We recently stayed at The Apurva Kempinski Bali for five nights having booked 2 x Grand Deluxe Rooms (interconnecting), and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. Our Grand Deluxe Room was spacious, well-appointed, and meticulously maintained. The décor was stylish yet warm, featuring high-end furnishings, a comfortable bed, and a stunning balcony with lush garden views. The bathroom was luxurious, with a deep soaking tub, a rain shower, and premium toiletries that added to the indulgence. Housekeeping was impeccable, ensuring our room was always spotless. Good job to the house keeping attendees. Your hardwork and dedication didn't go unnoticed.
The grand lobby with its breathtaking ocean views and traditional Balinese architecture creates an unforgettable first impression. The entire property is beautifully designed, seamlessly blending modern luxury with Balinese heritage.
The service at Apurva Kempinski was truly five-star. From the warm welcome at check-in to the attentive staff throughout our stay, every interaction was pleasant and professional. The team consistently went above and beyond to make us feel special, always greeting us with smiles and ensuring all our requests were met promptly.
The resort boasts an impressive selection of restaurants offering diverse cuisines. Pala Restaurant served an excellent breakfast buffet with a vast spread of international and local delights. We also enjoyed Izakaya by OKU for its refined Japanese flavors and Koral Restaurant for a unique underwater dining experience. Each meal was beautifully presented and delicious.
The infinity pool overlooking the ocean was a highlight, offering a serene and picturesque spot to unwind. The beachfront area was pristine, with sun loungers and attentive staff providing drinks and refreshments. The spa experience was also fantastic, with skilled therapists offering relaxing treatments in a tranquil setting.
Our stay at The Apurva Kempinski Bali was nothing short of extraordinary. The stunning architecture, exceptional service, luxurious amenities, and world-class dining made for an unforgettable getaway. Whether you're seeking relaxation, romance, or a lavish retreat, this resort is a perfect choice. We highly recommend it and would love to return in the future!

January 2023 was our first time in Bali and our first time at Apurva Kempinski, and boy we left with the best memory and experience that our family talked about it so much that we had to book for our next visit. We tried the villa this time around, and we were so glad we did. The experience was the best once again. The concierge, front desk, villa lounge, Izakaya, Reef beach Club, housekeeping and masseuse, everyone provided the best service. The best in the world I must say. We do think all luxury hotels must learn from Apurva Kempinski as we have not experienced the kind of service what Apurva Kempinski offers. For this trip, I would like to mention Chef Desak and her team (Wika, Wayan, Jonionta, Cahyani, Sikah and Virona) for all the delicious meals they prepared for us. We were always met with a smile and warmth. I love how they were very attentive, mindful and respectful. Chef Desak prepared us a special Balinese meal every morning with cut mangoes. Chef Desak gave me a quick lesson on how to make sambal matah. She enthusiastically showed me how and I was honoured for her to even grace me with her time. Thank you Chef!! 😊The team knew that my husband and I love our cappuccino in the morning and our daughter loves her mango juice, so they would readily prepared them for us. I understand the number of guests they receive each day and do not expect them to remember us and yet they do! They pay attention to details. I don’t know how they do it to everyone. It’s quite heart warming. We are very grateful to Chef Desak and her team. Also biggest thanks to Johanes and Pande. We arrived early and they tried their best to accommodate us. When we arrived at our Villa, we were met with delicious treats and gifts. So touching. Talking about attention to details, we only met Johanes briefly on our first day, and yet when we spoke to him the next day, he remembered us and knew exactly what villa we were in. I was surprised and amazed of his memory. Didn’t expect anyone to remember us considering the number of guests, but their attention to details is impressive and consistent across. The leads like Johanes and Chef Desak have great memory and keen eyes. The other team that we want thank are the masseuses. Special mention to Artik and Desak for giving us the best relaxation time. My husband had three treatments and all were amazing. Thank you to Dian from Izakaya. She served us twice and we learnt that she is part Japanese. She’s a lovely woman and made our dining experience special. Another lady we want to extend our gratitude is Anggi from Reef Beach Club, another lovely woman. We only met her on our last night but she sure made our last dinner special. Thank you Anggi. Finally, to the house keeping team who made our rooms clean, ensure our towels are clean, the areas are swept both inside and out, and our pool cleaned…we couldn’t thank you guys enough. I feel bad that they have to clean once a day let alone make up our beds twice a day. Thank you team housekeeping. Finally, to the Apurva Kempinski, you are the reason we return to your hotel. Thank you for making our family’s stay always special. See you soon! 😊

