This is my house in Varanasi. The Sun Rise Lodge is the best place to stay in Varanasi being in the heart of the old town. I have been coming to Benares for more than 25 years and the welcome, the hospitality, the smiles are always present. The entire team makes you feel like you're part of the family. The hotel has 8 clean and comfortable rooms (from solo to family), most of which with bathroom, several terraces with views of the ghats and the Ganges, .. it is a unique place! If you are looking for simplicity, generosity, authenticity, with good comfort, then you have found!
The cuisine is delicious, I will never tire of my favorite dish the "palak paneer" with a "cheese nan", of course!!

Sun Rise Lodge, Meer Ghat, Varanasi, is a nice budget stay for travellers and pilgrims who are satisfied with the basic amenities, and do not opt for luxury. The owner, Sri Vikas Mehrotra, is a very jovial person who will guide you with everything including the other places of visit in and around Varanasi. The staff are very decent and cooperative, and the location of the Lodge is prime, on the Meer Ghat, yards away from the Dasashwamedh Ghat, with a clear view of the holy Ganga, and a 4 – 5 min. walk from Kashi Viswanath temple and Vishalakkhi Shaktipeeth temple.

Sun Rise Lodge is a nice Lodge, with few simple and neat rooms where I appreciate to stay while travelling to Varanasi. In this ancient family House, at Meer Ghat, the people are very kind and the atmosphere is friendly with a superb view on Ganga. I have stayed in multiple places in varanasi but this place was best one could stay and eat. The environment there is best for females, I being a women felt safe there they treat u like ur own child and I can't elaborate more but best place u can stay trust me it was a great place with great ganga view and coming to food they have the best food. Didn't felt I was in a hotel, they are not there for business, they don't treat people like business. 🙏🙏

My first impression about this place was awesome because the owner Mr. Vikas was himself waiting for us at the Godowliya circle to receive. While entering the lodge after criss crossing through the famous micro lanes of Varanasi I read their welcome note that said "our lodge is small, but hearts are big". After spending 4 nights there I have experienced the true meaning of it. Location was spectacular, right on the Meer ghat, with clear view of the mighty Ganges from room ( I stayed in room 1) and all the other ghats are walkable by the bank of the river. I have stayed in a 5 star hotel in my previous visit in 2009 - away from all the hustle bustle. But this time I wanted a simple stay on the ghats with the real feeling of this 5000 years old city. Sun Rise lodge is ideal for backpackers and budget travellers. I used to roam around the ghats, taken bath (& holy dip) in the Ganges just below the lodge, enjoyed the Ganga Aarti prayers every evening, would sit in the open balcony for hours. Mr. Vikas & his team helped us in every aspect from sight- seeing plans to holy darshan of lord Viswanath temple. Their in-house restaurant provided delicious vegetable meals. I have brought back such a fulfilling & enriching experince that I will remain forever in memory. Will visit again.

The Lodge is situated in from of river Ganga, Meer Ghat. You will feel a homely environment when you start living in the lodge. I would like to mention, the Owner Vikash Ji, what a gentleman. The culture he and his family belongs to, you can see a reflection in their behavior. Always smiling, always try to help you whatever be your situation. I came from Kolkata. I do not know about this place earlier, so I had a confusion in my mind. But once I reached to the lodge and talk to Vikash Ji, all my doubts have gone. I feel comfortable staying in the lodge. I have decided, my first experience staying in this lodge was so wonderful, I have decided, every time I visit Varanasi, I will stay here only. Stuffs are also good, obedient and polite, specially, Manoj. Thank you Vikas Ji for allowing us to stay in your lodge and we are fortunate enough to have your hospitality.

This is the third time we have come to Benares and Sun Rise is our rallying place. Manu always welcomes us with a "welcome home" filled with sincerity and he knows how to be there whenever we need something.
We will return to Benares and will stop at the Sun Rise.
The view is perfect, the kitchen very good and all the staff is attentive.

I really enjoyed my stay at Sunris Lodge. The room was simple but clean. The Lodge is located at one of the ghats, very close to Dashashwamedh and Manikarnika ghats. I have arrived late at night, the host helped me to find a tuk-tuk and met me later on a bike to drive me to the lodge. It might be problematic to get there if you have a lot of luggage, the historic city of Varanasi has small streets where only bikes can go. I would definitely stay here again if I ever come back to varanasi.

We had a marvelous stay in Sunrise Lodge . We had a room at the top with nice view on ganga . Private bathroom with hot shower . Manu the owner is really kind . He organised our luggage transportation from the tuk tuk to his place as the hotel is in the old varanasi quarter , inaccessible for Tuktuk. We had very good food there . He provided us a good guide to visit the old town ( his nephew) that was very interesting . Manu also organized us a Boat tour early morning on the Ganga. The Sunrise is really well located at the ghats . We enjoyed very much our stay and would like to come back. Good price
