Dashir Lodge is more than a great safari lodge. It has a great community feeling. The staff are attentive and friendly. We loved their dancing and you can tell they love their job. Moussa makes the best cappuccinos! There were many thoughtful details. Shirley’s food is great and served beautifully! Darryl’s attention to detail made this a very smooth and easy trip! We have visited Africa many times but this Tanzania trip is one of our favourite adventures! We hope we can visit again one day.

We had an amazing time at Dashir and on safari with their amazing guide Jeremia. The smallest of details were taken care of, which made for a worry free vacation. The food was fantastic and the staff were very accommodating to dietary restrictions. The safari was the thrill of a lifetime! Our guide was very knowledgeable and knew where to look for the wildlife. Despite the unusual rains in November, we were fortunate to be able to do all of our planned day trips, including a walking safari in Arusha National Park..

Covid held us back from this trip and now we finally have made it to Tanzania and so glad we went with Dashir! it is a worry free trip - from the pickup at Kilimanjaro airport to the “tailored for you” excursions and safari. The beautiful accommodations, the warmth of the staff, delicious food were an important part of the Dashir experience. We felt at home! The safari exceeded my expectations - Malachi our guide was knowledgeable ( he knew all the roads and backroads of the Serengeti) and we saw incredible animals at every turn. We enjoyed meeting the people, learning about the Tanzanian culture and making new friends. This was our first visit to an African country and was an anxiety free experience!

Four of us had the privilege of participating in Dashir's 21 day excursion. Dashir made certain that we met Tanzanian people as well as enjoying incredible animals on a 9 day safari. The Lodge and excursions were well organized and we felt very safe, spoiled and part of a family. All accommodations were comfortable and unique and the drives were safe, albeit bumpy on the Parks' roads. We visited cooperatives, a post secondary institution, private and public schools, health care facilities, a family home in the village and a Maasai Village. Our safari was incredible. Jeremiah "made" the trip for us with his knowledge of the animals and geology of the Parks as well as his skilled driving on the challenging roads. He shared stories of the various areas, and assisted by translating for us when needed. We experienced the tent camps in the Serengeti and their bucket showers and excellent home cooking. The menus reflected the fact that we are Canadians while allowing us to experience some local foods. Trying to capture the amazing trip with Dashir in a few words is not possible, but we definitely recommend Dashir Lodge and Safari if you are looking for an African holiday. …

Our group of six booked our African safari with Dashir and we could not have been happier. Darryl masterfully planned every detail of our 18 day trip which included pre and post safari stays at Dashir Lodge, a 9 day safari and finally 4 days in Zanzibar. The lodge was situated on beautiful grounds with lovely accommodations and comfortable public areas. "Feel at home" is the theme and you definitely do! We always enjoyed returning to Dashir after our days away to enjoy pool time, excellent meals and the attentive staff. The safari was AMAZING - we saw so many animals in close proximity. Our guide, Harry, was so knowledgeable and went above and beyond in making this the trip of a lifetime - we consider ourselves so fortunate to have had Harry as our safari driver. Every day was an adventure - seeing the elephants and the wildebeest crossing were highlights, as well as the balloon ride and tented camps on the Serengeti! A few days in Zanzibar was a perfect end to the trip - wonderful to walk the empty sandy beaches and swim in the warm Indian Ocean. Dashir excels in working with small groups and personalizing the experience to what you want to do - and this is what sets them apart from large tour companies and facilities - not to mention their careful selection of qualified, professional tourism partners and the passion they bring to their roles. Being able to experience what Darryl and Shirley have built and how they contribute to the local community is an inspiration. The hospitality and amazing people at Dashir made our stay amazing. The food was so good and the tour that was planned was top notch. We are so glad we planned our Safari with Dashir they had all details from accommodation to the great Safari driver Harry. He knew so much of the areas we saw and the many different animals we saw. Would definitely recommend Dashir for planning your trip.

My wife and I were looking at booking a honeymoon in Tanzania this summer (2023) when we heard about Dashir. After inquiring and messaging back and forth with Darryl, it was immediately clear that this was the place for us. We laid out some of our interests and hopes for different experiences over our two-week stay, and the itinerary Darryl built for us was better than we could have hoped for. To start, I'm always a bit skeptical of any business that portrays itself as a "family". This is a rare situation where there really is no better word to describe the staff at Dashir. Everyone we met was wonderfully kind and we were very quickly made to feel completely at home, thanks in no small part to Shirley's charisma - if you have your walls up, it won't take long for her to knock them down! Elisante, Sarah, Musa, Simon, Jeremiah, Edna... the list of people at Dashir that made our stay a once-in-a-lifetime experience goes on and on. On our trip we climbed Mount Meru, went on a 5-day safari, and spent a few days at the end in Zanzibar, and every moment of the entire adventure was carefully planned and thought out by Darryl. The hiking guide and team (thanks to William and the guys!) made the journey up Mount Meru an exciting but safe challenge. On safari, Jeremiah expertly guided us through Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater parks, not only showing us sights and animals we never dreamed of seeing, but also doing so safely and responsibly. I’m certain we had the cleanest, most well maintained landcruiser anywhere we went! We were lucky to stay at a variety of accommodations throughout the parks, each one more unique than the last. Though Zanzibar was far away from Dashir, even that leg of the trip was totally planned and prepared by Darryl, making it an absolute breeze to wander and explore without worrying about arranging transportation or any other vacation headaches. So let me summarize: walking through Kikwe, visiting local schools, touring the on-site medical clinic, climbing a mountain, safari-ing(?) through Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro, hiking to waterfalls, shopping at local markets in Arusha, visiting a spice farm, snorkelling along coral reefs, relaxing on the beach – you get the idea – every minute and detail of our honeymoon was thought out and planned expertly, from transportation, park permits, to accommodations, and beyond. And the food! Every meal was delicious, whether in the comfort of Dashir’s lodge or sitting on the side of a mountain. I cannot express enough how much I recommend Dashir for your Tanzania visit – even with all the spectacular activities we explored, one of our favourite parts was whenever we’d return to Dashir and get to sit and chat with Darryl, Shirley, and their family. …

We planned our Safari and Zanzibar Island vacation through Darryl & Shirley Peters, owners of Dashir Lodge and Safaris. It was the best decision we ever made. Dashir created an itinerary specific to our group of 6. We chose to stay two days at the lodge prior and 2 days after our Safari. The chalets were exceptional, the food was delicious and the staff friendly and so accommodating. Our 9 day Safari was more than we ever expected seeing many animals including the Big 5 plus 3 migrations thanks to our experienced guide, Harry. At Dashir, we enjoyed a local home visit/lunch in a nearby village, a shopping excursion to Arusha (planned by Shirley), a tour of the lodge, its gardens and the newly built health centre next door. We can't say enough about the planning, attention to detail and the experiences we enjoyed thanks to the team at Dashir. We really felt at home with Dashir and felt confident that if we had any issues, Darryl was only a phone call away to assist us.
