I went to get a drink on de Bale bar and lounge, and I watch a show they do with fire, was amazing, the service was perfect and cosy by Lilik, she is an amazing waitress, very attentive and friendly. And all the staff as well, I will be back soon!! I love it 😍
This is the fifth time I have stayed in Nusa Dua spanning a 25 year period and the second time I have stayed at the Laguna (the last time 6 years ago). I have also stayed at the Melia twice and the Nusa Dua beach resort hotel in the same area (all were decent by the way) but I have to say that the Laguna is the best one. We stayed 14 nights from 1st-15th August as a family of four with two interconnecting rooms as we had a great holiday here 6 years ago. Firstly the hotel itself. It is on our favourite bit of beach in Nusa Dua and is currently undergoing some renovations (as most hotels are due to the G20 finance ministers visiting in November). That said, you could not hear any work happening where the new rooms are being worked on and you would have to look for where this is going on. I think they are nearly done here (there is still extensive work going on at the Westin hotel next door I notice though but that does not affect guests at the Laguna.) What I like most about the hotel grounds are its setting in gardens and the extensive lagoons around the buildings, none of which look like a huge corporate monstrosity that you see with some of the newer modern hotels in Bali. Basically there is a very homely feel about the place that the staff make a conscious effort to enhance. We had two newly renovated rooms and they were gorgeous, such an upgrade from the older rooms we had six years ago especially the bathrooms. The new lobby is stunning as well with a great Murano chandelier the centrepiece. The main pool was very quiet in the morning but got livelier later on as the sun got hotter. It was never loud and there are some nice big floating beanbags available to laze on . There are also many saltwater lagoons around the property and you can literally swim out of the lagoon access rooms and right round the property and under a waterfall though we were not in a lagoon room but a standard one a bit higher up. The beach is gorgeous of course and you can walk right out to the reef when the tide is out and when the tide is in the water is almost always crystal clear. On a clear day, the volcano in the north of the Island (Mt Agung) is clearly visible. Overall the real differentiator for this hotel are the staff. I know this is a long read but there are some that I want to acknowledge. They all knew our names and treated us like royalty. For example, every morning at the very extensive and delicious breakfast buffet, we were able to select the (many) dishes we wanted but also, a couple of the hosts there would learn what we picked up each day and bring us dishes of pastries and plates of fruit to adorn our table as well as creating special smoothies for us all. They worked tirelessly (Thanks Pratama and Sukasana) and they would come and offer us some indigenous dishes to try specially created by the chef and even cooked dishes specifically for us. The managers such as Ayu and Shintya would come and ask how we were each day and what our plans were. It was a marvellous experience and made us feel like VIPs….small things like that are what makes a 5 star resort in my opinion. We chose to do the epicurean journey one morning as we all enjoy cooking and this was where the chef took us to a fish market near Jimbaran Bay (Kadunganan) to select some freshly caught fish from the market and then we came back and prepared and cooked the meal outside with the chef. One of the managers at the main restaurant that had looked after us at breakfast and really got to know us (Shintya) joined us and we were then able to create and eat the delicious meal. A great experience. Basically from sea to lunch table…..I would seriously recommend this experience. On the subject of food, the great breakfast service is at Banyubiru but they also have Arwana open in the evening where you can dine on the beach, Its not cheap but given the fact it is a resort hotel and you are on a beautiful beach (literally if you want) I don’t think it is too bad price-wise (with the exception of wine which is overpriced everywhere in Bali not just here). The food is excellent. Another example of the great service was that one of the pool guys (Suandi) got to know us when we arrived at the pool and reserved seats for us and chatted to us each morning about the weather, the island, our plans and generally asked after our wellbeing. There are two bars at The Laguna, The Kulkul beach bar where myself and my daughter had some great chats with Purna (means Half-Moon) about the differences between our cultures and he gave us a great insight into how Indonesians live while the service was always impeccable with a great dash of humour. Yogi was also a great host at this bar as was Jessica round the pool during the day. The other bar is new and called 'de Balé’ where we always enjoyed chatting to the lovely Armini who went over and above to look after us. She used to come out and say hello every time we walked past. You can also get a light meal here like a Nasi Going or some Sate. Its very difficult to single people out like I have when everyone was superb and treated us like royalty but I always find Balinese people lovely and the staff at the resort take this to another level. One last example of how this happens is that I contacted the Hotel before I left the UK to ask about the Spa and to arrange a transfer and Daria (I think I got the name right) used WhatsApp to answer all my questions and anything else we needed even though I realised it was 5am in Bali. Nothing is ever too much trouble for anyone. To all the above and anyone else I have missed, thank you. I highly recommend this resort. You all know the beach and the area are nice but the new renovated rooms and most importantly, the staff make this the best hotel I have stayed in here and a reason why we will again travel right across the world in the future to visit Bali.…
