Detailed Reviews
The Amal “Beach Bar” is our favourite place to have lunch on Bentota Beach. The food, Sri Lankan or Western, is excellent. We love the devilled prawns. Cocktails are great. Very relaxed all afternoon serving. The staff are fantastic.

Full service around the clock, every 5 meters is a friendly staff to give you what you need! Very clean, perfect food and what ever you wish is here.
Only a few meters to the kilometers long beach, and also there is full service...
If you need something special the chef in person organizes for us, tuktuk, taxi, shoping, sightseeing, special fish for dinner, massage, we had it all!

Great hotel when visiting Bentota, perfect beach location. The staff are amazing especially Chanuka (Vidu) who was very attentive, easy to communicate with as his English was very good. One of the highlights was our last night in the hotel when Nadeera had an idea to create a sand table and seating area on the beach for me and my husband where we enjoyed a wonderful seafood platter. Certainly a night to remember. Thank you Nadeera.
Hope to return soon.

I just came back from Amal Beach Hotel. I wish i had no need to write a negative review. I liked my room, the beach, food. All these met my expectations. But the hotel has a very bad problem. On my second day i noticed that USD 90 and LKR 1000 (Local currency) had disappeared from the safe box in my room. Like i said, it was my second day and i do remember how much money i had and where i put it. I read reviews of other guests and it looks like i am not the only guest who faced this problem. The hotel manager blames everything on the guests. They do not want to deal with this issue. Not even a single word of apology. They say that money cannot disappeare from the safe box. Please keep this issue in mind if you choose this hotel and decide to use the safe box in your room.

Medium level, price appropriate place. The owner of the hotel personally welcomes us, he is a very nice person. The hotel staff were very polite and always ready to help. The beach of the hotel is very beautiful, where comfortable sunbeds are located, and in the evening it will turn into a fabulous cafe.
The hotel room is clean and tidy with all necessary items. But ... on the day of arrival, when our items were taken to the room, we went to the reception to pay. When we got back to the room we were met by one of the staff who told us there was a water problem in the bathroom and had come to fix it. We left the room so as not to be disturbed. Suddenly, I came in to pick up the charger and saw this person searching my bag. I was very scared and of course, I did not say anything because I certainly did not have money in my bag :) but later I have read other reviews that people have already lost money. Be careful and carry the money with you constantly.

We stopped off en route for lunch on our way to Galle . Friendly service , clean facilities and average choice of food. However £38 for two club sandwiches , a starter prawn cocktail and 3 juices was ridiculous and more than we spent in Colombo at the Ceylon curry club and that was with alcohol!!

+1
Stayed 2 weeks and we loved it !!!! Attention to design and detail outstanding , spotlessly clean , all staff friendly and well trained .
The garden restaurant where we had breakfast just beautiful. AND if like us you came to bentota because of the beach , it has the best beach front in the whole area. The bigger more expensive hotels just don't compare . Relaxing beach bar , great selection of food , comfortable beds , lots of umbrellas , beach immaculate.

I stayed here for a friends wedding & I was blown away by the hospitality and surroundings of the place. A special mention to “Ranga” who’s team worked tirelessly with big smiles at all times. I can honestly say that the hotel facilities were fantastic, the food was generous, fresh & very satisfying. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would book again without any hesitation
