Detailed Reviews
I had three days to enjoy inside Galle Fort & found the Prince of Galle to be the perfect venue for my stay. A small, historical building, the PoG is very well appointed for modern day requirements. There are six rooms, each with their own unique personality, quirky, yet comfortable, I stayed in one of the ground floor studio rooms.
Check in was simple & came with a tablet to enjoy Netflix & pose any questions or queries to the team. This is a great idea, as feedback is in real time. There is a small plunge pool to cool off later in the afternoon if required, but given proximity to the Indian Ocean.....
The owners have really made the most of the beautiful old burgher building, paying respect to the original structure, while adding a little of the contemporary. No more so, than in the breakfast provided each morning. This is a five course affair & pays homage to the region, on a plate. Everything was beautifully prepared & presented, but wasn't to my taste. The coffee & fruit salad with buffalo curd was delicious, but unfortunately, the remainder of the feast wasn't to my taste. The Prince of Galle would have received a 5 star review if an alternate breakfast option had been available.
Having the opportunity to explore Galle Fort is a treat, to do so from a comfortable base, is just what Prince of Galle provides, starting each day with the presentation of fresh tea/coffee each morning outside your room at 6.30am.

My wife and I stayed here for a single night on a recent trip to Galle. The hotel is really well appointed, with great character and charm, sitting in a great location in a side street within the walls of the old fort in Galle.
Stefan was great and very helpful as were the Sri Lankan team within the hotel. The room was smallish but clean, fully equipped and had anything you’d need for a short stay.
Breakfast was amazing! 5x different courses all served up with fantastic coffee.
Thoroughly recommend!

This hotel is a real find. So tastefully designed and a lovely atmosphere. They have a plunge pool in the reception area and an upstairs lounge with piano. We were welcomed with iced tea and cool facecloths and the best surprise was the 5 course breakfast which is outstanding in flavour and really well thought through and presented. Highly recommended when visiting Galle Fort.

Due to COVID-19 and being frontline medical staff I had to cancel my trip to Sri Lanka. Prince of Galle were very understanding and refunded my payment and wrote a nice message thanking me for my work.
I hope to make it to this beautiful hotel one day.

I was booked into what turned out to be a so-so hotel and stumbled on the PoG. I was so taken by it that I changed to the PoG and am glad I did! Chic cozy room nicely appointed, spacious dining area, charming upstairs sitting area, fantastic breakfast that included a creative Dhosa dish and perhaps the best French toast I’ve ever had, great general atmosphere. In the morning just outside my door a table was enticingly set with Vietnamese coffee. Well located in the Fort area. Lovely staff. Can’t wait to return.

We stayed here for 3 nights in the King Suite and I think it is now one of my favourite hotels in the world. It has so many lovely details and character. The 5 course breakfast is exceptional and the staff are so wonderful. Waking up in the morning to find the staff have quietly left tea for your outside your door at 6:30am is such a treat. Also I had the best nap of my life, snoozing in a very comfortable bed and was woken gently to hear the pianist playing beautifully downstairs. Heaven.

Stayed here for the first night of our tour of Sri Lanka. Really easy and laid back vibe, friendly and helpful staff. Lovely slightly quirky rooms as you'd expect from a boutique hotel, clean and well equipped. Located very close to the sea and within easy walking distance to numerous shops, bars and restaurants. The breakfast was astounding and staff were more than happy to accommodate our dietary needs. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

We stop by for a drink and shisha we loooooved this hotel. Amazing service and quality of drink (ice tea) is exceptional. Especially when we've been trying drinks around Galle fort and they were mostly very average for the price they charge. Shisha quality also really good. Definitely highly recommend it and next time we will book a room here

Love, love, love this charming boutique colonial hotel inside the fort. It has been sympathetically restored and is like a living museum with exceptional staff. The breakfasts are amazing and were different each day of our stay. So much and so very tasty; one of the best breakfasts during our stay on this beautiful island. Dilan, as well as being an amazing chef, also works as a barber and trimmed my husband’s beard for free!! Saranga also makes the best iced tea I’ve ever tasted. The rooms are delightfully quirky with everything you need for a comfortable stay and the second floor is a lovely place to relax with an old colonial balcony overlooking the street below. The hotel is within easy walking of everything in the fort and only a few minutes from the best place to view the beautiful sunsets. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying within Galle thought. It’s a hidden gem!

Most amazing place I have visited from a to z. Breakfast is something incredible - a mini tasting menu that chef is preparing literally next to you! Place is furnished with some incredible pieces and has a great vibe! Rooms are out of this world (especially the bathrooms 😍😍😍).
Recommend it to everyone and will definitely go again if ever visit Galle in the future. Never came across of this level of Lux in such an affordable price (way more expensive than average places elsewhere in Sri Lanka, buy not expensive for Galle I believe). Place you simply must visit!
