The family-run Panorama Hotel is located in the center of Mae Hong Son, close to the main town intersection. The great location makes it easy to explore all the sights and attractions of this quaint and dreamy town. In fact, Wat (temple) Hua Wiang is directly behind the hotel and can be accessed through the back entrance. Panorama is very close to the traditional market, walking street, and Jong Kham lake/park. Its only 1 km to the airport, and 1.5 Km to the bus station. Parking space is available for those arriving on motorbikes or in cars. You can easily get on or off the Chiangmai-Pai-Maehongson mini van in front of the hotel.

Detailed Reviews
Panorama was a great stay. The staff were not super friendly but were nice. The issue is that there is no elevator and no bellhop. So it is a lot of stairs with bags. the room was huge, beds were comfy, shower was hot and bathroom was clean. It could use a new tv, better wifi, and some stronger Windows to block out some noise. Otherwise, great price for the room we got.

This was a nice small basic hotel with cable and wireless. I had a great view out of my window of the WAT next door. I could hear the Monks chanting my first night there. It's a very short walk to the lake. It's about a 15 minute walk from the bus station. Everything was very clean. The sink leaked, but that's not a big deal since it's a shower room with a drain. The wireless is not very good. The signal goes in and out constantly. I assume that it's satellite based.

I was a little bit unsure before I arrived, due to some of the reviews on here. Well, the hotel turned out to be perfect for me. It was in a good spot, I could walk everywhere. There's a temple and monastry behind the hotel too! Its beautiful and sometimes I could hear the monks do a chant. I don't know what people were complaining about.
-Great room, cleaned every day.
-Friendly family running the place.
-Nice gardens and lovely traditional Thai style lobby.

Ive been to Mae Hong Son several times and always stay at the Panorama. So I think it's probably time I gave it a review. First off, I love the location, right in the middle of town and close to bars, restaurants and the lake. Everything you need is within a 2 minute walk! The rooms are the best in town, always clean and are quite spacious. Despite being in the centre of town noise is never an issue and the whole place is quite peaceful (there is even a temple right behind the hotel). Staff are always very helpful and the maids are always friendly and smiling, they clean your room everyday. I have tried a number of hotels in Mae Hong Son in the past and now I head straight to The Panorama as soon as I get into town.

The rooms and furniture looks old and the cupboard are quite dusty. Rated it 2 star. No breakfast. Only good thing is the staffs are very friendly and its a 10mins walk to the night market. There are also some shops nearby as its along the main street.

I've spent a week in this hotel. It is well located in the center of town. Friendly stuff and got free pick-up from airport. The price per night was 700 Baht, was supposed to include breakfast. The first night i've got a VIP (so i was told it is) room facing the main road. I couldn't sleep at night due the the extensive noise. I asked to move to a back side room. The beds are very comfy and this time is was much more quiet. From my windows I saw the back side of the temple. The entire building is very old, the lobby is very dark. The furniture in the room are old and some broken. The bath tub saw better days. The entire cleanliness is very mediocre. The curtain is the bath tub was filthy (!!!). Breakfast that was offered me was so dull (2 fried eggs, 2 toasts and a cup of tea), so i didn't bother having it. Bottom line - overpriced and will never come again to this hotel. There are so many better guest houses in town for the same price.

Response from Panorama_MHS, Manager at Panorama Hotel
Responded Apr 8, 2011
Thank you for your advices. We will consider all comments to improve our quality and services. In a hotel business, we need to refurbish the hotel constantly. So, your recommendations will be considered. You may forgot to mention about good things besides the location because you were a walk-in tourist and you mentioned that there are so many better guest houses in town for the same price, but you still stayed in the hotel for a week. If you really didn't appreciated I think you would have moved out from the first day. Please note that generally, Thai people are always friendly. If you need anything or have any comments, simply tell our staffs. Everything can be done immediately to solve your problems

I stayed here with wife and our son. Our stay was perfect. The hotel is in the middle of the town, just a short walk to the the beautiful lake (forgotten the name). The room was excellent - a double bed and a single bed for our son. Simple room with a nice modern bathroom. Our room faced the the temple behind the hotel - beautiful! The lobby is stunning - all wood and really nicely furnished. This and the friendly staff made the whole place feel very homely. Loved it!!

The best location!
Centre of the city, close to the pretty lake, market, bars and airport. (If you come by bus you can take the taxi bike for 30-40 thb.)
The staffs are so friendly and helpful. Even they can't speak fluently english but they try their best.
The room is clean and nice though.

I'm a regular visitor to Mae Hong Son, and always find myself here at Panorama Hotel. The hotel is situated right in the city center with many options of transportation. Standard room or deluxe are always my choice as the rooms are well-kept. Of course, you couldn't ask excellent condition from economy rooms, right?
The owners are friendly and very sincere, they are always there to help. Excellent family business style.
