I am visiting Jeju Island around 4 times per year for business. I have stayed at several other hotels nearby but the good side of Shilla Stay is maybe its location only. The room is not big but similar to other hotels around Yondong. It is clean and overall well maintained. But the wallpaper is wrinkled. TV is too small and there are no drawers to put things inside. The lobby was too cold. The room was also cold when I checked in. It was about 18 C, but it took around 5 hours to reach around 24 C. When I request wine glasses and a corkscrew, they required me to walk down to the lobby for pickup instead of delivering to the room. Even worse, they charged me 10,000 KRW for a safety deposit for the corkscrew, which I have never experienced at any other hotels. The staffs are not friendly either. They don't listen to the customer.…
Hotel is close to the airport and room was clean but small and not sound proof at all. You can hear upstairs unit moving chairs around and everything from outside all night from cars, motorcycles to people yelling on the streets at 1am. Our room was on the 7th floor. Also, not very good ventilation in the rooms. It’s okay if you have the fan on but that also got a bit noisy when trying to sleep. Overall, not worth the money and was not the best stay to end our trip. Unfortunately, I don’t think I will stay here again.
I stayed at the Shilla Stay hotel at Jeju in the context of a scientific conference that lasted for a couple of days. The hotel is ideally located, very close to plenty of restaurants, bars and shops that can be reached by foot. Moreover, the airport is not too far away by taxi. The room was nice, quite large and perfectly clean. The bed was very comfortable, which definitely helped me to recover from the heavy jetlag. I was happy to discover a working space (desk and chair) that was not too small, so that I could spend some time in the room to efficiently work. This was in particular made easy thanks to the Internet connection was reliable and quite fast. The bathroom was also quite spacious, and clean. The breakfast buffet was amazing, and it included a well-balanced admixture of Korean-style and Western-style dishes. I would finally like to emphasise that the hotel staff was very helpful and professional. To summarise in a few words: I will go back and definitely recommend the place. Everything was perfect, for all aspects (room, staff, location).…
I didn't like the location of this hotel. There was not much in the neighborhood to walk around and see. I had to take taxis to every site, tourist attraction, or shopping area I wanted to visit, and taxis on the island are not cheap. I wish I had chosen a better location. Aside from that, the lobby is very attractive. But the front desk staff were a little cold and not helpful when I had questions. The room was fine. It was clean and had everything I needed. The view was not good - I overlooked an industrial building's roof. I wish I had know ahead of time because the island is beautiful but my view was not at all pretty. I had breakfast every morning in the hotel restaurant. It was a very good buffet. Be aware that it is pricey, though. And again, I thought the service was cold and unfriendly. Of all the hotels I stayed at in Korea, this is the only one that disappointed me as far as service and friendliness. So I would not stay here again. Next time, I would find a place closer to attractions, with prettier views, and hopefully friendlier staff.…
Have just stayed with Shilla Stay jeju in mid Dec. Excellent Customer Service provided by staffs there especially Mr Kim. Location is fabulous, near to eateries and outside the hotel is a bus station. Room is very clean however there is one setback, the room gets too warm and stuffy cos they don't have aircon and they turn on only the heater during winter, you can't adjust the temperature and the window cannot be open to let in the cold air.
Shilla Stay Jeju hotel is located within the Jeju City and just opposite the Nuwemaru shopping street, where there are lots of restaurants/convenient stores and retail shops. Room is pretty not big but acceptable, and it comes with the Aveda range of toiletries - body wash, shampoo & conditioner, body lotion.
The hotel, overall, needs an upgrade, the room is small and the shower is closed only a half way with a glass wall. But the hotel is located in a very good location with lots of eateries/convenient stores nearby, and the transportation to Dong Mun Market, which we liked a lot, is very easy. The hotel provides a pair of slippers and a nice plushy bath robe, which is also a plus. As for the best easy inexpensive transportation, take a local bus 365 from the airport (you can ask at the information booth inside of the airport before exiting the airport where you can catch the bus 365). Ask to drop you off at Eunnam Dong Station (there is a route map posted inside of the bus as well). That station is located right across from the Shilla Stay Jeju Hotel. This is also the same bus that goes to Dong Mum Market (you take the bus right outside of the hotel and get off at Joong Ang Lo). The bus fare is around 1,200 Won each way. Hope this review helps!…
Pleasantly surprised at the quality of my stay at Shila Stay Jeju. The hotel feels and looks brand new. No complaints with the rooms whatsoever and they even offer Aveda shampoo and shower gel! I have excellent sleep quality and am satisfied with the breakfast there as well. Location wise its a huge plus as its near 2 major shopping streets in Jeju.
The hotel has a great location in Jeju City - walking distance to shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is ok but a bit worn down (carpets are stained and look old, marks on the room wall). Walls and doors also offer basically no sound proofing so you can hear absolutely everything around you. Front desk was fine, but brusque when we checked in and out. All in all, it was fine but value for money not really there.
Following a 23-hour jaunt from Scotland via London, Seoul Incheon, Seoul Gimpo and Jeju I finally reached the Shilla Stay Hotel Jeju at midday, utterly exhausted and feeling filthy from the long haul trip. However, I was told that check-in starts at 3.00pm and that nobody can have a room prior to that time and so I was made to wait in the lobby not until a room became ready, but to 3.00pm because that is the official check-in time. I eventually persuaded the receptionist to agree to let me into a room at 2.00pm since several were unoccupied. She agreed, but when I went back just after 2.00pm that girl had gone home and the new one stuck by her guns. I was quite insistent and eventually got my way, but hospitality is about accommodating the needs to the guest where possible and being so inflexible is not hospitable however polite and sweetly smiling the girls denying access to rooms are. From midday until I finally got my room there was a stack of luggage in the lobby of the hotel and four guests, myself included, were sprawled across sofas fast asleep waiting for rooms. That does not create a particularly pleasant first impression and the bodies take up seating space that other hotel guests or visitors may wish to use. The lobby was hot and humid and there were no power points near to any seating to plug in laptops of mobiles in the most connected country in the world. I lay there sweating and uncomfortable. My room, No. 807, was spacious and clean, but the air-conditioner was pre-set to go no lower than 24ºC, so what is the point of that, really? Jeju is a humid place, so the room temperature was undesirable for sleeping in and the result was a restless, uncomfortable night. One small bottle of mineral water as well as tea and coffee bags were provided, but no milk. I perhaps would have been more satisfied with the hotel and its staff had I arrived after 3,00pm and had not been made to wait in the lobby until I was so tired that my hands were shaking before being given a room, especially since I found out that there were plenty of unoccupied rooms from the previous night.…
