Nestled atop the highest point of the ancient port city of Galle sits the Lady Hill Hotel, where you will be overwhelmed by the breathtaking and panoramic “Bird’s Eye View” of the lush green countryside stretching from the tea covered slopes of the Southern foothills all the way down to merge with the brilliant blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Located in close proximity to the city’s pulsating heart and to some of the best beaches in the Island, yet secluded enough to offer a measure of tranquility and serenity, that the discerning traveler eagerly looks forward to after a weary bout of sightseeing and exploration. Thereby, adhering to the watchwords “Lose yourself in the Experience and not in the Crowd”.Entering the portals of the Lady Hill, one is treated to an architectural edifice, echoing the legacy of the ancient Colonial Dutch period, from the imposing entrance archway, down to the natural cobblestone floor. However, as you progress through the lobby, where you will be greeted with the traditional Sri Lankan welcome of “AYUBOWAN”, which translates as “May You Have Long Life”, you notice a subtle but appreciative change in the conceptual idea. You will be ushered to your room via a rustic granite stone stairway, flanked by a strip of fresh water fish ponds and upon entering your room, will be amazed to find that you have been transported from the past into the future within the space of a few short ticks of the clock. The rooms are furnished with ultra modern futuristic style décor and posses state of the art facilities and amenities which are all that you, as an honored guest, could possibly hope for.

We stayed there for 2 days and it was extremely lovely. This charming hotel is perched on top of a hill and its rooftop restaurant boasts one of the best bird's eye views of Galle. On one end you'll see the Fort, Harbour, and sea, and on the other end, you can see the hills of Galle. The pool, however, is built towards the entrance so you can only see the hills and their bird sanctuary. And yes, they have a bird sanctuary. You can't go in, but there is a garden where you can sit and watch the little birdies. They also have tortoises in the pond leading up to the outdoor front desk.
At the restaurant, they have a simple menu ranging from soups to mains to dessert. They also offer beer and wine, apart from it you can bring your own spirits. During our stay, they had a Sizzling Jumbo Prawn Platter with buttered rice and saladand Sizzling Chicken Platter. My favorite food experience was breakfast. You're given a selection of either Sri Lankan or English breakfast, and we chose English. They start you off with a freshly made passionfruit juice, coffee/tea, and then your choice of eggs coupled with sausages, bacon, and toast. For me, the best part of having my meals there was good food with a brilliant view.
The rooms at Lady Hill are on the smaller end albeit very cozy and tastefully decorated. The lighting adds the perfect ambiance to the view you are greeted to from the balcony. The double room has amenities such as free wifi, a mini-bar, hot water, and a TV.
The staff were extremely friendly and attentive to our needs. They are also very fluent in English. For a cozy stay in Galle, I'd definitely pick Lady Hill.

We stayed at Lady hill in Galle, the day we landed in SriLanka. We had driven from the airport in Colombo. The air conditioner in the room was not working properly. Luckily there was a restaurant on the rooftop and we could have dinner there. Dinner was ok.
We were on the 3rd floor just below the restaurant. Early morning around 5:30- 6:00 am they started getting the place ready for breakfast. What a racket!
Glad we spent only one night here
On a positive note, the staff were good and tried to help

We visited Sri Lanka in mid February and stayed in Lady Hill for 3 nights .Best thing about the property is the view.. Really enjoyed breakfasts here.. Rooms are small but the view from balcony is amazing. It is located near the Galle fort . WiFi services can be better because our WiFi got disconnected every few hours.

From the time we arrived to the time we left the staff at the hotel did all they could to make our stay pleasant. From a warm welcome to assisting with luggage, food and beverage service in the breakfast/dining room and bringing drinks to the pool, the staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating. The hotel location is a quiet pleasant 10min walk up the hill from the shops and market. The pool was clean and refreshing. Our room had nice views and was clean and comfortable.

I recently undertook a two week tour of Sri Lanka in a group of six and we stayed in 8 different hotels during our trip. This hotel was my favourite and I can unreservedly recommend it. It is situated on a hill about 20 mins walk from the scenic Dutch Fort district and has superb views across the city. The staff went out of their way to welcome us on arrival and throughout our stay the service we received….reception, housekeeping, restaurant and management…was warm, friendly and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. The room I stayed in was spacious, clean and although the hotel itself is colonial, (once a vicarage for the head of the CofE in Galle) the rooms are bright, modern and comfortable. There were lots of English channels available on TV should you wish to relax and watch something other than BBC news which is what was available in most other places. The restaurant cooks food to order so we had a plentiful supply of freshly cooked food of a high standard and we were entertained by a lovely young singer/guitarist while dining in the evening. As it was my birthday whilst there the group leader arranged for a delicious birthday cake presented to me after breakfast. A group of about six staff came to see us off on our departure which was a nice, personal touch which we appreciated.
Do not be put off that it is up a hill. The walk down is easy but some might find it a bit of a pull back up when it’s hot. Tuk tuks are absolutely everywhere and from the fort district the fare for two people was only 200 rupees (50p!) if you didn’t want to walk the return uphill journey. Just agree the price first and insist if it seems any higher. And once back to the hotel, take a dip in the pool - clean and like a warm bath - a real delight as the sun sets.

The panoramic views of all of Galle from this towering hilltop restaurant are the best in town. We've been lunching here, as a treat, for years but not since lockdown. It's open again now (Sept), smartened up a bit, sensible hygiene precautions, same staff, great new menu (most things sizzling on a hot dish brought to the table) and the same, amazing view over the town, harbour and ocean. Booze available, friendly service as usual and good prices. We really enjoyed the experience - it felt like old times! Thanks to all.

I recently had the opportunity to dine at a restaurant with a broad menu, boasting a variety of options suitable for various palates. The overall experience was 'ok.' Although the quality of the food did not quite match the high prices, every interaction with the staff was a delight due to their friendliness and professionalism. Adding to the restaurant's charm was its lovely view, which made for a pleasant visual experience. It's also worth mentioning that the atmosphere was quiet, as we were the only guests there apart from a woman who was enjoying her beer while engaged in a phone conversation.

It is a very beautifull hotel with a great view on the old Dutch fort. The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly and helpfull. The hotel is on a good location on walking distance from the fort, just 10-15 minutes. Best hotel we had in Sri Lanka this holiday.

It does not have lifts. However, most hotels in Galle town don't have lifts as they are designed with a colonial look. The stairs are wide and easy to climb. But still, may be difficult with a bad knee.
