hotel dolphin Grand: Comfortable beds, Pristine cleanliness, larger than many other hotel's rooms and bathrooms, excellent location. For all of these, I give this property 5 stars. I am glad this hotel offers a pure veg restaurant. So I want to offer some constructive suggestions. The food tasted bland. Some south indian dishes did not taste authentic. We ordered yogurt rice and normally, south indians like to eat it with a lemon pickle or a dried curd chilli pickle or avakai. No such pickles were available. Hard to eat yogurt rice with north indian pickles. 2) The imli rice is not the traditional spicy and tangy south Indian tamrind rice. 3) Idlis were soft, would be a nice touch to offer some gunpowder with oil to go with the idlis. 4)My husband ordered Rotis with plain dal and he said it was well made - this was the only dish we could find that was "homestyle". My suggestion is to offer a couple of homestyle dishes without too much butter, ghee etc - example: simple dry aloo subzi, beans sabzi etc. Another constructive suggestion: Our laundry came back with each individual piece inserted with brown paper and then folded. I consider this a waste of paper and it creates more work for the guest to remove the brown paper, refold it before packing it in suitcase. Maybe they can ask the guest if they wd like the brown paper inserted inside or not when they pick up the laundry. The laundry costs were also higher than even Delhi. So perhaps they can make it more competitive. We paid Rs 720 for more pieces in Delhi and paid ~1150 at Dolphin for less pieces. I thought Delhi was supposed to be the expensive city. If the hotel pays attention to these constructive suggestions, they can be one of the best in the Varanasi area.

The good impression of Hotel Dolphin Grand happened much before we arrived there. We had planned a short one day trip but we had to extend it for two due to flight cancellation. Reception staff Nancy showed great acumen and understanding in a hassle-free extension. I stayed with my British wife who completely loved the customer service and staff behaviour. Not to mention that their restaurant called Udupi Sagar at the ground floor has one of the best recipes created with thoughtful care. Despite at a central location the noise never entered our room. Our room window faced a peepal and kadam tree making our stay even more pleasurable. In two days we could visit all the major sites and come back for dinner and lunch. Special thanks to all the polite and kind staff ( Govind, Rangnath and many others)member which embodied the Indian hospitality in true sense and made us feel like अतिथि देवो भवः ( Guest is god).

Staff throughout the hotel were friendly and did their best to help. We found most of them didn’t understand English but they referred on to someone who did!
We had an upgraded room which was larger than others so we had lots of space and enjoyed the seating area.
Bed and pillows were comfortable and as we were at the back of the hotel it was lovely and quiet so we slept well.
Food was fair but being strictly vegan limited the choices. We enjoy soup at dinner time but on both nights the soup was fiery hot and extremely salty so we left it behind.
Pickup and drop off at the Airport was very convenient. It cost 1,100 INR each way. The journey takes an hour so very good value.
As value goes, the hotel for two nights (with dinner and breakfast) was more expensive than any other hotel we’ve stayed at in India at over €400 and it didn’t have the same facilities or variety of food.
That said, we were about 10 minutes walk from the river Ganges and only a few steps from the edge of the old town so the location is definitely good.

Dolphin Grand is a hotel that is comfy and at a great location in Varanasi. The hotel location is just bordering the core areas of Varanasi and hence one can reach by car without much traffic from/to airport. The hotel is relatively new and hence looks clean and well employed. You can expect all the basic needs in the room and their exec double room has ample space to stay. Lakshmi Arumugam leads a great team at this hotel and the staff are courteous and always ready to help. There is a restaurant inside the hotel and the food here is wonderful with north-south options and variety. Our stay has truly been a memorable one and looking forward to visit and stay again this great ancient city.

We stayed at the hotel for 9 nights & cannot recommend it highly enough. The staff were always willing to help, the location was great & the food was fantastic. Despite being in a very good location the noise from the street was not audible which helped a great deal & the rooms are very comfortable. This was my first time in Varanasi. I zeroed in on this hotel since it’s 15mins walk to Kedar ghat and approx 1.5kms to Dashashwamedh ghat. With lot of scepticism I booked this hotel for just two days. On arriving I was happy to see the property was very new. The rooms are decent size however felt fresh and comfortable. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Air conditioning worked well. Room had a smart TV, mini fridge, digital locker, bathroom amenities, in room slippers. The front desk staff, housekeeping staff and restaurant staff were very courteous, polite and helpful. Was very happy with their interactions and service provided. I liked this hotel so much that I ended up extending my stay with them for 5 days. The laundry service is another good reason to pick this hotel because it is express laundry and returned well packed. Since the staff quoted it’s a 4star property I expect unlimited packaged drinking water bottles and not limited to 4.

Literally the best service I received in more than two weeks in India, going around to a handful of cities staying at hotels and Airbnbs that were all pretty nice. The food was truly fantastic (yes, even a hotel buffet!), and everyone from the front desk workers to the attentive servers in the restaurant to the doorman seemed to go above and beyond to help us out and make our stay pleasant. The building itself looks very unassuming from the chaotic street, but the soundproofing and views were great. When there was an issue with maintenance in my room and I asked to be moved, it was done within 5 minutes of my request. I would 1000% recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Varanasi.
The only constructive criticism I have is that the in-room massage therapists need more training to match the service quality of the rest of the hotel staff. My friend and I both got massages, and his therapist took four phone calls during the massage. Mine took only one call, but spent half of the time watching videos on her phone while half-heartedly massaging me. She also asked me for a bottle of water from my fridge before starting the massage. Not really an issue to provide that to her, but unclear why she needed it, since she didn’t actually finish the water, and left it on the table when she left. The price was extremely affordable, but frankly, I’d happily pay more for a massage that was as good what the rest of the hotel provided.
