I had been travelling in India, with a friend, for 6 weeks before arriving in Varanasi alone as a single female traveler.I decided to check into Hotel Divya, after falling sick, as it looked a lot cleaner than many of the surrounding hotels/guesthouses. The reception staff were more than helpful, not only giving me a slightly cheaper rate on my room, but calling a Doctor out to the hotel for me whenever i needed it (which turned out to be around 5 times over the next 6 days). They were also prepared to get items, such as prescriptions for me, book train tickets and answer any questions i had.
The rooms have clean linens and the bathrooms have hot water and decent water pressure most of the time. They also have tv's with a couple of western channels on and 24 hour room service (over my time there i used the restaurant service, housekeeping and reception direct to my room, and all were fine).
Overall i would recommend Hotel Divya to friends.

Luckily, the nice man (Mr. Shukla) was working when we came to check in gave us a good deal on a room because my parents were staying here too. The value for what we paid was good but my parents who paid 1200 rupees for a non ac room werent that happy. The bedding and bathrooms were... More

Not recommend for any kind of traveler, rooms are dirty, bathroom is pathetic,tv never work, phone never worked, there was no proper lock at the door, no amenities, not even water. No hot water, the water flow was very slow it took almost 10 min to fill a bucket, When informed the receptionist : no one bother to check the room, when we asked to check out one of them come to check but nothing was happened. It was our mistake to stay at this hotel.
A big no to this hotel who so ever looking for it even in cheaper price.

Hi there, would like to let you all know about this hotel we found in Varanasi. It's absolutley spotless and about a two minute walk to the Ghats. We had another hotel booked but declined when we saw the cleanliness, our tuk-tuk driver took us to this one and we were very pleased. The rooms are a good size as is the bathroom and they were spotlessly clean. We got a good discount as well so that's always worth asking for. We had a trip down the Ganges in the evening which was prganised by the hotel but unlike other placess we have stayed the prices were not hyped up at all. We used the hotels restaurant called Yafar which is in the basement of the hotel and can thoroughly recommend their food. They have akitchen which you can see straight into and this also is spotlessly clean. If you are spending some time in Varanisi I would recommend that you stay at this hotel, as I have said it is very clean, the owners are very informative and the staff are very helpful too. Hope this helps some of you decide, you will not bve sorry yoou booked this hotel.

We arrived into Varanasi at 4:30am and immediately approached by a rickshaw driver. We asked him to take us to a hostel we had chosen and he seemed to know where we wanted to go. 20 minutes in his rickshaw our driver then decided to tell us that the hostel where we wanted to go had closed down and then very coincidentally pulled up outside Hotel Divya. We were told they had rooms available and could check in immediately. The price was 2000 rupees which when you are on a backpackers budget was extremely expensive yet as we were so extremely tired from our long day/night of travel we just wanted somewhere to sleep. When checking in we confirmed with the man who worked there that we were able to check out the following day. We were assured that this was correct and that our check out would be 12pm the following day. We went and had a few hours sleep and then went out for breakfast. We passed the counter a few times after this (funny enough our rickshaw driver was even sitting in the lobby one or two of these times) and being greeted every time. However when passing on our way out again at 2pm that same afternoon the manager then decided to ask us what time we would be checking out as checkout time was 12pm. He then proceeded to offer us a discounted rate of 1000 rupees if we wished to stay the night and check out the following day. After a a frustrating conversation with the very rude manager we went up to our room, packed our bags and walked to our original hostel which funny enough is still open and one of the best places I have stayed! So very disappointed in Hotel Divya that this scam was my welcome to Varanasi yet so very grateful that my new accommodation very quickly turned this around! P.S Wifi did it work once during the entire 7hours of our stay.

Very bad experience. Owner is very rude and greedy. Dirty and smelly rooms, cockroaches were running here and there.Entire room smells with cigarette smoke. There are other better hotels and guest house nearby. So better don't ever think of booking this hotel if you want to enjoy Varanasi.

A great place to stay in the Assi Ghat area. The rooms are reasonably priced, clean and the staff are very accommodating. It is just around the corner from the site of a small evening aartie and places to rent a boat for a sunrise ride on the Ganges. The restaurant is great too. The staff very patiently helped us to learn some Hindi. We really enjoyed staying there and will certainly stay there again during our next trip to Varanasi.