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I have travelled a lot but rarely write reviews as there’s usually some negatives and I’m conscious that mine is only one person’s opinion. But in this case, I’m going to make an exception because If you have the chance to experience heaven on earth, then you should take it.
We stayed in Rm 2091, which is a Junior Cliff Suite Ocean View, which was located on the 9th floor South Side and has its own private plunge pool and beautiful views out over w grounds, beach and ocean. The room was large with a king bed, a separate sitting area and a bathroom to the right. Both the room and bathroom looked out over the plunge pool and shared the same views. Everything was provided for, from lotions, loofahs, bathsalts etc. The shower pressure was customisable, as was the automated toilet/bidet all in one.
As part of the Cliff package, you get a minibar stocked with soft drinks, juices, beer and water. You also get chips, nuts, and Oreos! If you need restocking, it’s at your own cost.
The Cliff package also entitles you to exclusive Club Lounge access. We took advantage of the amazing breakfasts, served until noon, afternoon teas, served between 3-5pm and then cocktail hour between 5-7pm, the latter we had while lounging on sun beds/ swimming in the Level 9 pool and hydrospa. The cocktails (Mojitos, Cosmos, Martini’s, Margaritas, Pina Colada’s etc) weren’t watered down, they were perfect. The food was 11/10 exceptional, and good food (and service) is something I’m really fussy about.
The staff were exceptional too, every single one of them.
Finally, the architecture! This building is stunning, a work of art. Every detail thought through, down to the Labrodite stone flooring that makes you feel like you are looking at the sea as you walk on it.
This experience wasn’t cheap, but I still thought it was truly value for money given the experience. It was simply “next level”.

Our stay at Apurva Kempinski was wonderful. Facilities are exceptional and the staff were extremely accommodating and absolutely wonderful with our children especially the guys working by the kids pool (Tommy and ?)! We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa - it was lovely, extremely comfortable beds and pillows, but the rooms are on two separate levels which is not ideal when you have very small children who have to navigate down a large staircase if they wake in the night. The staff kindly lent us a baby monitor but it didn't make noise on our phones to alert us when the kids moved! they heavily dose the kids pool with chlorine and there were undissolved chemicals that you could see on some days. it really hurt our daughters eyes and our eyes to swim without goggles. The Japanese restaurant Izakaya was amazing - food and staff were great. The choice of restaurants was great. We had booked through Luxury Escapes and found that although lunch/ or dinner was included in our package, they do limit the options you are offered at all restaurants (noting Koral is not included). The options were ok but it was a bit disappointing that they didn't disclose this at the time of booking. The Reef Beach Club was great for children - a very relaxed vibe and good live music. The size of the meals was massive though, we couldn't ever get through 3 courses - would have rathered be offered all options but have the monetary value be capped so we didn't waste so much food. Same at Pala, the entrees were so massive (basically same as the mains)! My partner has a big appetite but even he found that it was too much food. The service is a bit slow as well which is fine if you don't have children but when you are rushing to get them home to bed it got a little frustrating at times. The Jalak Kids Club facilities were great but the organised activities weren't great - they didn't really 'facilitate' them - a bit more effort to hold coordinated activities and get all kids involved at the same time might help to get kids to feel comfortable to be left in the kids club without a parent (this should be the point). The cost of the cupcake decorating and donut decorating at $25 is a bit of a rort especially since it took about 5 minutes. The gym and yoga classes were great as were the massages at the Spa! The ladies in red were very willing to help with bookings and questions we had via WhatsApp which was really helpful. All in all a great stay but definitely some room for improvement.

From the moment you arrive at Apurva Kempinski Bali, the stunning architecture and grand lobby make a lasting impression. The resort is massive, with shaded pathways that make walking under the trees a joy—I found myself skipping the buggy just to soak it all in. Dining at the Japanese restaurant was fantastic, and the cozy vibe of the Reef Beach Club made breakfast there the perfect way to start the day. The housekeeping team didn’t miss a beat, and their laundry service, though pricey, was worth every penny. The spa was another highlight, with top-notch therapy sessions in beautifully designed rooms. I also loved the craft shop experience, where Mikhal and Cynthia patiently guided me through making a beaded bracelet. And honestly, the staff across the board were warm, welcoming, and always ready to go the extra mile to make my stay memorable.
That said, there were a few things that didn’t quite hit the mark. The Wi-Fi was frustratingly slow, and getting anything done through email or chat was nearly impossible—you had to pick up the phone for everything. The beach was disappointing, and the pools seemed oddly small given the grandeur of the property. The steps from the lobby to the kids’ pool, while stunning in photos, were steep and tricky to navigate. Breakfast at Palau was another letdown; there were plenty of options, but nothing that really stood out. In-room dining was a surprise too, and not in a good way—it was far below the standard you’d expect from a place like this. Despite these issues, the resort has so much to offer, and with a few tweaks, it could easily be exceptional.

