Had to admit that we got a good value when we stayed there from a friend. Was an excellent stay for our honeymoon.. despite the secluded location, the staff are more then happy to take us anywhere around Ubud. The room was awesome as they upgraded our room for free (this is upon availability), but all the rooms at Michi...

Michi Retreat was to be our first port of call on our first trip to Indonesia and first overseas trip for our two children aged 10 and 8. I booked Michi based on its website and reviews, some good and some which were average. As with any place booked without personal recommendation I was extremely nervous. My nerves proved to...

We came to Michi and had a very relaxing time there. The staff was very friendly, the food quite good and not to speak of the individual furnished rooms: amazing. If you go there stay at the Japanese Room, GREAT!! We loved staying there for almost a week... Manuela & Carsten

We stayed at the Nagare 3 bedrooms villa with private pool n jacuzzi. Very down to earth n one has to compromise that this is NOT the usual hotel stat n thus facilities n room amenities are not full. No toothbrush, no extensive bathroom amenities, no buffet breakfast but simple set breakfast. Lots of stairs n long walk to our...

The Michi Retreat is a great place if you an artist or writer who needs a quiet and inspiring location to produce a body of work. If you're not an artist, this place might inspire you to be one! There is no TV, or dvd player in your room to distract you from what you've set out to do. However,...

Michi Retreat is definitely not for everyone. My first impression was of great disappointment. However the place did grow on me. Unfortunately this does not change the fact that the place is over priced. There are many good points but for the money the bad points are not worth it. Good -Gorgeous river and terraced rice paddy views from most...

I've really enjoyed reading others' reviews here and in fact it was through Tripadvisor reviews that I stumbled upon this Retreat in the first place. I understand exactly how so many reviewers wax lyrical about their inner harmony in this proverbial utopia, the most amazing place they've ever stayed at, the Professor's incredible vision, the experience like no other..... while...

a deep sense of intimacy pervades and sets off your path into this little enchanting gem of a one man's "canaan". the sounds of the gushing river in your breath's sight, the aura of a native's land, and how this place comes into being, you'd probably never want to be anywhere else again. your sense of being enlarges almost as...

What do you want in a hotel stay? A good night sleep? For me, this hotel while very lovely and while the staff is also very lovely, didn't work for a relaxing stay. I did not sleep well any night so I struggle rating this as 3 for average or 2 for poor. I honestly can't remember ever getting a...

I don't generally write any kind of review about anywhere I have stayed before but I felt I had to share my experience of the Michi Retreat with others! It is a beautiful place to stay - very peaceful and just completely relaxing! Each room has a different theme based on the owners travels and the artifacts that he has...
