My wife and I have just returned from a 3 week holiday in Sri Lanka. The first part consisted of a managed tour of the island organised by our UK travel agent. We were given the option to extend our stay at a beach resort and we chose the Jetwing Lighthouse just 3 kms outside of Galle town.We were so glad we made that decision!
The hotel is in a stunning location and all rooms have balconies with magnificent sea views. All the staff are very friendly and it is obvious from their training that every member wants you to fully enjoy your stay.
We decided to book an All Inclusive package thinking that drinks might be expensive in the bars and restaurant. But they weren't and our advice would be to book just on a bed and breakfast basis.
The meals were either on a buffet style or a set meal. For both the quality of the food is excellent and was varied everyday, So no chance of getting bored with the food options.
We would recommend anyone to take a Tuk- Tuk into Galle to see the historic Fort area. As keen birdwatchers we went on a river trip organised by the hotel's own resident naturalist. Both trips were extremely enjoyable..
Our regret is that we only stayed 6 nights but next year we will return for a longer stay.

We stayed at this lovely property towards the end of our Sri Lankan tour. Having loved other Jetwing properties in this country, we loved this one too!
As is usual at Jetwing, the staff were professional, accommodating and warm. The food was excellent - we ate outside overlooking the ocean on both nights. Our room was clean and spacious with very good airconditioning, super fast wifi and it was stocked with the standard Jetwing reuseable items to reduce plastic pollution (glass water bottles, glass bathroom items) - we really applaud Jetwing for their commitment to a greener environment.
The hotel is located on the ocean not far from the old town of Galle (a fort city) and despite the heat, we chose to walk to the fort which was such an interesting journey. We talked to lots of friendly locals along the way and really got a feel for the place.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Galle and would highly recommend this lovely hotel.

This iconic hotel, another creation of the legendary architect Geoffrey Bawa, is located in close proximity to the town of Galle in the South of Sri Lanka and by the side of the main road to Colombo. It borders the sea, unfortunately most of its beach frontage is rocky (yet adding colour to the hotel) with a little stretch of sandy area. With foreign tourists yet unseen due to the Corona pandemic, the hotel has opened its doors to the local clientele at concessionary rates, while strictly observing medical guidelines.
The hotel has 78 spacious rooms, all facing the sea, and 7 suites. Each room has a balcony (and covered patio for ground floor rooms). Two 'infinity' swimming pools and a very large lawn filled the grounds. The property is under Priyanthika, a hands-on manageress, who greeted us with a hand-written welcome note - quite a touching and unusual gesture. I must commend Alwis, the steward at the restaurant, who took pains to see that my wife got the special meals that she had to take due to illness.

From check In to Check out the staff at Jetwing Lighthouse Hotel were friendly and helpful with a Srilankan Smile!. Luxury rooms facing the Indian Ocean has breath taking views and are well maintained and clean with options of bath tub and shower and a good choice of brands in the mini bar. The staff at the restaurant were courteous and the buffet/set menu had the best delicacies of western and eastern food options. The hotel has 02 very good swimming pool and a baby pool well maintained with assistant available at all time. All safety measures were taken as precaution as per Govt COVID advice to accommodate guests. A memorable stay @ Jetwing Lighthouse :-)

Firstly I booked at one of there other hotel named, Jetwing Kurulubadda. But I had to stay at Jetwing light house due to an over booking issue with them.
When it come to the location, this is located in a very convineient location which is about 5 min drive to the Galle city centre. There are plenty of public mode of transport towards the city centre as well.
Secondly the rooms, we were given two rooms in the spa wing and you ll be having a panaromic sea view from these. There were two pools and the one infront of the spa wing was wonderful.
Most of the staff were really friendly, restaurant staff was very humble apart from one day, during our 2 day stay we got to enjoy 6 meals at their main restaurant, every meal was amazing apart from one breakfast, we had to wait more than 30 minutes to get tea and coffee. I dont complain about it as there were really low staff on the floor and the restaurant got busy at that time.
Overall, the stay at jetwing light house was amazing and I highly reccomend them.

I know I am bit late to write a review on this. My family visited Jetwing Lighthouse in 2019 December school holiday vacation. We stayed two nights in the hotel and this was the first time we visited the place.
We stayed in a room pretty close to the main restaurant and it was quite easy for us to go up and down since we accompanied our parents as well. When we requested for a closer room when we checked in the staff was very helpful and found two rooms close to each other.
The room was quite spacious and clean. I have nothing to complain about. The food was very nice as well. There were two swimming pools in the hotel depending on your room location you can choose either one. Both pools are quite big and nice. The beach is bit rough but has a great beach front as well. There are rocks in front of the hotel beach and it was great place for us to unwind in the evenings. There are a few natural pools as well in between those solid rocks. My kid had a great time playing in those.
The surroundings are quite peaceful, those the hotel is close to the main Cololmbo - Galle road. If you are person who wish to have a peaceful holiday, I can highly recommend this place.
The staff was super helpful and nice that is always witnessed when we visited Jetwing hotels. There is not exception here as well.
All and all we had a great time and hoping to visit there once again.

