This was our first stay in Sri Lanka. Because of all the political turmoil, we were a bit scared to visit Negombo but we were greeted by the friendliest host we could imagine. The place has cottages in a beautiful garden with swimming pool. Sriraj the host did his very best to make sure we were happy and the breakfast and dinner were delicious! As a community service project, he also has a few boys working there that learn the hospitality trade and learn to speak English while helping the guests. We surely return for a final night stay on the last day of our trip before we take the plane!
This was our first (and last) hotel while visiting Sri Lanka. The location is excellent, however what makes it stand out is the host who welcomed us at 4:00 AM local time and saw us off at 2:00 AM before we left Sri Lanka. Kind, generous our host ensured we had a lovely Sri Lankan breakfast prepared (after we had slept in on arrival) and a lovely supper for us before we left. He also arranged for us to be picked up and dropped off to the airport. The rooms were air conditioned and for the power outages which plague Sri Lanka now, the rooms remained cool while the staff got the back up generators online. Excellent place to stay, excellent host and great value for money spent.
Everything was amazing from the lush facility to the kindness of our host. We really enjoyed the Sri Lankan breakfast and were also able to eat an incredible dinner. We really felt comfortable here and got all the help needed. Would love to come back.
Stayed five nights, we would have liked to have stayed longer, but it was enough to enjoy the exquisite surroundings with nature right on your door step. The grounds were beautifully kept with greenery all around. Great place for to do your Yoga meditation. Breakfast was great with a good selection of Sri Lankan and western offerings. They do offer fresh juices made out from their orchard and you could their freshly ground house coffee. For dinner we had Sri Lankan dishes with sea food. I loved its taste and aroma. As per Mr. Shiraj, they use traditional Sri Lankan cuisine with the clay pots. Rooms were very clean and washroom had an open to sky concept with lots of indoor plants. The whole villa was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly. Free WIFI and Uninterrupted power services during power failure time is a plus. If you are a nature lover and want to stay out from busy touristic place this a great place for you. Mr & Mrs Peries were great hosts. They are very knowledgeable on tours and provide great advice. Thank you so much for your hospitality and service. Hope to see you again next time we are in Sri Lanka.…
We stayed 3 nights in total, at the beginning and again at the end of our trip. Mr and Mrs Peiris are so kind and helpful and they go out of their way make their guests feel at home. The garden is beautiful and you can see that a lot of love and care has gone into everything. There are several bungalows for guests and each one has space around it for privacy. The only noise I heard was an owl hooting at night! There is a swimming pool which we made use of during our stays. I particularly enjoyed the delicious Sri Lankan breakfast which was freshly prepared for us - the pani pol (coconut pancakes) are amazing! Fresh fruit is always served and most of it is grown in the garden at Villa Shade. Mr Peiris kindly provided restaurant recommendations for us and he can also arrange a taxi from/to the airport, or a tuk tuk into town if you wish. I would recommend Villa Shade to anyone who is looking for a quiet place to stay near to Negombo town, or the airport. It is a bit hard to find but Mr Peiris was always available on the telephone to help with directions! My friend (who is a keen cyclist) managed to cycle to the beach but I found the traffic a bit too much. Mr Peiris collected me and the bike, took me back to Villa Shade and then called a tuk tuk so that I could join my friend at a lovely beach bar called Container for lunch - they serve great veggie and vegan food. Other reviewers have commented about the exceptional kindness and hospitality of the owners, and I can wholeheartedly agree. A travel tip is that although it seems like it will be way too hot, the comfortable sleeping temperature for the air con in this part of Sri Lanka is 26*! This advice was also given to us by a Sri Lankan friend.…
This is the fourth time I have stayed at Villa Shade. Villa Shade is the best stay to be with family. Privacy and amenities at its best. The management is extremely helpful and flexible. I would highly recommend this place to all families.
We stayed at this great hotel for our last day in Sri Lanka after an amazing 2 week holiday. It is a garden haven away from the hurly-burly. The villas are gorgeous and our family one had a wonderful outside style bathroom which was spacious and gave a sense of the rainforest surrounds. The villa itaelf had great a/c (for a small extra fee) and excellent ceiling fans. Spending our last day by the pool was the perfect way to to finish out trip. The staff are super helpful and we ordered food to be delivered from a local restaurant for dinner so we could relax after a long day's travel. There is a basketball hoop and small court for our 2 teenagers to burn off their energy. A lovely breakfast is served in the garden and great local dishes available for dinner if you order in the morning. Highly recommend this lovely reasonably priced place. Enjoy! …
You don't expect this high level villa. It's hard to find but we came by car and with google maps you can make it. Very high quality. Great beds and an excellent swimming pool. Nice people and a good breakfast.
We stayed here as a family with two young children. The beautiful grounds and pool area were like an oasis for us to relax after our long journey. The host was so welcoming and helpful, organising taxi from the airport and tuk tuks to and from the main town. The breakfasts were amazing and the rooms were spacious and very clean. We would have happily stayed longer than our 2 nights. The host again organized transport for our onward journey and couldn't do enough for us. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
We had booked this villa for our first day in Sri Lanka and must say it gave us the warmest welcome to a great country. It's located close to the airport. The owner is very courteous and goes out of his way to make the guests feel comfortable. The villa is beautiful and one of the most eco friendly places I have been to. The rooms are spacious and we really like the concept of washrooms. All things are done keeping in mind not to harm nature. The lawns are maintained properly. The dining area is great with a natural sort of aquarium being made. The owner told us alot about local food and about Sri Lanka . One should definitely stay here at the start or end of trip. The hospitality is beyond words.
