Hotel Ganges View , Varanasi, is a family run property situated on a quiet lane within a short walking distance of Assi Ghat . The location is superb and the rooms over looking the Ganges are absolutely beautiful. The Staff , Mr Prakash and Mr Ram in particular ,are very helpful and go out of their way to make the guests feel comfortable. The entire staff is courteous , affable and very welcoming. The en suite rooms are well appointed and clean . The hotel is dotted with art work , family portraits and rich tapestry lending it an old world charm with meticulous attention to aesthetic appeal .
. Since the hotel does not have a restaurant food is available on order and is cooked fresh every day . The chef is excellent and the food very tasty . Breakfast is included with the room and is quite appetising .
The hotel manager introduced us to a taxi agency and we could easily book a car to take us sightseeing . A special mention needs to be made of Mr Ram Sevak of Ram Tours and travels who acted as our guide and chauffeur on all three days taking us to the temples , Sarnath. Local shopping and finally to the airport. He was cheerful and full of local folklore .
The highlight of our 3 day stay was easy accessibility to the Ghat , the Mangal Arati and the evening boat rides . Every morning waking up to the chants of the mantras wafting through the windows was magical to say the least . Some of us were fortunate to attend the Arati in person on the Assi Ghat and see the mesmerising sunrise while classical music was being played live by maestros . It was a rich and memorable experience.

A charming hotel where you feel you are staying in someone’s house. So much beautiful art work. There are corridors and stairways and so many areas to sit. On different balconies both inside and outside Location is excellent and you can walk out of the hotel and immediately be able to watch the morning or evening ceremonies.
The breakfast is lovely and the evening meal which is an Indian buffet is so delicious. Highly recommend you eat here

The staff are attentive and helpful

The hotel is charming, the walls are full of paintings and the rooms are very elegant with a large and clean bathroom. They also have a terrace from which you can see the assi gath. The staff is very kind, ready to satisfy every customer request and the varied food served at the restaurant is also excellent... a very cozy room, it almost feels like being at home. At our check-out we were given two scarves as gifts. Small gestures that remain in the heart.

The Hotel Ganges View in Assi Ghat, Varanasi, offers clean rooms and a clean overall environment. The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful, and there was an alternative backplane exit in case the main entrance was inaccessible due to flooding. While the rooms lacked televisions, they were decorated with beautiful pictures and wall hangings. The spacious toilets were equipped with ceiling fans to keep them dry.

English proficiency among the staff was limited, but our own sign language proved to be helpful. There were one instance of staff walking through the dining area with towel after bathing during our breakfast today.

The hotel's breakfast options were limited, with only thali meals for lunch and buffet dinners available upon prior notification to the kitchen staff.

While the hotel's cleanliness and ample greenery are commendable, the lack of television in the rooms, limited breakfast options, and occasional inconveniences like staff walking through the dining area with towel may be factors to consider for some travelers.

The hotel's convenient walking distance to Assi Ghat for the evening aarti is a definite advantage.

This is a fabulous family run hotel featuring beautiful and meticulously tended balcony gardens, comfy beds, nice decor, and most of all, a great location right on the Sacred Ganges. The food was delicious and vegetarian. For you omnivores looking for a lunch or dinner outside of the hotel, there is a fabulous, reasonable Italian restaurant a few doors down. The owners promptly answered all of our questions and addressed any issues, no matter how small. The hotel itself softly speaks to guests with a voice from the past, but all of the modern amenities. Thank you to the management and staff for making our stay so special!

Dog lovers - there is an adorable resident dog and the staff put out food/water for the occasional wandering street dog - wonderful people!

The property is mesmerizing. The owner of the property has a lot of interest in art and its reflected in every nook and corner of the property.
Aesthetically the property is a 10/5 , the balcony on the 2 floor is a good place to unwind and soak in the beauty. The rooms are spacious, well lit and well set-up.
Love the dining area and also the food. simple food but extremely delicious. You can inform them in advance if you'd like to have lunch/ dinner.
Staff is super helpful and accomodating. The manager, Prakashji is extremely kind and helpful. Right from the time of reservation to checkout he was very helpful in catering to any request .
Location- it's located right on Assi ghat, you will need to walk about 50 mts to get a tuk tuk or to tje parking area for your car.. convenient location in case you want to opt for a boat ride also.
Assi Ghat is where the morning aarti is performed ~5 AM and the subah banaras program is conducted ( musical+ meditation/yoga, etc) after the aarti. You are a stones throw away to experience these.
Cons:
The charging points in one of the rooms wasn't working properly, the switch connection was loose and the charger would slide down.
For elderly people it can be a little taxing to take the stairs as there's no lift ( we were informed in advance about this, but we really wanted to stay at the property so ignored this).
The turn off or reason for a 4/5 rating is one of the washroom was cleaned and sealed but there was poop which hadn't been flushed. I request the rooms to be thoroughly checked before handing over to the guest.
Overall I would definitely recommend the property as it was great in terms of service, location, cleanliness, food and overall experience

Indifferent staff and dirty……
We arrived late and were greeted by a sullen member of staff who only wanted to copy our passports, shown to our rooms by people who could not explain anything and basically given zero welcome.
Shower control handle came off in my hand so water was dangerously hot. There was dirt in all corners of the shower and little space. It was impossible to turn off all bedroom lights and keep air con going and we had no idea where restaurant was for breakfast. We left a day early and the apparent manager could not care less! Unless it improves massively I would AVOID!!

Hotel ganges View is an exquisite property right on the Assi Ghat of the Ganges. Manager Prakash and owner Shishank are two of the most friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable I met in Varanasi. Their hotel is beautifully appointed, in an ideal location, and offers a delicious home-style buffet meal for their guests.
Prakash and his team provided great assistance in managing the places I wanted to get to and helped me locate some of the special souvenirs I was looking for. I highly recommend this property and if you have a chance to stay their, you too will share my opinion of this top Varanasi hotel.

In this small hotel on the Ganges we stayed 2 nights. The room had furniture from another era (I would remove something to have more space) but clean. The bathroom could use a makeover. Cute restaurant that serves typical dishes but very tasty. Its location is excellent for experiencing the mystical atmosphere of Varanasi and I recommend it. The staff is very welcoming and ready for every need.