Luxury and beautiful atmosphere. nice staff. enjoyable place at night so many bars in front of ocean. We stayed pool assess room . breakfast was amazing.also spa and massage enjoyable. Thanks Laguna;) Respect Atieh
This is a great hotel, with great service, and the newly renovated rooms are very nice. I love the lighter, more beach-inspired decor, light coloured floor and the balconies. Our meals were very good, though our breakfast did happen to the sound of drilling... The breakfast buffet is delicious and the great service made it even more enjoyable. The hotel has several pools one can enjoy, as well as a lovely beach with lounge chairs. All in all it was a lovely stay, and I wished I could have stayed for another couple of days! Please be aware that this hotel is currently under renovation (Jan 2023), one entire wing is closed, as well as one of the restaurants, and there is noise all day (and for one of the construction near the lagoon, all night as well with bright lights). So make sure to ask for a room looking out to the outside of the resort. …
We chose The Laguna due to the proximity to an event we were attending at the Peninsula Island (short, comfortable walking distance) and was pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed the place. Absolutely loved the pools (all hotels should have saltwater pools) and how amazing the beach was. Calm, clean and fairly quiet if not for the Coca Cola regional event set up and sound tests (which was annoying and disruptive) and a neighbouring hotel blasting loud music for some reason. Despite that, we really liked the beach and wish we had a longer break. The room we got was spacious, with a balcony which we really liked. Service and staff were perfect, helpful, warm, friendly and efficient. F&B was amazing too, I think we had meals at all the restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner and loved it, although for Indonesian dishes I wish the kitchens would not tone down the spiciness - don't pander to European tastes! Anyway, great place to stay and would definitely stay here again, but hopefully without the noise and disruption from a Coca Cola regional meeting/event - some of their employees were awful, had to call security as they were partying loudly in the next room.…
Stayed here for 2 weeks. Beautiful resort, very clean. Nice rooms. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Good restaurants with vegetarian options. Shopping mall within walking distance. Definitely coming back.
The Laguna has a collection of large salt and fresh pools so you can choose to be with the kids or hideaway on your own! There are kids activities but not a kids club where you can leave the kids. Dining options are a trifle limited since one restaurant is closed for renovation but the menu is fine and breakfast is great (and with so many tables there never is a crush as in many other luxe resorts). Also it is a nice stroll to a nearby high end shopping mall with several excellent restaurants (Italian, Seafood, Indian etc.) The staff is experienced (unlike several other hotels in Bali) and the service is polite, friendly and efficient. One of the nicest Nusa Dua options especially if you are not into a Club Med environment!
We visited the Gym during our trip. Gym very clean and well maintained. Staff very friendly and professional. Agus offered a free one to one personal training and guided me during our training. Thanks Agus! You are a Pro Bro!
This hotel is currently undergoing maintenance and upgrade work and at present is rather a big construction site than a place you will want to stay. We have been before and it‘s usually lovely - and I‘m sure it will be even more so once done. But as of today, 17 January 2023, construction is in full swing. Jack hammers, drilling etc, especially near the beach, where you would usually want to relax. We wanted to stay at this place but found out pretty much by chance that „some light renovation“ was going on. This info was hidden as one of three PDF attachments to an email. Nothing was mentioned on the phone, even though we had a few conversations with the front desk and reservation team. Luckily we saw that PDF, but I wanted to alert other travellers. We chose another hotel nearby after all but went over to have a look - and I‘m very, very happy we did not stay here this time. Of course it‘s important the hotel upgrades, but the staff should be trained to be a lot clearer about what‘s going on.…
My husband and I have stayed at the Laguna on a number of occasions, but the latest trip in August 2022 was by far the best. Our family holiday celebrating my husbands 60th was initially booked for June 2020, but due to the pandemic everything was put on hold. Not only did the Laguna honour the booking with regards to price , they upgraded us to an executive suite. Thank you so much to Made and her team for making that possible. The renovations are amazing, and the staff are still the best in Bali. My daughters, their husbands and my grandsons, ages 6 & 3 were treated like royalty, nothing was too hard for the staff. On behalf of my family, thank you so much to the Laguna staff for making this trip so memorable. Lucy, Made and team, see you again in January 2023. Cant wait...... …
