Detailed Reviews
The Ramada Plaza JHV in Varanasi offers a pleasant and comfortable stay. The hotel's location is a standout feature, as it overlooks the serene Ganges River, providing stunning views. The staff is welcoming and attentive, ensuring a warm welcome for guests.
The rooms are spacious, well-furnished, and clean, making for a relaxing stay. However, some areas of the hotel could benefit from a bit of renovation to maintain its luxury status. The dining options are varied, with delicious Indian and international cuisine, although prices are on the higher side.
The hotel's pool and fitness facilities are well-maintained, and the spa offers a range of rejuvenating treatments. For business travelers, the conference facilities are well-equipped.
Overall, Ramada Plaza JHV offers a blend of comfort and convenience in an exceptional location. While there are minor areas for improvement, it's a solid choice for those looking to explore the spiritual and cultural wonders of Varanasi with a touch of luxury.

Facility is in very good location and spacious. Rooms are neat and clean. The beds can be of better quality makes squeaky noise. Water flow on the shower stops abruptly for a min or so and starts again. Breakfast was decent. Bit pricey for overall service offered.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
This was my first time at Ramada Varanasi. The ladies at front desk weren’t very professional, attentive or helpful. Inspite of booking a Superior room with King Bed they offered me to take a club room with twin bed and change the next day. When I refused, they kept persuading me to have a look at the club room. After my firm denial to do so I was asked to wait and then another 5 mins I given my key. If they had a room, why wouldn’t they give me that in the first place. What’s the point of prior booking if I have to wait for even a minute after a long travel and lack of sleep.
Even after reaching my room when I happen to call the front desk about issues with my wifi, they lacked attentiveness and I could hear them trying to hold their laugh rather than focusing on what my issue was. Found them extremely unprofessional. Infact just that experience itself had me change my mind and book another hotel immediately after check in, for further stay during my 8 day trip, instead of extending with Ramada itself.
However if I ever had to come back to Ramada Varanasi, that would be because of the staff at breakfast buffet, in room dining staff ant dinner and the housekeeping staff. They were so welcoming and warm. And always ready to help in the best way possible.
Rooms definitely need to be renovated. The carpets looked very old, holders in the washroom broken. Room appearance lacked the upscale 5 star property look because of which I felt the rooms are overpriced.

I stayed here with my family for three days and had booked three rooms between the 1st and 4th of August. This was by far our absolute worst experience in a hotel.
The rooms we were shown were incredibly suffocating and reeked of cigarette smoke. When we asked the staff to show us different rooms or open the windows because we had two asthmatic patients with us, they refused to do either.
After much insistence, they showed us other similar rooms but demanded we pay more if we wanted to switch.
The wifi was virtually useless, and most of our devices were not even able to connect. When we complained, they asked us to pay more for a decent wifi connection.
Most of the amenities advertised on the website are completely bogus and never existed. They falsely advertise having a hot tub, an indoor tennis court, an outdoor tennis court, and a games room. The amenities that did exist at some point, like the gift shop, lounge, cafe, and steam room, were all under construction and had been shut down for a while.
To make things worse, we could not sleep due to the constant hammering sounds from the construction in the rooms above us. We also couldn't have the breakfast buffet or eat in any of the restaurants because of the fumes from the painting and hammering in the main lobby right outside the restaurants.
Every day, the electricity in the entire hotel would trip roughly 5-6 times for about half a minute each time.
Whenever we requested that they stop the painting work so we could eat or the hammering so we could sleep, they would just say that they had construction going on throughout the entire hotel and could not stop the work. Renovation at this scale had apparently been ongoing for more than a year with the property still open and running.
The management seemed to be either uninformed about the issues in the hotel or just didn't care.
The only good thing was that the food being served was edible, and the service from housekeeping and during dinner was decently fast.
The property is an unsafe and unhealthy place to stay and should be thoroughly reviewed by consumer court for false advertisement of amenities and harassment of the guests staying there.
Completely spoiled our vacation.

Dear Guest, I sincerely apologize for the experience you and your family endured during your recent stay at Ramada JHV Varanasi. Your feedback has left us extremely concerned, and I want to personally address the issues you’ve raised. Firstly, I am deeply sorry for the discomfort caused by the suffocating rooms and the smell of cigarette smoke. We should have been more responsive to your needs, especially given the health conditions of your family members. It is unacceptable that you were asked to pay more to switch rooms, and I apologize for the lack of empathy shown in this situation. I understand your frustration with the poor Wi-Fi connectivity and the additional charges proposed for a better connection. This is not the standard we strive to provide, and I will ensure this issue is addressed immediately. Regarding the advertised amenities, I am truly sorry that many of them were either non-existent or unavailable due to ongoing renovations. The construction work, noise, and fumes clearly disrupted your stay, however renovation information given prior only. We should have done a better job managing the renovation process to minimize its impact on our guests. The frequent electricity outages and the ongoing disturbances from construction are completely unacceptable. I understand how this, combined with the false advertising, could lead to such a disappointing experience. I appreciate your positive remarks about the food and the efforts of our housekeeping and dinner service staff. However, this does not excuse the numerous issues you encountered. Your comments will be thoroughly reviewed with our management team, and immediate corrective measures will be taken. We are committed to rectifying these problems and ensuring that no other guest has to go through a similar experience. Please know that we take your feedback seriously and will be investigating these matters in detail. Should you wish to discuss your experience further or require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Once again, I apologize for the distress caused, and I hope we can find a way to make amends. Warm Regarsds, Ashish Tiwari (Front Office Manager)