Check in was seamless, we even got to check into our room an hr early, that was nice after a day of travelling with an 8 month old. Got to our room it was beautiful, private pool great view but the room had been smoked in and smelt terrible. ( I didn’t mention this until the next day, I should have called and they would have moved us but to be honest the baby needed a sleep and I couldn’t be bothered changing rooms, the smell did go away after a day) Next morning we had breakfast in the club, service was terrible so slow and even had to ask for coffee and plates to be cleared. This did improve on a few days depending on what staff were on, some mornings the service was amazing. It was very busy so you had to book all your dinners for the week we were staying as you could not walk in, that was fine and we had a what’s app you could message and they would do it for you so it made it very easy. Spa was pretty much booked out so we didn’t get any treatments. Went to yum char for lunch it’s all you can each but after an hr and a half we ended up leaving it was so slow when we would order it would take half an he for a dish to come out we didn’t bother staying for dessert. Koral restaurant was good, food was disappointing there was only one dish that I was like wow this is amazing, again after 2.5 hrs of waiting we asked for our dessert to be take away as our baby needed a sleep. Japanese was amazing really enjoyed that restaurant and the standard of food is very high. The beach club was our pick out of all the restaurants, the food was great, the service was quick, the staff were incredible , who ever is in charge of the beach club need to train the others as their customer service is by far the best in the whole resort. The rooms were cleaned beautifully every day and they always restocked our waters putting more out for the baby bottles. The staff at the pool were so kind and friendly. I feel like they have a lot of staff but most of them don’t really know what they’re doing or there is no sense of urgency to get anything done, yes I understand we’re on holidays but don’t waste my time, I don’t want to sit for hrs on end in a restaurant, I don’t want to wait 30mins for a coffee and I shouldn’t have to remind the staff I’m still waiting on this or that, they were always very apologetic but it gets annoying after a week of doing it. This is meant to be one of the best resorts in Bali. I’m not sure if they need more training or they’re over worked but something needs to change to get the Kempinski to a five star review. All in all the stay was ok, I’m not sure if I’ll be back.

The Apurva Kempinski is the most magnificent resort I have ever experienced. We stayed in a Cliff Private Pool suite for 6 nights and it was spacious and comfortable with a private pool that overlooked the resort. The bathroom was huge with two separate sinks , a bath and great shower. It had a separate walk in area for you to hang your clothes, keep your suitcases with a safe for your valuables. I would highly recommend you get a room with access to the Lounge as it provides a magnificent range of food for breakfast including a la carte so you can order eggs and omelettes as well as Indonesian and Asian choices. It also provides afternoon tea in the afternoon with more food choices and then free flow drinks, including cocktails for two hours each night…. Incredible. It also has its own pool for guests to use who are staying in the Club rooms. The resort has various restaurants to choose from, including Japanese, Chinese, Indian / Indonesian and the reef club on the beach which has more relaxed western choices like burgers, pizzas etc. Tried them all and can highly recommend. There are also two huge pools and despite being busy we always got a lounge. The private beach has a huge number of lounges but get there in the morning because, at low tide, there is NO water to swim in. There is also a Spa and we enjoyed a massage that was heavenly. Even on day of checkout they allowed us to use all the hotel facilities until we got picked up in the evening. The resort is huge but it never feels crowded. However what makes this the BEST resort are the staff. They are the incredible with the way they are always smiling and offering to help. Their generosity of spirit is humbling. Everyone of them is welcoming and most remember your name. Nothing is too much trouble. While we loved them all I must give a special thank you to Dedi and Raos who spoiled us with service whoever they saw us. The only bad thing is that the Kempinski has SPOILED us ….. we can never stay anywhere else that will be as good as this!!! Congratulations on ensuring that when we return, this is the ONLY place we could stay!

