We arrived in Mae Hong Son about 6pm and tried to find somewhere with a lake view for the night. We looked at all the surrounding hostels and this definitely had the cleanest room for the best price. It's very simple - just mattresses on the floor and the walls were very, very thin - but it's comfortable and well priced and from the first floor balcony you can see the lake. It's a great location and I think the best option in the locality.
Mae HOng Son is just lovely - very relaxed and chilled and worth a couple of nights.

My partner and I had a double fan room with a shared bathroom for 200B/night. The room was nothing more than two matresses on the floor, with bedding, but it was clean and really cheap. The bathrooms could have been cleaner but you get what you pay for; the showers were at least powerful and warm enough. Wifi was free and drinks and breakfast were available. The guesthouse was situated in an ideal location- just a moments walk from the lake at the end of the nightly walking street. We'd definitely recommend this place to budget backpackers!

Does what is says on the tin, 150 baht per night, I wish I can find more places like this one in my travels. Don't bother if you don't want to share wc/ shower or if you expect 5 star hotel accommodation for this price!

I stayed here in a room on the 2nd floor, it was just a mattress on the floor. They provided some towels, and bathroom was downstairs. It was 150 baht per night. The lady was very trusting and said to pay on check out. The room was very cool, and I didn't even need the fan. Outside of the room was a nice sitting area with view of the lake.

It will not be the accommodation of your dreams, but if you are under budget and you intend to spend in Mae Hong Son one or two night, this guest house might be the choice.
Is very basic, but central, near the lake, clean, quiet and with a friendly atmosphere...
Breakfast not included, but if you don't want to leave in the morning with empty stomach, is possible to have a pretty wide choice of food between local and western at reasonable prices...

I was staying here for 2 nights. Very clean, silent, stuff do not disturb You at all. Has a good location - just near the lake where You can admire the views of twin-pagodas! 10 minutes walking to the central market where You can have Your cheap local food. 5 minutes walking from the main street of Mae Hong Son.

We went to this guesthouse 3 days ago, it's a really cheap guesthouse 300B for a clean room with bathroom. There is a double mattress on the floor, and you have a hot shower.
Everywhere around the lake there is a couple of GH but it's more expensive and not really clean.
The breakfast is generous and cheap as well, you have also a laundry for 35B/kg.
To sum up a recommend this place for a night or two

Nice, simple, no frills guesthouse. Sleeping mattresses on the floor, fan to keep mosquitos off of you, very close walk to everywhere in town. About 20 minute stroll from the bus station and right by the main lake park.

Good place to stay. Reasonably clean, free hot water if you bring your own coffee.
150 Baht per night so can't complain. No chickens were around when I was there.
If you walk to the top of the road (away from the lake), at the very end is the morning market. This also sells food in the evening as well.
The TAT is worth visiting (on the way to the Bus Station, nearly opposite the night market) to get maps and advice.
If you are visiting in the rainy season, 7eleven sell ponchos for 20 - 30 Baht. You will need it,
