The room and bathroom was nice and clean. Bedding provided for sleeping on the floor, which was surprisingly comfortable. The room has a heated floor. The shower was amazing! The courtyard is beautifully kept with outdoor games, seating and huge coicarp in the pond!

Reception were very helpful and always happy. Allowed us to bring food and drink into the courtyard, as the bars close in the afternoons.

I would recommend.

We chose to sleep on the floor in the traditional manner but in hindsight our western bodies maybe aren’t made for that sleeping option. Regrets ha.
The accommodation itself is beautiful and the staff were very friendly.
Great location in the heart of the restaurant and shopping area

I visited the hotel when I was in Gyeongju for inspection. I was so impressed and did not want to leave it. It is very beautiful Korean traditional house. It is quaint, boutique, local, historic and filled with the warmth of the host. Rooms are clean and spacious, the service personal and very caring. I totally fell in love with this because of its almostphere and coziness. A perfect place to relax and rest.

Thanks for the warm welcome and great hospitality of Mr. Lim - the owner.

This was a great find. It was new and yet had a very traditional feel about it. The room was small however had sufficient space for 3 of us. The toilet was designed in the routine method and had no separate shower facility however was sufficient for a good shower with good water pressure and temperature. There was a cafe attached to the back of the hotel and we got a 1000 Won discount voucher on checking in. The most interesting part was that there was a small room with hanbok for you to try for free and you can take pictures on the grounds. You can also ask the staff to take one picture for you and they will print it out for you. The staff was very pleasant and helpful too.

Our family of four stayed at the HwangNamGuan hanok guesthouse in April 2016. It was a wonderful stay. A delicious traditional Korean breakfast was included. Taxis were plentiful but with this location, we walked everywhere, to the Cheonmachong Tomb, the Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond (stunning) , the Cheomseongdae gardens, etc. It was spring so cherry blossoms lined both sides of the streets. The hanok itself was beautiful in its traditional style and amazing architecture. You can choose to sleep on the floor or request a room with beds. We were in a very spacious 3-room suite with sliding partitions, complete with a modern bathroom. Our kids enjoyed the free wifi. The hanok also has traditional korean clothing you can wear and pose for pictures at no charge. Staff was helpful and attentive while limited English was spoken. If we find ourselves back in Gyeongju, we will stay here again!

I arrived around 10pm. The night view was so beautiful and people from hotel were so kind and they wore modern style Korea traditional clothes 'Hanbok'. I stayed one night in the room which has Korean floor heating system. It was small but good. There are several historical place around hotel about 5-10 minutes by walk.

We had two nights there. That is clean and recommended for novice of guest house of Korean-style. There are a church nearby and also a lot of Korean restaurants and the famous coffee chain store and a convenience store. You can cache the local currency with a credit card from the ATM of the convenience store. Since a full-fledged restaurant in the guest house is not, please go out to eat dinner with friends. We enjoyed Jjigae soup and Don Don wine at the restaurant and then walked from around 8:00 pm to the old observatory to join the illuminated events. It became late after walking around the park but we did not get lost because the Cross of the Church lighted green until morning. Basic communication in English by the staffs is no problem. You can reserve Korean-style breakfast at the reception. Since the breakfast is not expensive as compared to the shop in front of the station, the reservation of breakfast is recommended in order to save time for sightseeing.

I have waited to review this hotel as I wanted to see if they would respond to my complaint- more later.
First the good 1) very central situation- walking distance to bus station and many tumuli 2) very clean 3) an experience 4)nice on site cafe 5) goo wifi
The bad- We arrived at 14:00 and were immediately shown a piece of paper with the check in time (15:00) There was no attempt to show us to the cafe. The receptionist spoke no English. I don't object to that. Why should she? She would not look after our bags which were too large for the paid lockers and we had to leave them unsupervised in the hotel courtyard and hope they would be safe. However there was written information when we finally checked in and I feel something written- like the cafe hours or the offer of a map would have helped us feel more at home. We never saw this receptionist after the first day and use might have been a stand in. This property is marketed through Expedia and booking.com so presumably they are happy to have guests who do not speak Korean.
We eventually were able to check in and I suspected that we had been given a standard room although we had paid for a superior one. I did not have the Korean to challenge this although had printed out my reservation in Korean. I was unable to check this out until I got home when I discover the photos of the superior room, and confirmed ours was a standard one.
The room was very small- certainly no room to unpack our bags and barely enough room for our bags when the beds were unfolded.
I do not blame the property for this but we had underestimated the discomfort of sleeping on the floor, and Western people who are not regular campers or very young might find the same.
The bathroom was not as pictured on the website. The shower was attached to the sink taps in a wet room arrangement. However when we got used to it it was a good enough shower.
Overall it was a reasonable experience although I personally would not repeat it. It was expensive for a traditional hotel and we could have had a full service hotel in this town for similar cost. I would have given 3/5 except that there has been no response to my complaint about the room. (booking.com not really interested and passed on my complaint)

This is a really beautiful place for a traditional hanok stay. Most of the buildings are brand new and the location is excellent, very close to the famous grave sites of Gyeongju.

The room itself was rather small with no frills. Same goes for the bathroom, were you have no separate shower, so everything is wet (even the toilet) after taking a shower. The boiler in the bathroom was rather noisy and woke us up several times during the night. You have to make your own bed in this hanok: duvets are provided. We were disappointed that we couldn't try the breakfast, since the (also brand new) breakfast building was still under construction.

Staff doesn't speak English.
