To fully experience Varanasi you need to stay right by the Ganges and this hotel is right in the heart of it. The staff were very welcoming, the home cooked food was delicious. The room was a little small and basic but this was all about the experience and the location for us. The roof terraces are great for relaxing...

This place fully deserves its reputation as one of the secret treasures and amazing originals of the planet. At first, you may be taken aback to see almost no sign at the entrance--a sign of the hotel's commitment to modesty and understatement--and to be admitted to a room that is quite bare. But the longer you stay, the more the...

We just spent 3 nights at the hotel Ganges view. Such a beautiful authentic place. All the rooms are nicely done with some gorgeous Indian furniture. The employees are very nice and the food is just fabulous. The best food I had in the 2 weeks spent in India !! You might get woken up by the roaming dogs around...

Steps lead up to a sprawling haveli (palace) with many community rooms and terraces. Dinner was a buffet and two tables in a large quaint formal family dining room. Lots of Hindu art EVERYWHERE. Staff was very friendly and Hindu humble. Civilized, comfortable, and clean. This is not a bright, shiny new place with quick shiny amenities. Would be a...

We spent two amazing nights in this fabulous little gem on the banks of the Ganges! This little hotel offers an aesthetic heaven for those travelling North India. They have maintained all original features and display beautiful Indian antique art and furniture. There are so many little areas for sitting out to watch life on the local ghat. The rooms...

Spent two nights here ...perfect location and delicious food. A totally vegetarian hotel but dinner was so delicious even the carnivores amongst us didn't miss meat. The hotel itself was clean and beds incredibly comfortable. Musak playing through the sound system at 10:15 p.m could be heard clearly from our room but was turned off immediately we requested it. The...

Yes, I know, this is the hotel where Richard Gere famously stayed in the '90's and has been written up countless times as a favorite haunt of chic, stylish travelers. That's why I booked it -- I was looking for a charming little boutique hotel on the ghat and from all accounts, this was the one to be at. BEWARE...
