The Hotel Majapahit Surabaya garners praise for offering exceptional value, with guests often delighted by the quality accommodations relative to the price, which includes special deals and room upgrades. Its central location on Jalan Tunjungan makes it a convenient choice for visitors, who also admire its historic charm and serene atmosphere. The hotel's service receives accolades for being exceptional and attentive. While the rooms are celebrated for their spaciousness and luxurious feel, a few maintenance issues have been called out. Amenities such as the well-maintained pool and lush gardens are popular, though some suggest a need for modernization. Cleanliness is another strong point, with the hotel maintaining a well-kept environment, although more tissues in rooms could improve the experience.

Majapahit is one of the most beautiful hotels in world, in grand style, with carefully preserved colonial heritage. The rooms are very specious and stylish- more like apartments- with a sitting room, bedroom and very chique bathroom. Majapahit has lots of antique furniture, stained glass windows and elements from the beginning of the 20th century, yet all guest comfort is top quality and to the highest nowadays standards. The gardens offer a resort atmosphere in the midst of the busy city of Surabaya: from your room you only hear birds and smell flowering trees.
The management, notably mr. Eddie, makes sure you feel like an honored personal guest. The staff regularly offers nice extra’s to make you feel special. i hope to come back here!

Staying at the Hotel Mahajarit was blissful. We were only in Surabaya to break up the long train trip from Yogyakarta to the ferry terminal for Bali. Happily, we followed the advice of the rail guru, The Man in Seat 61, not to miss this place. Built in 1911 and richly historic, it’s a cool haven in the heart of the city. In an upgraded room, we could not have been more comfortable or appreciative of the value we were receiving. Public areas and the pool are maintained impeccably, and my traditional aromatherapy massage in the hotel spa was superb. The included breakfast buffet offers an extraordinary range of items, and the lunch and two dinners we ate in the hotel were delicious. Bravo to all the hard work to make the hotel function so well after so many years.

A special thanks to Arie, the front office manager, who was very friendly, helpful and was quick to attend to the repair of the safe in our room. All staff were warm, polite and friendly. The hotel is steeped in history, the rooms are built around lovely gardens, are very large (500sq feet) and is wheelchair friendly, as there are many rooms on the ground floor. We wish to make clear that we felt very safe and comfortable, and certainly did not see any ghosts. The area close to the bedrooms is quiet and this is probability why the rumours of ghosts have been circulating.

Thank you too, to Pak Edie, who patiently showed us around the hotel. The presidential suite is absolutely opulent and grand. I would highly recommend going on the daily tour of the hotel, which is open to public.

The hotel is very centrally located and is close to Tunjungan Mall , a huge mall, with every retail outlet that you can imagine. BG Junction which is also walking distance from the hotel, is a mid-range mall , with many shops selling batik garments , jewellery etc.

I would definitely recommend Hotel Majapahit to anyone who likes heritage hotels.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Booked the room with balcony facing the garden. The room was spacious. The bathroom have shower and bath tub. Requested for twin bed and added extra bed, we still have so much space!
The building was well maintained and full of historical detail. Love the location. It was walking distance to Tunjungan Plaza.
During our stay there were small hiccup when we were going for breakfast on day 1. For the additional 1 person, they asked us to pay which we informed the front office that the extra bed was included breakfast.
Day 2, there was a big event just outside our hotel. So the main road was blocked. The taxi couldn't stop at the lobby, we had to walk about 3km with full of people on the road. Quite stressful.
Overall, I'm quite happy.

The hotel located in the center Surabaya city so its easily be accessed from everywhere. The hotel was old but well maintained. If you are alergy to old smell, you better avoid this hotel. The service was superb! They gave a surprised cake for my husband birthday. I was surprised, they even knew my husbannd's name whereas I didnt tell them.
Once, the shower from our room couldnt work well, the engineering came fast and mixed them.
The swimming pool is well maintained. Be careful for the mosquito! Because of the hotel have great great great beautiful garden, there are a lot of mosquitoes eventhough the hotel regularly does mosquito fogging.
Breakfast in weekdays was ala carte, buffet breakfast only served on weekend.
Parking location was behind/besides the main building. Make sure you drop all the baggage in lobby area before go to parking lot. There are a lot of stairs to get parking lot from hotel building.

Stayed in this hotel two times (25-26 Feb and 6-8 Mar) in two different types of room. My first stay was in Classic Room. The room itself was located on the second floor and quite far from the lobby area, actually the alley was dimmed and somehow not comfortable for some guests (especially the locals). The room was well maintained with spacious feel, and also equipped with sofa to relax yourself. However the downside of this room type is the number of lights are not sufficient enough and some of the electrical outlets are not conviniently located. Hopefully the management will renovate the Classic Room and relocate (also adding) some electrical outlets that is convenient to charge cellphone on the bedside table or to charge laptop computer on the working desk.

