This place is away too good to be a budgeted hotel. Maybe because of its location being somehow interior....if your driving those American vessels it's hard to enter the place as the road is tiny. I warmly recommend those who are on budget and wanna enjoy the best of Arusha. Served with good continental breakfast freely!!!! Toothpaste had to add...

This was a nice clean motel/ Lovely Staff but some who don't speak English. This is NOT a resort and only has basic motel facilities. Rooms are small and bathroom tiny... but I have stayed in smaller rooms in Europe at 10 times the price! The power was intermittent and generator a bit noisy at night. Breakfast was good. No...

Pros: - Quiet, clean - Friendly staff - Free wifi - Great deals available on Internet (about 2/3 less than quoted rate) - Above-average breakfast for this price point Cons: - Staff doesn't speak much English - The road down to the hotel from the main street (Nairobi Road) is unpaved, full of big rocks, and horribly bumpy (much worse...

We ( 6 members of our family including 2 children) spent 3 nights there, 2 nights at the beginning of our trip & 1 night following our safari before returning home. The rooms were quite large with very comfortable beds. The bathrooms were OK but the showers left a little to be desired & water heating system was rather antiquated...

We stayed here for one night after a weeklong camping safari because it was recommended by someone in our safari group and we wanted somewhere more central than our last stay in Arusha. We walked in with no reservation, which was no problem, but to us the price seems a little steep. The room is fine. The shower had very...

A friend and I needed a relatively inexpensive place to stay for five nights in Arusha. The Penguin was good for hot water and free wifi, but that is about all. As women in our early twenties we definitely have to be more on guard than the average travelers. Having already been in Tanzania for two months we had already...

I stayed here for 4 nights, it is clean, quiet and modern. There is a large supermarket across the Main Street from the hotel. I always had hot water, wifi and TV. Good price. You can take a daladala into town easily from main road. The Hotel Manager can assist with anything you might need. I was alone and felt...

We needed a budget hotel in Arusha as we were visiting the Serengeti and Ngorongoro National Parks. The Penguin was absolutely fine. Clean and very comfortable beds and a bathroom with a shower that worked well. Staff were friendly and helpful. A note of caution regarding the exchange rates they were offering...be careful if they quote in dollars and then...

I stayed at the Penguin for 3 non-consecutive nights in July with 2 friends and everything was perfect. The place was calm and the chamber was clean and comfortable with a large bathroom. We had an access to the balcony (this one is really nice for relaxing a little after a safari or a trek and it provides good views)....