The staff are very friendly. You explained everything to your customer's convenience. Take care of everything you need. And the breakfast buffet was good until 12:00. Sleep late and eat less. Good and delicious. Fully satisfied. - Eg Benedict, Scrapball, Nah, Lang, the buffet was delicious. If somebody comes, it's totally shitty.
The Resort is big and good. When you leave the room, you press the button not to interrupt by accident, and you come in the evening. You pressed the button to clean it. You came and cleaned it.
The check-out time is 12: 00, but the flight time is 20: 00, so we can keep our luggage in there and continue to use the facilities inside.
So satisfied that I leave my real estate.

We ate at the hotel a year ago and it was exceptional and that persuaded us to book a 2 night stay at the end of a 4 week holiday in Asia. We wanted a luxurious, 5 star experience to finish our holiday on a high. We booked a large lagoon access room for around $USD550 per night. We had to change rooms due to poor cleaning and a terrible smell in our first room. Food and beverage services are very expensive and the quality is highly variable and we had very long waits (despite reservations), and had to return drinks that were poorly made etc. Staff are keen to resolve issues, but for arguably one of the best 5 star hotels on the island, training, attention to detail, quality and consistency is a significant issue. The lagoon pool of our room was not working correctly and was full of garden debris - not at all inviting for a swim. This was resolved once we pointed out the problem, but again for a hotel of this standard and price, it should never have happened in the first place. The decor and lobby area are sumptuous and lovely, but a bit soulless at night without live entertainment, - evening candles and hurricane lamps are not working properly or consistently etc. All in all, there is a lack of attention to detail about creating the right experience and atmosphere for guests. Compared with our visit a year ago, service standards and the luxurious quality vibe is lacking. The gardens look unhappy, plants need pruning and some TLC, gardens need weeding around the lagoon access rooms. I would NOT recommended a lagoon access pool, the drain around the infinity pool edge is full of rotting leaves and has a strong musty smell you notice when the fountains are turned off. The property is showing a fair amount of wear and tear (decking unstable to walk on and bouncy, broken tiles on pool edges, stained upholstery etc). Unless you can get a great promotional deal, stay elsewhere like the St Regis, (which we have found to be exceptional), if you want a quality high end experience.

This place is just jaw-dropping from the moment you walk in. The one word I'd use to describe the property is "grand". First, check-in. We stayed in an ocean junior cliff suite, so we had a dedicated check-in team in the Cliff Lounge. The check-in process was more complicated than it needed to be, getting hung up on me not having the credit card I made the booking with about 8 months ago. The stay was prepaid in full, so I don't see what the issue was, but it was apparently their policy. The room was absolutely spectacular, with a beautiful view of the ocean, a very large bathroom with everything you could need, a massive and comfortable bed, and of course the large private pool. Shortly after getting to the room, someone arrived with a cake and a bottle of champagne for us (it was our honeymoon, so complimentary). The cake was chocolate and delicious, the champagne was honestly terrible and we each only had a few sips. But hey, it's the thought that counts I suppose. We then explored the massive property, from the several pools, the gym, spa, restaurants, etc. The daily breakfast at the Cliff Lounge was about 6.5/10 in quality, especially compared to some other resorts in Bali. The staff is always very friendly and attentive, the food just isn't anything special. The Cliff Lounge also has afternoon tea from 3-5 and complimentary drinks from 5-7, which we took advantage of. The light bites at tea are fine, but I wasn't expecting much (mostly desserts). The cocktails at the lounge are honestly fantastic. We had dinners at Bai Yun (average), Pala (great) and the Izakaya (underwhelming). The gym is better than most gyms you'll find at a resort and the spa was fantastic (and also massive). The architecture and details at this resort are truly next-level and had me in awe during our entire 4-day stay. Upon check-out, we again hit a snag on some prices charged to our room that were incorrect and took forever for them to fix. We were irritated how not a single person during our entire stay asked how anything was, almost as if they were programmed to not receive feedback (which seemed to be a common thing across all places we stayed in Bali). There were multiple times when we wanted to discuss an issue but were never given the opportunity. Overall, I'd say this hotel is a 7/10 (so 3.5 stars), but a 3 is too harsh so I gave it 4. I probably wouldn't return and would instead check out another resort if I came back to Nusa Dua.

Hi, you can snorkel off the beach but you won't see much. The hotel can help you organise a day trip to Nusa Lembongan, a great day trip and there are lots of great snorkelling places around the island.
There are more places to choose from in the Nusa Dua area.
