The folks at Zostal maintain a perfect balance between fun and rules. They ensure that the guests are keeping the premises safe, clean, and fun to engage with each other while offering plenty of space to hang out and jam. One event or the other keeps happening every day that offers plenty to involve yourself in.
I did not eat food at the Zostal so I cannot comment about it. But the place is pretty cool. It is even safe for families. We had a couple join us for even celebration along with their 5-year-old daughter. They seemed happy :)

We stayed @Zostel recently from 19th to 24th Feb,2020 (5 days) for our first trip to Varanasi. Came to know about this place from the fellow bloggers we follow. We reached Varanasi extremely late than we expected due to our train journey got delayed by 13 hours. Since we were new to the city and being used to Mumbai's comfort and safety even at Night, we were skepticle about the location of the Zostel. The next day's morning changed our whole perception as we were nicely welcomed by the staff and handed over the specially designed Varanasi map with must explore things for Zostellers. Since Zostel is on walkable distance from Dasashwamedh Ghat @Atish Rai, explained us on how to plan our first day's itenirary to explore the city and was very helpful in guiding us to the places. I would like to specially mention @Raj who is the whole-n-soul of the Zostel. He gave us every possible information about the city, its people, safety measures and also gave his bike on hire to explore Sarnath and Ramnagar. I would definitely recommend this Zostel to my fellow homies who are planning to explore Varanasi and would like to experience a hostel like experience meeting new people, making friends and is pocket friendly.

For my first visit to Varanasi, I had decided to go for Zostel since during my visit to Spiti Valley last year I didn't got accomodation in Kibber due to unavailability of rooms. I visited Varanasi between 20-23 February 2020 for MahaShivratri celebrations and exploring the city and it was totally worth to stay at Zostel. The staff here is extremely helpful and I did met some amazing people there. I must say I'll be visiting Zostel across the country from now onwards for my future travel endeavors.

I m happy write this review coz it really made my time so much wonderful. The service is good, it's like they are the "Jinni", just ask them anything and it will be done instantly. There are really good and awesome people with whom you can hangout or share stuff you like, but for that you need to get out of the rooms and visit terrace 😂. It has a cafe on terrace and really good place to hangout. Lastly I would like to wish this team all the very best for their future. Keep the same spirit boys.😎

We found the place clean, the property chap Raj was a huge help in helping us plan the daily itinerary. They've a couple of boat ride options, do take the morning boat ride. However Ganga Aarti was a bit of a hype. The place has a roof top Cafe that serves decent food options, however the city has way too many options that you shouldn't miss. We faced issue with hot water throughout our stay of 3 days due to electrical failures in the vicinity may be, but the chaps there were very apologetic and we're trying their best to serve us. Overall it was a great stay.

Amazing place with same vibes. This is how I'm gonna describe Zostel varanasi. Located in the heart of the city,the property is near to Ghats, temple and all the lipsmacking streetfood that banaras has to offer. The hostel is pretty much clean and have super clean washrooms which is a must for hygienic purposes. The rooftop cafe provides good food and beverages to smack on. Whether you need some me time or you just need to chill out with friends, rooftop is a perfect place. Raj, Shubham and Ateesh are the perfect hosts in all sense and act as guides knowing all the getaways the city has to offer. Believe me when I say this, you won't regret your stay here!

From my experience zostel of varanasi is pretty good.But for outside activities we want to pay more eg: boat ride their cost is Rs250 but local cost is around Rs100. And about cleaning.Nice man Power of staffs they spread pleasent small all over the zostel.About cafe ...... Nice chaii .tuk tuk shivagi is a cool man helpfull for everything in varanasi.

Good places in affordable price. Excellent environment. Service manager is very good, friendly and good professional. The cafeteria place on the rooftop is incredible, here you can have refreshment, chat with other people and get energy for the next day tour. And last not the least all tourists places are reachable from here easily.

Amazing interiors, super supportive staff and a cozy space to sleep is all what a solo traveler needs. Zostel Varanasi is the perfect place for enjoying a holiday in Varanasi. Raj took great care of me and never let me feel that I was the only female residing in the property. The cafe provided me with simple yet tasty homely food. I stayed in the dorm where I met some amazing fellow travelers. It was a beautiful experience indeed.

Without doubt one of the favorite hotels I stayed during my time in Varanasi! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff and general manager, our names were mentioned on the board. The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant very flexible (appreciate this!) and the restaurant supervisor deserves a special thanks. We had two great evenings here, which obviously also added up to the experience in cafe which is the heart 💞 of hotel.
The second day we did a river side trekking which was guided by Raj (bhaiya), who works in the hotel as well. Raj is such a warm personality and highly motivated person (recommendable!). I truly enjoyed walking the three of us through the whole famous places in varanasi. The scenery was beautiful and it was a relieve to walk in such a quiet and peaceful environment. The natural bath on the end was a great way to end the trekking.
Note, this is not a hotel or so, but the atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me. All respect for the Raj who does a great job here; a true sample of excellent hospitality!

Yes, the dorms do have AC. There might be times when there is power cut (2-3 hours per day max) during which time ACs wont work. Otherwise all the rooms in Zostel Varanasi are air conditioned.
There is the facility of both AC and Non AC Dorms and the prices will vary. The rooms are considerably clean too.
For a 4 sharing AC dorm I paid 499 INR for one bed.
You can share a taxi from the airport, thats what i did and i was charged 150rs and we were 4 ppl or else you can call for Ola cabs outside the airport. You don't have to walk much. You can get down at the end of Luxa road... on the right hand side there is a lane, u head straight you will find Zostel.
it was one of the best from Zostel boat. a group of almost 35 people were on boat for 5 hours. had lassi, snacks and dinner on the boat. had lot of fun with crackers and music. must go next year. also they take you for sunrise boat trip. worth watching
