The Sungu is a small, pretty hotel in Penastanen. you can walk into Ubud center, but you also feel removed from the ever-increasing crowds. The property is clean, the breakfast is tasty. Probably the best part of the Sungu are the people who work there. They are helpful, friendly, and will help you learn Indonesian! Note: we stayed here because...

The Sungu Resort is a really nice place, close to the Ubud center (15 min walk) but also secluded enough. Staff is nice and friendly. Really loved the free shuttle rides to the Ubud center (Saves time and money).

This small resort, has a lot of rustic Balinese charm, but still offered large rooms, which were clean and tidy. Our room had a wonderful outside shower, and we had access to two large shared pools, which you need to relax in from the heat of the day. Although the resort is relatively basic, it had all the charm and...

The most incredible hotel experience ever. Firstly, we had never been to Bali before, so we were unaccustomed to the incredible hospitality and service. Nevertheless, we were blown away by the staff at this place. Ruta and especially Sembah, who kindly drove us to the airport on our day of departure for a very reasonable price. Pool incredible, in my...

The Sungu Resort was amazing! Everything about our holiday at the resort was fantastic. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, no request was too difficult. We stayed in a private pool villa which was amazing, so comfortable. The beds were really comfy, bathroom was huge, shuttle service into Ubud was readily available. Cannot recommend the Sungu Resort highly enough,...

Very charming family hotel with private pools. Rooms are big, spacious with mosquitoes nets. Open bathroom which brings unexpected animals and insects into your room but reception is more than happy to remove them for you. Free shuttle to town centre and free breakfast.

Short version: Huge room with heavenly outdoor bathtub, staff are friendly and mostly helpful, in-town taxi service is included, 5 star by Australian standards, I found a great price on Booking.com. Long version: I loved my huge room with strong air conditioning, high ceilings, beautiful (presumably) traditional decor, and an outdoor bathroom with a huge tub (note: the entire bathroom...

My husband and I stayed here with our 3 sons aged 8, 11 and 12. We had an amazing 4 night stay here, staying in a 2 bedroom villa with our own private pool. It felt secluded! The staff were so friendly and accommodating and we were had access to the complimentary shuttle bus to Ubud centre. The continental breakfast...

We stayed at The Sungu resort for a couple days in early February with my wife and baby. The hospitality was spot on, We arrived at 4am and we still got a very warm welcome. The pool was nice and the breakfast was good. We stayed in the superior room which was really pretty - it was a standalone building...
