Don't go to this Motel. We had a misundersanding about the payment and the people there were not willing to cooperate to solve the problem! We assume they are cheating. Moreover the rooms we had were dark, stuffy and very small. The towels thin and old, same for the matress.

We arrived at this place with a booking for a deluxe room paid in full, however the owner had no record of this and after some time put us into a basic room (dark and dingy). Upon our request we asked to be moved to a deluxe room which we had pre-paid for, we got moved to another basic room.... More

This hotel has lots of charm. The entrance is very welcoming with a lovely indoor garden and spacious interior. The rooms are very basic as is the breakfast but ok for the price. The location is great to have a stroll around Fort Galle and very close to the cricket stadium. The people however are not very friendly and helpful,... More

Stayed here for 2 nights and this place offers reasonable comfort and value. Shares many of the shortcomings of hotels in SL generally: poor plumbing, frequent power outages etc. We had family room at top of building, A/c was good, wifi reasonable and nice balcony. They offer a laundry service but very expensive, we went elsewhere. Good location right in... More

We stayed 2 nights, the room had a good size, A/C and hot water shower were good. We could have done with a 2nd sheet and a working wifi connection in the room. Price was competitive for off-season, we negotiated Sri Lankan breakfast included in the rate. The owners are not very chatty, so if you prefer home stay then... More

A Sri Lakan family stays here and they let out a few rooms on the second floor. We negotiated with them and got a room for 3000 sri lankan rupees and breakfast for an extra 500. Breakfast was basic (tea/ coffee, fruit, one egg and toast). Room was clean. A/C wasn't working well so it took a while to cool... More

We stayed here for four nights. More expensive than accommodation outside of the fort, but worth it to be inside the beautiful bubble. Great location, in the centre of the fort. Lovely breakfast and very helpful family running the place. We had a nice double bedroom upstairs and it was really comfortable. There were the occasional troop of ants marching... More

We ended up staying here for one night as the accommodation we wanted didn't have space. We saw a few of the rooms and went with one which was the lowest in price (we paid 4,900). No breakfast included for us. Room was fine, mosquito net, air con etc. bathroom had electrical wire dangling alarmingly low. Didn't die but wasn't... More

Go for the top floor room. Frangipani Motel is divided in two, the breakfast room and expensive rooms in one building, we stayed in the building on the opposite side of the street twith simpler and cheaper rooms. The one on the top floor is big, has AC, fan and a big, private balcony with a view over the rooftops.

I was actually looking forward to staying here as I read some reviews in the Lonely Planet and it gate it a "Must Stay" rating, and thought I was in luck when they actually had a room available. But I would now give it a MUST NOT STAY rating. While it was clean.. and I had a room with a... More
