Nice javanese compound, in the heart of old Solo, the first impression is "wow", but the rooms are very small and hot. But they have a wonderful Pool, that`s why our girls loved the place!! While staying in amazing Cakra Hotel, we met Wayu - a nice guy who is working there as a guide. During our two days stay Wayu took us to many interesting spots in Solo, includying a local big mosque where we've seen a beautiful religious celebration, a restaurant where they serve cobra blood and meat and a wayang kulit performance...

Cakra homestay is an old batik factory adapted for a hostel, and you can see it history in all its buildings - in Jawanese traditional style. The rooms are basic but very clear and cheep ( for 120.000Rp with breakfast) and tea, coffee for free anytime. Also you could use the swimming pool. The staff has extensice knowledge of Javanese...

I've found Cakra homestay with my friend, a student like me, looking for a cheap accommodation in Solo. We moved there after staying in another similar price-range place.
