We are Ganpati Guest House - if you stay here, we are sure that you will have a good time in Varanasi. Of course the view of the beautiful river Ganges is amazing and exotic. Many people who come to Varanasi stay with us in the Ganpati Guest House. The staff are very kind and have a good spirit. We look forward to meeting you and hope beautiful time in Varanasi. The history of Ganpati Guest House: The Ganpati is located at the east end of the Mother Ganges in Varanasi, makes its presence known throughout the riverbanks not only by shining the world's oldest culture as well as oldest city. A city of light...but also by offering cutting-edge restaurants, renowned facilities, amazing view and comfortable accommodations. This 3-story Redstone pyramid was built in 1905 on the river Ganges, contains so many amenities on such an enormous scale that it's becomes practically amazing vacation. Spacious rooms surrounded by the plants, which boasts your staying, dining and entertainment. The Garden, at more than 1000 square feet, is one of Varanasi's oldest existing buildings and rarely available, offering a tranquil sitting, an array of nice music, a rack of books nearby. We want to deliver inside of the property a best atmosphere. We're trying to become a little more contemporary and appeal to all age crowds with holy feelings. We want to offer the best entertainment, dining, staying and relax without insulting the worth of your damage. That's not to say that "The city of Light" will be memorable entire the life. It is, after all, still a part of what makes the property unique, and explained that the hotel is prepared to keep the better executed elements of the riverbank-culture theme. Kind regards.

Ganpati Guest House delights guests with its prime location and authentic Indian atmosphere, earning praise for its cultural ambiance and stunning Ganges views. While many travelers appreciate the clean and spacious deluxe rooms, some have found the basic rooms to be humid and noisy. The hotel's cleanliness is frequently commended, yet opinions on value are mixed, with some feeling it is overpriced despite its merits. Service is generally regarded as friendly, although occasional issues with room service and Wi-Fi are noted.

Beautiful hotel, very welcoming on the banks of the Ganges which has a beautiful atmosphere.
The rooms are well decorated, as are the common areas.
We were served very good cuisine on the rooftops with a beautiful view.
In fact, it is a little haven of peace in the middle of all this tumult and this maze of streets.

ganpati is an oasis of calm on the gang in the center of the most messy district of varanasi. the rooms are of different level the "cheap" rooms are really basic rooms with little light a bit 'humid and with very noisy air conditioning, on the upper floors you go up a level and prices arriving at top prices for India without being a top hotel. here is the biggest problem of ganpati: it is too expensive, because the staff is great and the food you pay for apart good, but overall it is not worth that amount

Stunning structure, the best on my last trip to India.
I chose a room with a balcony directly on the Ganges and the room exceeded my expectations, everything was very clean and waking up in the morning and being surrounded by that dreamlike color typical of Varanasi will remain in my heart forever. The most expensive property I stayed in in India but I particularly wanted to spend my days in Varanasi in that area and with that view. All the staff were extremely kind and helpful for anything. I would have stayed there forever. the restaurant with terrace overlooking the Ganges is wonderful and the food delicious. The next time I return to Varanasi I will definitely choose this property again.

I recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and 4 days and here is my experience

Pros:
Location: The location is excellent! You don’t need to go anywhere else for a beautiful river view or to take a dip in the holy river.

Cleanliness: The hotel staff does a commendable job of keeping the premises neat and clean.

Sleep Quality: Being close to the river and slightly away from the busy streets means you can enjoy a good night’s sleep.

Cons:
Hotel Restaurant: Unfortunately, the restaurant service was disappointing. The chef seemed unsure of how to prepare basic items like a veg sandwich or paratha. I doubt anyone could finish a single paratha! Despite my feedback about the food quality, there was no improvement.

Room Service: There is no way to contact the front desk or restaurant from your room. Each time I needed something, I had to go to the front desk. I was also surprised that the staff never offered to clean the room or refill water bottles; I had to collect water from the front desk daily.

Walking Distance: The hotel is a bit far from the main market and taxi/auto pick-up points, requiring a walk if you want to explore. I wouldn’t recommend this property for senior citizens or families with young children.

Conclusion:
I can only recommend this hotel if you're not traveling with seniors or kids and don’t mind the food quality.

I will be looking for another property for my next stay.