Booked a much needed 2 night stay at Lighthouse, Main Wing room. The views were stunning, the room was nice and well kept, and the amenities were up to our expectations. With the exception of the horrendous condominium construction a few lands from the property which slightly spoils the natural ambience of the hotel's location/ views, we enjoyed our time in the pool and the room.
However, the staff's lack of attentiveness was a bit disappointing. We had 4 meals at the hotel, and each time it was proven difficult to get the attention of staff to place orders for our meals and they also kept us waiting for the longest time for simple requests like a glass of water - as long as 30 mins in one occasion, and every single time we followed up with a new staff members, they disappeared into the abyss with no water served. Strange. My partner and I understood that the hotel may have had to let go of staff due to COVID, however the hotel should only occupy and accomodate numbers of guests proportionate to the number of staff members available. And this should certainly not be at the expense of the guests as we spend a considerable amount of money to get the same service we would have received had the hotel been under ordinary circumstances. The lack of staff was also evident when calling the front desk for housekeeping or general requests, and more often than not, there was nobody to answer our calls.
Would regardless recommend the hotel for its beautiful views and a wonderful setting for a romantic stay, but doubtful if it lived up to the hype - sadly. Visit for stunning architecture and a homely feeling, and keep other expectations at a minimum.

We spent 5 nights here at the end of our 3 week holiday around Sri Lanka. Although we enjoyed it, it wasn't as we'd hoped. This might have been due to there being so few guests, as we felt it lacked atmosphere. Other than in the main restaurant, we only saw a couple of people in any of the others eating areas during the day and no-one at all in the evenings. There was a good selection of food at breakfast, although of all the hotels we stayed in, this was the only one where the fried and poached eggs were pre-cooked. It also felt as though there were more staff than guests in the restaurant. We ate two evening meals there, and the service felt really disjointed. On the second occasion, one of the waiters was quite hostile when we didn’t want to sit at a particular table, even though it was almost empty in there. I must also mention that the restaurant had just one music tape during our entire time there and it was the same one in the evening. If I never hear ‘Tie a Yellow Ribbon’ again, I won’t be disappointed! On the plus side, our room, on the top floor of the spa wing, was lovely. It was big, very clean, and had superb sea views. The fresh fruit basket was a nice surprise too. On the downside, although there are two doors between the corridor and the bedroom, we were surprised to still hear the traffic from the road. A high-rise apartment block is being built near to the spa wing, which will overlook that swimming pool once finished. The noise of the building works can at times disturb the peace of lazing by the pool while looking out to sea. The beach is beautiful, and right in front of the hotel are some amazing rock pools. Although there is often a red flag up, we spent ages enjoying the rock pools and paddling at the water's edge. It’s quite a long walk into Galle, but we did it many times. However, tuk tuks are really cheap and a great way to get about!

We stayed here for 2 nights after lockdown. All the posh hotel chains in Sri Lanka have now gone into "Attract-locals-to-SURVIVE" mode. These big chains like the Cinnamon/Jetwing/Heritance/AitkenSpence have always targeted the white man. From their advertising to their videos to their facebook posts, they only use foreigners. They are more keen on the $,£,€. Suddenly with covid19 they are giving "50% off deals exclusively to locals" to stay afloat. How the tides have changed!!
If you're coming here for the beach, then don't. The beach is full of rocks. There is no place for bathing.
If you're coming here for the turquoise water, then don't. The water is muggy and grey. Go to Trincomalee.
If you're coming here for great service, spacious rooms and amazingly mouth watering food, then yes this is the place. The staff are excellent and always with smiling faces and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.
Food is the best thing here. Amazing variety and soooo tasty the food is. Yummy Yummy!! We were full to the brim. Breakfast and Dinner on both days were excellent.
Rooms are also extremely huge and spacious (207 & 208). There is a walk in shower as well as a bath. Toiletries are replenished as an when needed.
All in all great stay. I can only wish that these hotel chains are considerate towards locals when everything is back to normal after Covid19.
Don't shun the locals the moment you have enough tourists coming in! Don't use us only when you need to. Locals also love to come to your hotels, please keep it affordable!

I think the ethical thing would be to inform the resort at least a day prior for if not they prepare for lunch for you and whoever is travelling with you.

I haven’t being to jetwing kaduruketha. But the two have different views.so if prefer beach lighthouse is good. If u want to see more greenery choice should be the other one. In terms of food, light house menu is full of seafood. I won’t recommend food of nihal’s restaurant their at all. And I got so tired after a single meal of seafood from nihal’s that we even changed plans to eat at the ala card cause they also had mostly seafood. Buffet is extremly appetizing though.
There are more places to choose from in the Galle area.
