We stayed several nights in this establishment, and particularly appreciated the location, the view of the Ganges from the balcony, the tasteful decoration, and the cleanliness of the place.
The establishment is very well managed by a very friendly gentleman who knows how to take care of his guests. The staff are just lovely and very helpful. Breakfasts can be taken in the room or on a terrace with an absolutely spectacular view of Benares and the Ganges.
A big thank you to the whole team for their hospitality, we really felt at home in the heart of Benares. A true haven of peace.! We will most certainly be back as soon as possible!

Varanasi is an extraordinary place. Intense, vibrant, with a history going back thousands of years. It's a place that should be visited at least once in your lifetime, especially at festival time. There is so much to experience and absorb. The Shiva Ganges View is in the heart of Old Varanasi, with the best of the rooms having great views over the Ganges. It is within walking distance of all the main sites, either along the ghats or through the narrow winding streets. Tuk tuk drivers will willingly take you further afield, for a price. The hotel is well run, clean and very friendly. We ate in every night, as we watched Gopal freshly cooking our food in their clean and hygienic kitchen. We were very well looked after by the hardworking Gopal and his team. It's a great place to stay.

Shiva Ganges View Hotel is in a fantastic location in a historic palace directly on the Ganges. the rooms are welcoming, clean and bright, but above all they overlook the Ganges. We arrived at 5.00 in the morning, the hotel where we had booked had not left the room free for us and we called them who let us check in at 5.30 in the morning! Then they recommended us a very good and expert local guide whose name is Gagan. A guy who knew how to get around Varanasi very well and tries to satisfy all the customers' wishes. In general the staff is kind and helpful, you can ask for laundry to be washed and many other things. A great way to stay in Varanasi!

Small family hotel on the banks of the Ganges. The upstairs rooms allow you to see the river and attend the morning rituals. Ideally located, you can easily stroll through the maze of streets and be a few minutes from the main street. If you consider that the Ghats (quays) form a crescent moon, the hotel is located almost in the middle. The rooms are perfectly adequate, the bedding is clean and comfortable. The cleanliness of the bathroom relative but… We are in India!
You can exchange your currency on site for a minimal commission.
The meals are excellent at very reasonable prices. Allow on average €6 for two people, a hot dish, Naans and a bottle of water. The staff are charming and dedicated. The hotel can provide you with a driver who will pick you up at Varanasi airport and take you to the hotel for around 10 euros. We recommend this establishment +++

Unfortunately, the guesthouse did not receive our emails notifying a change of flight times. Their inability to process this communication sent to them meant their transport/ taxi didn’t show up resulting in a very stressful travel to this accommodation.

This said, our second storey room with a large balcony, was nicely situated directly above the Ganges river. Service was overall pleasant and we enjoyed some lovely food there. Servicing of the room occurred only once for our three night stay.

On checkout however, management insisted on cash for final payment which included the cost of the taxi back to the airport at almost double the normal rate. This extra cost was blamed on the Mela festival.

POSITIVES
Location wonderful and rooftop terrace.
Staff excellent
Food good
Sunrise and sunset boat trips are a must but you can book these elsewhere.
Soft beds

NEGATIVES
Location difficult to find if you don't know the place
Access for last 10 minutes from main road but they did carry the baggage for us. On the way home we did insist they carried it rather than wheeled it as there was dog and cow poo everywhere.
Rooms overpriced
One of the staff kept pestering for a tip
The owner is a money grabber

SUGGESTIONS
Get prices of the trips before you arrive as we had to work hard to get this. We arrived very late, very tired and all the owner wanted to do was sell us trips. Fortunately we insisted he give us this before we arrived as I'm sure he would have ripped us off whilst our guard was down through fatigue.

Probably wouldn't stay here again

3 night stay at this lovely guest house. Staff couldn't do enough to help us. They arranged transport to and from the airport, did laundry for us and the chef made us 2 lovely evening meals which we ate overlooking the ganges and also wonderful breakfasts, make sure you have the potato parathas and puri they are amazing. The owner was a lovely man who wanted to make sure we were always happy.
It's a great central location easy and safe to explore everywhere on foot no need for tuk tuk's etc.
The roof terrace is an added bonus to watch the world go by. Rooms spacious clean and comfortable and have everything you need.

We arrived very early on a night train, at 5:30 a.m. and they kindly allowed us to come to the guest house and relax in the lounge until check in. The hotel is right next to the ghats, so a perfect location.

Our room was beautiful, very large, well decorated with traditional windows and balcony with a stunning view over The Ganges. The bathroom was large and had a good shower and western style toilet. The bed was incredibly comfy.

Although noisy until about 10pm, the street outside was quiet afterwards, ensuring a good night's sleep.

The staff were friendly and efficient, especially the waiter who served us breakfast every morning with a good sense of humour.

The sun terrace is fabulous with spectacular views of the town and The Ganges.

I did a yoga lesson one morning, it was easy to arrange and I was taught by a knowledgeable and friendly teacher. It was suitable for all levels of yoga students.

The guest house arranged a taxi for us to the airport.

Shiva Ganges View is a welcome respite from the intense, very hectic life in Varanasi! We were grateful to come back somewhere peaceful after our exploring!

The boarding house is located on the banks of the Ganges so very well placed to walk on the gath at any time. Otherwise absolutely avoid room n 2 on the ground floor and sold with views of the Ganges. Of course we don't see anything vaguely between two trees. In addition the bathroom /WC is really precarious otherwise doubtful cleaning. Nothing to say about the bedding. We tested the restaurant, bof, and breakfast bof too. The welcome is correct but no more.
