Well situated for exploring Galle, this attractive boutique hotel is part of the Teardrop group. The décor is smart and fashionable, the rooms and bathrooms are well equipped with some lovely touches. Bathrobes, generous toiletries in refillable pump containers, a complimentary soft drinks minibar. A cafetière with ground Sri Lankan coffee, a carton of milk, and teabags are alongside the kettle. At tea-time, tea and biscuits are left by reception for residents to help themselves to, and there's a 'happy hour' between 5 and 6 when you can get a complimentary G&T, beer or arrack from the bar.
Breakfast is first class - fruit platters, juices, a bread / pastry basket and a good choice of traditional cooked breakfasts. The hoppers are excellent!
There's also a lovely spa tucked at the back of the hotel with a good range of treatments at reasonable prices, where I had an excellent massage.
The lighting in the bedroom could be better, and the four poster bed was rather creaky, but wifi was good and air-con excellent.

I loved this hotel so much and if I ever return to Galle, I will stay here as a guest. I reaped the benefits of dining in their restaurant (Church Street Social) and getting a facial at the spa.

I had a man do the facial and it was one of the best and most thorough facials of my life. He was attentive and very kind on top of being extremely skilled with skincare. It's a rather simple facial; it includes a cleanse, exfoliate, steam/extractions, mask and massage but wow, all of the products felt amazing on my skin and worked wonders. My face was breaking out from all the heat, humidity and pollution and after this facial my skin looked AND felt amazing.

He was extremely thorough with extractions, I often feel this area gets rushed but no way with him. I love how he steamed my face with the exfoliate on, cleansed my skin, steamed it more, did extractions, steamed again and then did further extractions. He covered every pore on my face, this man is a wizard.

The spa is gorgeous and I loved all of the little touches. I arrived early to take a shower which by the way is stunning and relaxing. Pre facial I was given a delicious fresh juice and post facial water and yummy cookies. I even opted to get a tea in the cafe after and it was complimentary.

Amazing service all around!

The hotel is situated within the heart of
Galle Fort, which has a fascinating history, having successively been colonised by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. This hotel is a restored Dutch building, with bedrooms set around a courtyard affording spacious accommodation. Very comfortable, with attentive staff and good breakfast (we didn't have any other meals). We enjoyed complimentary drinks between 5 and 6pm. One small criticism - the bedroom lighting was a little too subdued, making it difficult to read at night.

We stayed here for two nights and wished we had arranged to stay longer. It’s a beautifully designed and decorated hotel with a good choice in background music which combined creates a great atmosphere in very stylish surroundings. We were very lucky to be given one of the suites which was just gorgeous and very luxurious.

Some lovely touches in the service here which differentiated it from everywhere else we stayed - the complimentary tea and cake in the afternoon and the social hour in the bar between 5-6pm when we were able to enjoy complimentary G&Ts.

The restaurant is well used by residents and passers by which again added to the atmosphere.

The staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful.

Would not hesitate to recommend and would hope to return in the future.

We stayed in the Bazaar two nights and were thoroughly impressed with it. The colonial building is beautifully and smartly renovated, the beds are comfortable and the food really nice. The ambiance is warm. The hotel management has thought of many smart and exciting details like bath salts and candles at the bath tub, international ppwer outlets, espressp machine in the room and its own little butler button "press here for champagne". Breakfast is massive - you get fruit, coffee and fresh juice, a huge bread platter that includes sweet and savory and you still get to chose a main breakfast. I recommend the egg hoppa!
We will try thr other tear drop hotels soon

Great hotel. Staff are fantastic, very attentive, constantly replenishing water in room.

Food is more expensive than most local places but very good so worth the price.

Would 100% recommend this hotel for stays in Galle. Could not fault it!

This is a charming boutique hotel in the UNESCO heritage city of Galle, Sri Lanka. The staff is terrific. They are very eager to make you feel at home. Rooms are large and tastefully decorated and the wet room bathroom has a great shower. Complimentary tea at 3:30 is included and the morning breakfast was great. The coffee was delicious! Best coffee I had in Sri Lanka!
There is a bell in your room you can “push for champagne”. The young bellman gave us these instructions. “You can push this bell for champagne and my colleague will bring you a glass. But unfortunately not today because it is Full Moon day”
Full moon day is a Buddhist holiday known as Poya - and no alcohol is sold that day. I guess we could have tried it in the morning!

We stayed for four nights at this totally charming, pretty hotel and it was just perfect. We had a very personal service in all areas, the staff are without exception so helpful and friendly, efficient and smart. The room was large, chilly air-conditioning which was such a relief, spotlessly clean and well equipped, huge firm bed and as much bottled water as you need. There was no balcony in our room and no pool but there are lots of pretty and peaceful areas for sitting outside in the leafy courtyard. The food was of really good quality, not an extensive menu but enough choice of Sri Lankan and Western dishes to keep us happy. Amazingly the hotel has free afternoon tea and cake plus a very Happy Hour, free drinks! Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff, it was a favourite hotel in Sri Lanka.

I came there in a group of 6 for lunch on the 13th of April and ordered the Seafood Linguine priced at Rs.2,350 and the description said it has prawns, squid and fish. When the dish came it was very disappointing to find that there was a not single piece of prawn in the dish and about 2 very small pieces of squid and mostly fish.. When I complained about this to our waiter he checked with the chef and came and said the chef said he did put. Since another person had ordered it from our group his explanation was all the prawns and gone to that dish. Which I don’t think is a sensible explanation specially paying a high price for it just because it was seafood and to find only mostly fish..

Dear Guest, Thank you for your detailed feedback. We are, naturally, saddened with most of what you say and would like to apologise for the poor dining experience at Church Street Social. It is not acceptable that something the restaurant has been praised for many times in the past was not prepared perfectly for you. As a way of improvement, we have discussed your comments with the head chef and culinary team, and will ensure the dish is more consistent in the future. Furthermore, I am sorry for the way in which your complaint was handled by the waitstaff. The management has had an in-depth discussion with the team so that the same will not happen in the future. Once again I thank you for bringing this to our attention. Should you have any further feedback regarding the above, please contact me on feedback@teardrop-hotels.com. I hope you will be back again to enjoy a better meal. All the best, Fort Bazaar

Lovely colonial style hotel with exceptional service standards.
The spacious cool rooms are a treat to return to after a day out in the hot sun.
The hotel is very well located close to but just off the busy streets where most of the restaurants and shops are
Complimentary afternoon tea & cakes and happy hour drinks are a very nice touch
The breakfast menu has a great choice and our meals were delicious.
I would definitely recommend this hotel

We used it. It was quick and comparatively inexpensive, certainly nothing like the kind of cost that I would expect from a hotel of this quality. There Is a central laundry in Galle, but outside the fort, where the hotel is located.

Hi there! Unfortunately it's still a while off! In the meantime, we're arranging transport and access to Zazou Beach (a restaurant/bar in Talpe which has a pool) or to another hotel with a pool approx 10 minutes away. All the best, The Fort Bazaar
