We spent 3 nights at the Tamarind Hill and could not have had a better experience of care. Our room No7 was very spacious with a beautiful 4 poster bed , traditional furniture, television with many channels and at least 5 movies channels.
Bathroom facilities were as expected in this class of hotel and the fruit and treats ( created in the hotels kitchen) were delicious.
Our experience was made special by Achintha, Sangeeth and Jeewan, ( apologise for any spelling errors) but I hope the management know who I mean and will pass on my praise of these three young men, all proud to be part of the Tamarind Hill team.
The location was perfect . A short stroll took us to a beautiful beach and a exciting tuk tuk journey took us to Galle Fort.

This hotel just might be the most prettiest and most relaxing place I’ve stayed at. But I guess I can say that because I’m partial to the colonial architecture. From the moment we entered, the service was excellent. They adhered to the COVID-19 safety regulations. Our room was sanitized a few hours before we checked in and sealed till our arrival.
Everyone at Tamarind Hill was so courteous and wonderful. We went there for a weekend trip to celebrate my best friend’s birthday and they arranged a delicious complimentary birthday cake to surprise her at dinner. They were so discreet about it that she was definitely surprised!
I must especially mention Sangeeth. He went above and beyond to make our stay special...even telling us little facts about the hotel, making sure our food was always made to our specifications and telling us when & where to find the peacocks.
That’s another thing...while we were there, we kept hearing peacocks and that morning after breakfast, one was right there inside the hotel courtyard just hanging out. Apparently it’s a common thing every morning!
The food was delicious and the chef checked in with us on the very first night itself to get our feedback but all we could do was gush about how good it was. It was ala carte over buffet and I feel it was preferable. The menu was simple but we had enough to choose from (in fact it was hard to choose because everything looked yummy) and every bite we had was flavorful. Breakfast being my favorite meal wherever I go, I must especially recommend their ham & cheese omelet. I’m not usually a fan of rice & curry but I absolutely love the way they made it at Tamarind Hill. They included something delicious called a kara mallum which is made of leaves from a tree grown in their hotel itself. Apparently it has Buddhist historical significance that I wasn’t fully aware of.
The room was spacious and comfortable but the lighting could use some improvement I feel. The bathroom was quite large and it had a fan of its own so it would always be dry which we all definitely appreciated.
Though the hotel is not right on the beach, it’s just a walk away or you could drive to Unawatuna in less that 30 mins.
All in all, we were sad to leave and I could say without a doubt that I look forward to going back there! Thank you so much for having us and making our stay wonderful!!!

Tamarind Hill is a superb place. A most beautiful colonial building with tons of charm. Rooms are spacious, cool and very comfortable. Bathrooms are huge. The gardens and common spaces are full of magical corners where one can relax, read a book, have a drink, or just escape the modern world. Swimming pool is beautiful, though it can get very noisy with children and insensitive guests. I would suggest that the hotel staff would politely ask noisy guests to respect the peace and quiet of others. The whole building is full of beautiful pieces of furniture and decoration, both antique and contemporary. The renovation has been exceptional, fully respecting the building's unique character, yet keeping it airy and uncluttered. The staff are polite and attentive, especially the lady manager who was most helpful and gracious. The suits are truly impressive, vast and original, a lesson in history. Food was ok though needs improvement. I have to admit that one can have much better food in Galle. Overall, a beautiful and most comfortable place with unbeatable nostalgic atmosphere.

We had a large family stay at the hotel last weekend (8th).
First impressions: the staff was very friendly. Temp check to members wearing masks at public areas. we were very happy to see that. 9 very demanding customers, they tried their level best to accommodate all our requests in a timely manner
Location: This is a hotel hidden from the main road. The roadside mark is a bit old so the turn right after Jetwing Lighthouse is the milestone if you are travelling. However, the road connecting the hotel needs a major repair as a small car will find it challenging to go without hitting the undercarriage
Food: This was the highlight. Food was really good and tasty they were operating on a limited Set Menu and it was done to perfection. They were very kind enough to accommodate the meal requests of my 3 year old. Big Thanks to the team responsible in the Kitchen
In general, the hotel needs quite a bit of renovation. The garden chairs have rust in them, the pond in the middle of the yard needs a big clean up (very different from the stock photo) and some of the rooms had really bad TV's (since we booked 4 rooms I got a good view of all).
One huge disadvantage is that the swimming pool does not have a shallow area for the kids to use/ play. From the start, it is neck deep for adults
Overall the Food was the main highlight of the stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone who wants a quiet stay for an affordable price

A magnificent and picturesque hotel located near the Galle city at a semi-remote area. No sounds of traffic or busy crowda. Witnrss and enjoy the colonial Sri Lankan architecture and you will love this place for how calm and soothing it is. If you are a book lover or a writer, this is one of the ideal places in Sri Lanka to have a cup of coffee, let your kids play in the garden and enjoy the evening with a hood book. Swimming pool is located in a separate area so that you may enjoy a swim without disturbing those who dine.
Chef Lakmal is a brilliant cook, and in out visit he made sure we get a delicious complimentary omlet and a chop suey, with the seafood lunch we had. Staff was really friendly and supportive. Everything in the hotel was a satiating experience: even the peacocks who made visits and gazed at us from the roofs. If you come to Galle, try this place out. You will love it.

