Look, it's not the Four Seasons. But I was entranced by Ganges View. My little room, like a jewel box of green and blue glass windows, had a small enclosed patio that jutted out over the ghat, and also housed a few bats that slept there during the day. It was a small space, and in the 110+ degree heat...

Hotel Ganges View has a top location at the important but relaxed, not too oppressively religious Assi Ghat, in a quiet car free street leading to the ghat. This beautiful former home of an art loving family that built it 85 years ago is a gorgeous colonial style house full of art with even a small library mainly devoted to...

(please note that my rating are given in the context of the price, location and alternative places I have seen/visited). Given its central location, the hotel can get accessed relatively easy. From the train station, you can get a pre-paid tuk tuk for 95rupee and it takes around 15-20min depending on traffic. By car, you can get very close to...

A very well furnished hotel with interesting furniture and works of art. The drains smelled very bad in our room but as we were out a lot it wasn't too bad but they do need seeing to. The Air Conditioning was a disaster and as it was very hot not a pleasant experience to try to sleep. I got the...

Our stay at the Gange Hotel started pleasant with the hotel picking us up at the airport in a decent car (900 rupees). The hotel is at the Assgi Ghat which is the last one. The hotel, is much like all the buildings in Varanasi being it is narrow and multi-leveled. If you are older or a bit handicapped it...

This hotel is the perfect stay in Varanasi. It is in front of the Gange in a nice and quite gath. The rooms are clean and confortable. There is a big terrace where you can enjoy not just the view, but the night, the sunset and any single moment of your day in varanasi. It is also a perfect place...

I stayed at this hotel once in 2008 during monsoon season, it was empty and easy to walk in and get a room. Since that time, I have tried three times to book a reservation as we would like to come back. The first time, I was told bookings cannot be made more than six months in advance. So when...

stayed here Feb 2013. beautifully appointed hotel with wonderful attentive staff. The upper patio overlooking the Assi Ghat was a blend of beautiful wood marble and potted flowers that transport you from the crowds of the ghats.Assi Ghat being at the end of Varanasi make a suberb place to be if one wants to be right on the ghats. Quiet...

Hotel Ganges View on Assi Ghat in Varanasi is an enchanting "haveli" perched above Assi Ghat, upstream of the riverside "ghats". As a haveli, an old Mughal style townhouse around a courtyard, it is a beautiful building. The courtyard is now enclosed and roofed over, and provides a splendid main dining-room, where breakfast includes really good porridge for those who...

My review is based on my stay there a year ago, so I hope service has improved since then (but from reader recent reviews, this doesn't seem the case). This is a beautiful hotel full of atmosphere. I loved the terrace and the meals were just superb. We met many interesting people over many meals here. However, I feel that...