My second stay was in Heritage Suite, which was newly renovated with new 55 inches Smart TV, wallpaper, and modern carpets. The amount of lamps in that room were sufficient and the room was brightly-lit. Appreciate the reception team that gave me the newly renovated Heritage Suite. However the electrical points on the working desk should be moved on the upper side near the desk itself.

The breakfast in Indigo Restaurant was also okay, with moderate choices. The rawon and omelette were nicely prepared.

Overall, despite some downside of this hotel, I recommend this hotel for those who want to stay in the heart of Surabaya with spacious room and nice atmosphere. The hotel is not spooky though :)

Beautiful historical hotel. Staff are friendly and approachable. My friend cancelled my reservation by mistake. The hotel front staff gave us discount for twin bed and breakfast.

My friend cut her hand at night and the hotel staff responded quickly by coming to our room and bandaged for her.

Areas of improvement is there is little tissue paper in room. Also when I turned on the tap at bath tub, the water was brown and dirty. These checks should be done before guest check in.

Nevertheless good experience stay.

This hotel has history. One of the oldest hotel (if not the oldest) in Surabaya, so it was an experience to stay in this hotel with its colonial-style decoration.

My room was spacious although it was "just" a double room, with a balcony toward the inner courtyard. Service was generally spotless and there's a gym and pool that y could use during your stay.

The location couldn't get any better being in the city center, just few walks away from Tunjungan Plaza should you need to purchase anything.

The reason why I booked a night at this hotel on my quick transit in Surabaya was pure because of my curiosity about the experience. This an old hotel, I know, with a lot of historical stories that occurred in the past. During check-in, it was smooth. However, it was kind of strange that the hotel still asked for a deposit even after I completed my payment in advance. I've never been asked to make a deposit in any Accor Hotels before, so yeah this is a new policy for me.
Before I came, one of the staff from the hotel has already emailed me about my time of arrival, so when I entered the room everything had already been settled. Cakes, notes, and fruits are ready. My room has been sanitized, clean and cool. The room situation is nice, but I hardly found any normal electrical socket (220V with 2 gangs, common use in Indonesia) since almost all sockets are American types.
I got the chance to get my welcome drink at the lounge, and it was a very nice ambiance at the lounge which is located in the hotel lobby.
I came during Ramadhan month, so for the breakfast option, I choose to use it for Sahur. Unfortunately, maybe because the guests who stayed in the hotel will do fasting at are minimum, the Sahur food is delivered to my room instead of at the restaurant. I was skeptical at the beginning but when the food comes, wow it was a very nice and complete option. The main course, soup, snacks, along with Juice, Fruits, and Tea are more than enough to fulfill my Sahur.
Also due to Ramadhan, I didn't have a chance to use the pool and gym, but from what I see it should be good, the gym offers a wide range of equipment, while the pool, even though it was small but so clean and fresh.
Maybe if I come again in the future with families, I will reconsider staying here, longer than just a night.

The Majapahit is a very impressive hotel with an extremely rich history yet restored professionally, so that its original personality, structure and all the refine colonial touches isn't compromised. Every little detail that goes into the hotel's interior and decoration are meticulously calculated and fitted, so that it doesn't look out of place. Landscaping and upkeep of the lawns and flora is also very detailed and the many Stag-horns and Traveller Palm living there looks glorious and healthy.

I was warmly greeted by the charming and pleasant Nevia of the front desk upon my arrival , and throughout my few days stay her equally capable colleagues Natan, Bella and even the Valet were always courteous and professional. Bella even jotted down a list of Indonesian restaurants for me. Every personnel I encountered was pleasant and polite. Nevia is very knowledgeable about the Majapahit's rich heritage and I benefited much during my conversations with her ... Matur Nuwun sanget iya :)

The pool and gym is discreetly tucked away somewhere in the middle wing, and I must confess there are more than enough workout facilities for a hotel gym. The spa is also strategically located in the same area, so that one can just crawl next door for a much needed rub down subsequently.

In this new era of times, Im just very blessed to be able to experience a classic and revered hotel such as The Majapahit of Surabaya.

I believe you can request from the hotel before booking/checking in. Do note, while we were there, one inner courtyard was rented out for a birthday event and the music was so loud we requested for a room change so we could rest quietly. Each courtyard facing rooms seem to have slightly more privacy than those on the corridors.