Welcome The Tamarind staff welcomed us nicely with "Ayubowan" ( Wishing with Long Life ) , and offered fresh Tamarind juice, it was tasty, enjoyed
Suite It was like 2000 sq fts scape of a Suite call Admiral Suite. Based with Wooden floor and wooden accessories. This Luxuries suite contains Living Room, Dining Room , Meeting Room, Large scale Veranda, Large Bathroom and Amazing Bedroom.
Swimming Pool Amazing Swimming pool with peaceful environment
Food All food were provided based on selection by the guests. Set menu with different type of food style. Starters, Soup , Main , Desserts and Beverages like all inclusive.
Manager Sanjaya was personally attended for the dining areas and had small chat with all of us to get any inquiry. You can choose restaurant or out side as you prefer.
I have been visited few more locations of Asia Leisure group , but Tamarind hill was the best out of best.

Beautiful hotel surrounded with greenery, very peaceful and calm. The pool side is cosy !!! The rooms are big and very beautiful. From the first day to the checkout we have been perfectly treated by the team. The staff is lovely, warm available and smiling. We have the chance to have a little visit of the suit rooms and the area around the hotel with an explanation of the history of the place by Mr. Nissanka from the house keeping team. The Food and beverage was great, Sangeeth Anjana and Senura were always checking if we needed anything.... so kind! Chef Lakmal’s was also really friendly and available to explained each dishes, it’s origins and the ingredients ,the dinner menu was delicious and the breakfast was awesome, we had Sri Lankan and english breakfast, fresh juices....
Overall it was a wonderful stay!

Visit Galle known for it's colonial architecture requires a colonial hotel overnight. We spend 3 days, booked 2 rooms in this boutique hotel. To truley expiernce the place try to book the days where the admiral suite is available. The room is great. Our kids stayed at the garden ground floor and also had a nice stay. We like peace and quiet and this hotel was perfect to adjust to the climate and new time zone. Great food and service, we were on full board and enjoyed the dishes.
If there is one thing to do for the team, refresh the swimming pool equipment, leds and focus a bit more on providing clean towels etc.

Quarantine at Tamamrind Hill. I arrived at Tamarind Hill on September 8th 2021, for 1 night with my 3 small daughters, after flying in to Sri Lanka from Los Angeles. The current COVID19 rules state that I need to stay at a Level 1 hotel and get a PCR test before I can enter Sri Lanka. Tamarind Hill is a beautiful 'walauwa' that has been renovated and now serves as a hotel. Being a Sri Lankan, arriving here felt like I was coming 'home'. All the old world charm and character of my 'achchis house' met with modern amenities of a luxury hotel. We were not allowed to leave our room until we got the results of the pcr test. But our room was clean and comfortable and really quite 'spa' like, that we didn't feel 'trapped' inside or claustrophobic in anyway. The room itself is enormous, as is the bathroom. There was also a private patio. The pictures I have don't do justice to this beautiful place. However, one can go to the best most modern places in the world, and yet, it's the people you meet that will make your experience good or bad. Upon arrival, Senarath greeted us, professional and kind. Answering all my questions and offering any help whenever her could. Additionally, during my stay I met Sanjaya and Sangeeth who also went out of their way, to make my stay the best it could be. The food created by Chef Lakmal was amazing. Western food and Sri Lankan cuisine, whatever we wanted, made to order, specially for us. My picky eater kids couldn't get enough of his scrambled eggs, pastas and fresh made juice. I had my first kotthu roti in over 8 years. And it was excellent. We also met the Head of Housekeeping after we got our negative pcr tests, and he gave a small tour of this remarkable place. While I'm sure they are all trained in hospitality, these people epitomize what I love about Sri Lanka: The kindness and friendliness of the Sri Lankan people. Always ready to help with a smile. The person who hired all these people really knew what he was doing, because he hired the best of the best, of what Sri Lanka has to offer. By far, one of the BEST experiences at a hotel I've ever had. And it was all due to the people there. Thank you all: Senarath, Sangeeth, Sanjaya and Lakmal. And the head Housekeeper (Im so sorry, I forgot to ask your name). While the beauty and charm of Tamarind Hill is amazingly beautiful, you guys made my stay GREAT. Thank you!

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at the Tamarind Hill on our holiday and we loved every part of it.
The hotel and grounds and one of a kind, well maintained and decorated impeccably.
We were upgraded when we arrived which was exciting and stayed in the captain suite which was above our expectations. A ton of space, private outdoor space and unique charm.
The staff and food was top notch throughout our stay. We were here for Christmas and had an incredible 5 course Christmas Eve dinner in the garden that the hotel coordinated for all the guests and then a special private dinner by the pool for Christmas night. This was our favorite food in all of Sri Lanka.
All the workers made us feel at home and provided 5 star hospitality, including Mr. Senarath, Oninda, Sanneeth, Sanjaya and everyone else!
We highly recommend staying at the Tamarind