We returned to this property after 5 years and the deterioration made me awestruck. Staff at check-in didn’t orient us to facilities, credit card POS machines didn’t work and a young girl porter was allowed to drop our bags.
Food is below average and we would strongly recommend against eating at any of their in-house restaurants. Chefs cannot dish up even basic Indian cuisine. Value for money is extremely poor. Try out alternatives in town which are hygienic. Bottled water was nearly $6 which is extortionate.
The incident which most shook our faith in this property and Ramada in general is that a young couple with their ?2 year old were having breakfast in the restaurant. The child had an accident falling off the wooden chair and crushing a finger tip. Untrained staff didn’t offer any first aid and on requesting their kit we were appalled to see that it lacked anything of use. There were no sterile supplies or even gloves. We advised the staff and parents to make arrangements to send the child to a hospital. However neither the duty manager nor any other authority appeared to assist. We saw the young shocked parents walk afoot outside the property towards the street with a wailing child. When we later confronted the reception the duty manager appeared to shrug off any responsibility. On suggesting he follow up on those guests and check his awful first aid kit and training there was no acknowledgement that there was anything wrong. Next to us another group of women were complaining of a dead mouse in their room and management were denying compensation. This property needs urgent review to meet basic health and safety standards and until then it’s unsafe to stay.

This is a terrible hotel. On check-in I opted to pay in Indian rupees, they converted the transaction to pounds without my consent, which added ÂŁ30 to the cost of the stay. When I complained they would not back down, saying it was a standard charge which was incorrect. The breakfast service was terrible, we had to wait around 20 minutes for an omelette and repeatedly remind them. The fridge wasn't working in the room and the water in the room wasn't hot. This is not a 5 star hotel.

This hotel looked good while booking, because of it's brand name.
When we arrived the experience turned into a nightmare and slowly we noticed numerable things which were not in line with the standards of a 5 star hotel.
1. No baggage scan at the hotel.
2. Nobody to receive the guests at night, no one to help with the luggage, we arrived late at night, however the staffing we found in this hotel were like 2 security staff and 2 in the reception.
3. Room service was also slow and orders were missed, we came to know that there was no chef at night and the housekeeping staff is just 1.
4. The beverages requested to the hotel were not there. I couldn't believe that they hold the second class beverages which no 5 star usually carries with them.
5. Cherry on the cake was the fire exit staircase don't have hand railing.
Highly unsafe and dangerous.
The hotel is not safe for children or infact not safe anybody.
When i complained about the issues, it went to deaf ears as nobody to respond during night.

There was no hot water in the washbasin even after running the hot water tap for 10 mins as directed by the housekeeping. Finally I had to make do with cold water for shaving.
The food at the hotel coffee shop was pathetic and on complaining we were attended to by Chef Sumit who insisted that the food is good and he has tasted the same himself. We asked him to retaste in front of us to which he said he is a vegetarian and cannot taste non vegetarian food served to us. On being confronted that just a moment back he had insisted that he tasted the food himself before serving, he gave a vague explanation that he chews non vegetarian food to taste and then spits the same. It is the most surprising explanation I have ever encountered. Still no corrective action to change the food etc was taken.
We specifically asked whether they had rock salt as we wanted the same for the drinks that we wanted to order. We were told us and served the drinks and then told that there was no rock salt. The drinks were useless for us without the rock salt but we still paid for them as they were not ready to take back the drinks or to serve as something else in place of them.

We booked a suite in this hotel which was extremely spacious , included a living , dining and bedroom . The general upkeep of the hotel was upto expected standards. We had breakfast and most of the meals in the hotel itself and the food and variety of dishes were good. The housekeeping staff did a very good job and would be available within minutes of calling. The only service we were disappointed with was in the dining halls. Whatever was ordered separately would take over 30-40 minutes to be served, we excused that attributing it to the hotel running on maximum capacity as it was Dev Diwali at that time. Also a big thanks to the housekeeping and admin staff as we had left some belongings in the hotel and not only did they inform is about it but also were gracious enough to courier them to us. They also refused to take any charges for the same . Will definitely revisit if I have the chance and recommend to friends and family.

Not the most modern of hotels but service is good. For vegans, food is not labelled as vegan; the chefs prefer to make your food whatever you ordered which is great but takes a long time to finish dinner. Noise levels were high in the rooms due to construction (hopefully temporary). Hot water for showers tests your patience (need to let the water run for 5 minutes). Gym is good but has only 1 treadmill and is not opened early in the morning (needs to be requested at the front desk). Overall, a good place with good service, but maybe rated this as 4+ instead of a 5-star hotel.