Just spent two nights here with my partner. I’ll start by mentioning the most important and mainly only good thing about this hotel: great central location right on the Ganges river with an amazing view, ideal for those who want to be in the center.
Location aside, we were not happy at all with the hospitality and service provided.
We arrived early in the morning and were told our booking was not showing in the system (we had booked directly through their whatsapp and had all the texts with conversation and confirmation of the booking as proof). We had booked the Super Deluxe Superior room and had no intention into settling for another one as the difference was huge. - Most of the staff also did not speak english -
they tried to scam us by showing us other rooms that had nothing to do with the one we had booked.
(I have recently read a review from another guest who had faced the exact same situation). After a lot of insisting from our side, they finally showed us the correct room (hours later).
We gave them our passports twice, first time when we arrived in the early morning and they said our booking did not exist, second time hours later when they eventually gave us the room we had booked and we gave them the passports again to finally check in.
Later during the day some staff member started knocking loudly and shouting from outside of the door asking for the passports once again for the third time. We were sleeping.
Room was colorful, bright and spacious, bathroom decent although very small with a shower not separated and literally next to the toilet. (There were no photos of the bathroom available on their website). Their prices are outrageous for what you get.
There were constant outages of power which led to AC and fans to suddenly stop working.
Be aware that wifi only works in the lobby and common areas, it does not reach the rooms (which also was unclear on their website, they state that “Internet is free and available in the hotel” but for some reason they do not specify that it will NOT work in the rooms).
When went out the next morning and asked for the room to be cleaned, we came back hot and sweaty from our day out looking forward to a fresh room to find out that AC was turned off (probably by the staff while cleaning to save on the electricity bill) therefore room temperature was almost the same as outside’s boiling temperature.
Amenities and toiletries were not replenished in the bathroom and we had to ask for them.
A lizard was happily wondering around in the room.
In conclusion, definitely not a good experience at the hotel, which is why I would only recommend this place for the location and surely not for a long stay.
One more thing to keep in mind if you decide for this location, it is quite challenging to find places to eat in the old city.

Late 30s female, first trip to South Asia. Ganpati was the best hotel stay of the entire India trip! I agree with other reviewers, the deluxe room is worth it and the food is prepared fresh. I want to mention: booking a room through the hotel's website required paying in full to the hotel CEO through Wise.com, and then sending a receipt to the hotel desk staff via email. If you are asked to do this, I can confirm it is a legitimate method of booking a room at Ganpati; the room we requested was reserved for us when we arrived.

We had the Ganga facing (expensive) room, the view was spectacular.
The Hotels’ location is superb (between the Aarti and the cremation Gaats)
The rooftop restaurant offers premium views and great food.
we would only suggest the hotel to better arrange the support with luggage, on arrival, as there is a walk of 15 minutes with the luggage in crowded streets (no cars allowed)

A great choice for lodgings overlooking the mighty Ganga. Perfect location, just look at the map.
Rooms for a variety of budgets. Nice courtyard for a bit of quiet time. Rooftop restaurant offers great views and the food is well prepared and reasonably priced considering the location.
It's very clean, staff seem to be forever at work keeping it spotless.
The team are helpful and friendly.
Unless you are familiar with the area I'd suggest you accept the pick up options as it's hard to find the first couple of times. The cost is very fair.

This is a very good hotel in a perfect location. We looked at so many places to stay in the old town and we couldn’t find the right place, then we found Ganpati Guest House. It was amazing. We had a balcony room right on the river (room 15), it had good AC, was very clean and comfortable and quiet. The rooftop restaurant was good, dinner was great (we ate nearly all meals here), the staff were very friendly and it had an awesome view, perfect for sunset drinks. We must mention the great staff here who were excellent, and especially Sunil who helped us organise fantastic boat tours for sunset and sunrise (both a must) with captain Nicky, and a walking tour of the old city, he is a great member of the staff here! We would absolutely recommend this hotel, it is slightly more expensive than others nearby but we felt we got excellent value for money staying at this oasis amongst the chaos. Thanks!

Beautifully decorated, clean, calm and quiet hotel. Wonderful location in the middle of the Varanasi ghat activity. Staff is friendly and helpful. The rooftop restaurant serves simple, reasonably priced, tasty food and you can see (in the distance) the nightly fire ceremony.
Tip #1: Arrange to have the hotel staff meet you at your arrival point in Varanasi (in our case the airport). Otherwise I think we would have struggled to find the hotel, which is nestled deep within the Varanasi alleyways a ten minute or so walk from the nearest taxi drop off.
Tip #2: Spring for the Ganges view room. It is a wonderful sight by day and night!

Ganpati doesn't care about your marital status. They do have airport pickup, but you don't need it. When you exit the airport you will be besieged with drivers. In February, 2020 I paid 800 rupees from the airport to the drop off near Ganpati. Contact Ganpati online for their prices. They are honest and will not rip you off. Note, you will not be able to get all the way into the narrow alleys in a car or tuk-tuk; you will need to walk a short distance from the drop-off. There will be many people who will offer to carry your bags to Ganpati. Have a great trip!
