Arusha National Park is a gem in Northern Tanzania, so often overlooked for the more well known places. Famous for its forest and lakes, the amazing birdlife, pink flamingos and the blue monkeys. There are many lodges of all varieties, but Momella which abuts the Park, is ideal. The individual lodges are quite unique, and spacious, but are getting a... More

As mentiones already, the place needs a makeover, at least the cottages. We were only three persons staying there, so had the whole dining area just for ourselves, which is still very nice to stay. After 10 no more power which is even more adventurous when all lights are off. Staff was really friendly and helpful, it's a pity that... More

We stayed for two nights as the first leg of a safari The rooms were clean and we woke to see a giraffe outside our door. We had the last bungalow and could rise early to take photos of the spectacular sunrise and views of Mt Meru and Mt Kilimanjaro . The lodge selection was made by our guide who... More

Having read the reviews, we had adjusted our expectations. We stayed for 2 nights before a safari. We learned from our guide who has been coming to Momella for many years that the owner died a year ago, so he is hopeful that a new owner will take over and rejuvenate the lodge. The staff was very friendly and hosted... More

We didn't stay here (thanks God) but we did have lunch. The facility looks very much run down and we were essentially the only lunch guests. The menu options(*read to us by our server) were very limited: 1 soup, 2 choices of chicken, and a fruit salad dessert). the potato soup was thin and included rosemary needles that should have... We stayed here for one night after an active day in Arusha in Np - which is really worth a visit. The lodge is simple, quiet, old, old-fashioned, living from the traditions of the Hatari film-shooting, but anyway - it is charming! Beautiful setting, silence, the garden is full of flowers, giraffe coming for breakfast... Rooms are basic and simple, yet... More

In fact the only thing what got adjusted the last 40 years have been the prices, which are absolutely comparable with well designed African Game Lodges. I´m giving them a rating of three points only because the staff is absolutely lovely and very nice. I would´t complain about the poor quality of the rooms or the just basic african food... More

Momella Lodge was good, average. Great location with straight on views of Mt. Kilimanjaro above the clouds at sunset. We stayed in one of the wood cabins, not the boma-style round huts (didn't see in these so can't speak to those accommodations). Each cabin separate, private, front porches with mtn views. Beautiful landscaping. Our room was older, shower leaked, but... More

We stayed one night in Momella Lodge and we loved it. We stayed in the cottages that are comfortable quiet and hot (we stayed here in early October and the night is cold). The restaurant where we had a dinner we liked it a lot. The strength is the scenery, the friendliness of the staff and tranquility in the garden... More
