I've just spent four blissfully peaceful and regenerative days at beautiful Umajati Retreat, and I can't recommend this quiet sanctuary with its lush gardens and superb staff more highly. Umajati is set a little outside busy Ubud, which is however easily accessible if you can bear to tear yourself away. You can choose between two 100-year-old Javanese teak houses, transported...

Thank you so much and we are so happy you enjoyed your stay with us. We love it when our guests enjoy the quiet and beautiful nature here - and yes, the staff are wonderful and caring. We just hosted a wedding reception here and it was such a beautiful event! The Threads of Life dye studio which is on...

We have just spent five nights at Uma Jati. It was excellent. We travelled with our children, three years old and 10 months. We were all set to book a posh five star Canadian resort through a travel agent but I was reluctant to go to a resort for our whole trip for a number of reasons. I heard of...

Thank you so much for your detailed comments. I am so sorry we were not there to meet you but knew that the staff would take good care of you. They were happy to have you cook what you needed for your little ones and yes they are so good at being there for the children - Balinese are the...

I was worried this place is a little outside of Ubud but delighted in how secluded it seemed and was a 10 minute or less drive to Ubud. The staff took us anytime we wanted that was include in the price. We booked of 4 nights and then went to Ubud but wished we would have stayed in Paradise!! I...

Words can not describe how amazing Umajati Retreat is. We decided to elope while staying at Umajati a couple of weeks ago. All of the staff were so incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to make our day as special as they could. Everything about this place is incredible, the houses full of culture and the surrounding landscapes. So...

Ahhh what a treat it was to host our first elopement wedding!! Such fun for the staff - the Balinese are the original and most extraordinary event organisers!! We are even thinking we might think about doing some kind of organising ourselves after seeing how much fun it was to do with you all! Your children were just gorgeous! and...

My wife and I, plus our 13-month-old son spent four nights at the Bugoharjo (1-bedroom) house. The lovely space of Umajati is just what we needed in our quick escape from Singapore. Peaceful and beautiful, quiet but for the lovely sounds of night bugs and some roosters in the distance. The house is a spacious and gorgeously renovated 100-year-old Javanese...

We so enjoyed you all staying with us and yes, the Balinese are the best ever in their care and delight for children! I am happy you enjoyed the nightly chorus of frogs, crickets and geckos - they are such a dreamy way to go to sleep. We have many lightning bugs in the rice fields right now as their...

We (2 adults and 3 children) stayed in Wates Bangbau. Having just spent 9 tiring hours traveling halfway across Indonesia to get there, everyone's response was "wow". Beautiful house, beautifully decorated, with plenty of room, and lovely touches everywhere you look. The staff were friendly, very helpful and efficient. The kids loved running around in the garden, finding flowers and...

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I am so glad you got to see that procession. Sometimes it is more spectacular to see the unexpected! We stopped in the Wates Bangbau - 2 Bedroom House with our 12 and 15 year old children. On arrival the only phrase that came out was "wow". We love that response of "wow" - as you come through the beautiful coconut grove through the gates and into the heritage houses. So so glad you enjoyed your time with us. We just loved that you never left the property AND that you enjoyed the food. It was a treat to have you and so glad that you left feeling refreshed.
