We stayed before and after our Safari booked with another company. It was the perfect place to be for us. We arrived on the evening flight via KLM from AMS into JRO. We arranged for hotel pickup and as promised our ride awaited. We booked three trips with Vijiji-Lake Duluti, Arusha National Park and Tarangire and all were great. Our guide Suma was excellent company and all trips were worth doing. The staff at the hotel was friendly and attentive. The pool area was relaxing and lovely. The gardens/grounds of the property are beautiful. We ate all meals on site and have no complaints. Thanks Vijiji for a great stay!
We stayed 3 nights at the lodge. It's an oasis, filled with a beautiful garden, flowers, turtles, palms and a calm, relaxing pool. The lodge is embedded in a busy town - you hear the sounds around you day and night. The staff are very attentive, helpful and warm-hearted. We arrived late at night but felt welcome from the moment we got picked up at the airport by our guide. He took us on a safari the next day and it was wonderful. He was vey knowledgeable, had a great sense of humor but also knew when we just wanted to be quiet and enjoy the amazing animals. It was nice to see that the lodge was part of a foundation and that it was run by local people. We got some great "shopping ideas" from Sandra - we were 4 women - and found some beautiful treasures to bring home. Next time I think I would do more safaris but it was also relaxing to just hang out, eat and enjoy the garden and pool. We also were happy that it was affordable and not over the top prices. We will return again and would recommend it for anyone wanting to explore the area. Thank you!…
We stayed here two nights at the beginning of our safari. As this was our 14th trip to Tanzania, we have seen lots of lodges and accommodations, but this one is really special. Why? Because of the lovely garden, quiet atmosphere in the middle of a lively village, simple but inviting rooms, warm and welcoming service of the staff (thank you, Isaac), many possibilities for guided activities, and so on. Did I mention the food? That was great, especially the local dishes. Yes, we had to wait a bit longer than we are used to in Europe, but this is Africa. So better get used to the African pace and enjoy it while you are there. We can certainly recommend this place for anyone who is not looking for over-the-top luxury, but for honest African hospitality.
I stayed at Vijiji prior to heading out to Safari as well as upon my return. Beautiful private setting outside of Arusha. Room was lovely and comfortable. The pool was refreshing and delightful; food service was wonderful. Delicious breakfast and dinner. Cocktails poolside. I arrived quite late from the airport and there were wonderful hosts waiting for me. They promptly carried my luggage to my room with a warm welcome. The next day I went on a walking tour of the small local villages with gorgeous views of Mt. Meru. I observed some of the nearby schools and walked past beautiful fields. A nice contrast to the very busy Arusha!
Pice quiet place with helpfull stuff and a little pool. I was there with g adventures. Thd hotel is basic but nice. Do not ecpect european standards. We are here for true africa and adventure, the nature and its wonders.
We had a slightly rough start - due to some technical issues with the car, our driver could not come get us at the airport as originally planned. This was stressful but after some time, we managed to get in touch with the trip's organisers and we simply took a local taxi to the lodge. We received the money back in full (in Tanzanian shillings) and the staff granted us one dinner for two for free as compensation. It is possible to have a walk around the lodge and we would definitely recommend it, especially if the weather is nice. Everyone was friendly and from the path in front of the lodge (with local shops private homes and schools), you can get a view of mount Meru. We can only recommend our driver and guide - Joseph. Thanks to him we had an amazing time during our three-day safari. Joseph speaks English very well, he is knowledgeable and happy to explain things and to discuss in general. He drove safely and efficiently, was always sympathetic and helped us appreciate our time in Tanzania. We visited three main places on our safari - Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Manyara, each of which was impressive in its own way. The camp where we stayed, Mgombani, was ideal as a camping place - quiet at night, and by day, you can enjoy incredible views. Both in Mgombani and at the Vijiji lodge itself, we had great food. Can't get enough of the chicken pilau! Calisthe was taking care of the service and was nice. The only minus might be that sometimes small talk with the staff can get a bit lengthy, and the time waiting for dinner to be ready as well - but when on holidays that isn't an issue! Our private lodge was rather spacious and it was all fine - just remember that it can get chilly in the night, even in summer! Also, you need to wait some time for the boiler to function so water will get warm. This is however to be expected anywhere on a trip in Tanzania! We warmly recommend this place!…
My wife and I spent our first night of our self-drive safari here. Despite a very bad initial impression, the place turned out to be a nice stay. When we first arrived, they brought us to a room in the main building despite having booked a cottage. When we brought that to their attention, we were walked to a cottage, but soon discovered that the toilet would not flush. After filling the tank with gross brown water from the sink, we were able to get the toilet to flush, but then more gross brown water leaked out of the bottom all over the floor. We immediately requested a different room and were placed in the main building again where we found the toilet and sink to be much newer and in excellent working condition. From that point on, things went well. The staff were friendly and attentive, we slept well, plenty of hot water for showering, and the food was good. For a budget stay, the Vijiji Center is a decent option.…
Me and my family stayed at Vijiji for 4 nights and had a great time. The rooms are clean with all the basic amenities and with comfortable beds. There is a beautiful garden and big swimming pool, and the staff is always friendly and ready to help. The food was truly delicious. I can definitely recommend this place!
The place was such a beautiful one with lots of beautiful areas but there were very few children facilities compared to what was promised in the posters very few games and no children instructers the place proved to be more of adult use since the music was perfect the BBQ was excelent and the F&B service was great.
Service was great! The rooms are ordinary. The area didn't feel safe, we did not venture out of the gates. Remind them to start the water heater (manually) for a hot shower. Wifi wasn't working properly, buy one staff member was kind enough to open his hotspot for us. The pool doesn't seem to be treated. Nice gardens. Thank you for the laundry. Great staff on place.
