Not many shopping areas other than the regular tourist stalls. They tend to be more expensive than those found in Khao Lak center, which is about 7km away. It is easy to rent a scooter from one of the tour agencies (There are a couple of places around). Usually around 300 Baht/day though you can negotiate a better price if you are renting it for multiple days. Shopping is more plentiful at the Khao Lak center.
Would also suggest that you book with another resort nearby (Ibiza maybe?). Our experience at Khao lak diamond resort this January was not the greatest. Wished we had booked one of the other ones. Good luck!
