Some of things others did not like about Ngare Sero I loved, so know what matters and decide! It's true that the nature noises at night and early morning were really loud and almost primitive but for heavens sake we are in AFRICA how cool is that (I recorded it and put it on FaceBook). The rooms are not uber-luxurious... More

We stayed here for four nights, splitting the stay into two as we went on safari for a couple of nights. we were allowed to leave some of our belongings behind at the reception whilst away which was very good of them. The staff at the lodge are extremely well presented, courteous and available should you need them but never... More

This is a great place, absolutely amazing grounds with colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and lots of birds. The history is very interesting as well and the staff is pleasant and very helpful... so why only 4 stars? The rooms are good, not amazing and I wish they would upgrade them. The food is also ok, but would like a bit... More

Thank you for staying with us and writing a review. We do work hard all the time to make improvements and we have plans for a few new bigger and better suites. Of course keep in mind value for money in Tanzania, an expensive country. Accommodations with more luxurious rooms and plate service cuisine tend to be about double our... More

My family spent two days relaxing in the tranquil atmosphere of this beautiful hotel. Well tended gardens that attract many birds, pool, excellent small boutique. All of the staff that we met were cheerful, efficient, and welcoming. The meals were very well prepared, and we were seated in a different room or patio every meal. Rooms were spacious and well... This property is intimate and refreshing. Staff is very attentive yet unobtrusive. Food is excellent!! Freshly prepared, flavorful and well balanced. We stayed in 2 rooms, 2 different times with family around a Mt Kilimanjaro hike. First evening was spent in rooms 2 & 3. When we returned later in the week, we were thrilled to have rooms 11 &... Came here with my two daughters (3 and 6) for a restful weekend. We enjoyed every second. From swimming in the pool, riding horses, going for a hike do the dam, eating excellent food, to sitting on the veranda drinking tea.

I spent an excellent day in Ngare Sero lodge to escape from Arusha. Looking at this beautiful lake, spotting the white colobus monkeys or blue monkeys jumping in the trees. The environment is beautiful with a lush forest, a lake with lots of birds, a beautiful swimming pool to refresh when the weather is hot... The lunch (beef stew) was... More

Ngare Sero is a little oasis of tranquility and I can not recommend it highly enough if you are looking for a quiet, private and well cated stop over. The family run lodge has a great history, friendly staff and the food was very good. Rooms were clean and of a good size and there are a limited number of... More

Beautiful area, the green area, the lake, relaxing, nothing to complain about. But since we had better places the remaining trip, it does not get a top score. There were a lot of sounds at night, even more than in the tent in Serengeti. We would come back, so it highly recommended.

Thank you for your review. I would like to note, as you compare us to the other accommodations on your safari, that we are much cheaper than our competitors in quality. In comparison to the Serengeti camps for instance, we are less than 50% the price. Thank you for staying with us and hope to see you back another day.... More

Set in lush gardens amid forest and crystal clear waters on the slopes of Mount Meru, Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge is a wonderful place to relax and simmer in the immense beauty of East Africa. The Lodge has been adapted from an early colonial farmhouse built in the early 20th century and it is one of the oldest family lodges in Arusha. It offers only 10 garden rooms, 2 main house suites and pool cottage with 2 bedrooms, and provides personal service for its residents since 1974. Here you can spend the days amid nature, watching the changing colors of the Kilimanjaro glaciers while sipping drinks on the verandah or hiking in the forest inhabited by colobus and Sykes monkeys as well as hundreds of small animal and bird species. The Lodge is located only 30 minutes away from Kilimanjaro International Airport and Arusha town center and it is a perfect base while on safari in the northern circuit Tanzania. ... more   less
