Value
Seven (7) km out of the town of Mae Hong Son , Fern Resort is nestled in a small valley. Surrounded by forest-covered mountains and rice paddies, it offers comfortable accommodation in unspoiled, yet soothing nature. A small creek and a well maintained ground with rich fauna and flora make this eco-tourism resort the perfect place to stay for nature lovers. We would like our resort to be the forest home for the naturalist who is looking for a peaceful place. You will not find telephones or TVs in your room, but instead you can enjoy the beautiful sounds of nature.

Excellent meet and greet. It a large resort with absolutely fabulous gardens, I take my hat off to the groundskeepers they have done a stunning job. It also has two swimming pools, coffee shop and shuttle bus in to town.

The rooms are spacious with a hairdryer, good size safe, aircon, kettle but no tea or coffee which was a bit odd (bring your own) and one mug. Bed were wonderful and so was the linen.
Plenty of hot water and excellent WiFi all over the resort.

Breakfast was also very tasty with wonderful views from the restaurant

What made it for me was drifting off to the sound of nature outside your door, it’s quite a relief for me as I suffer somewhat with insomnia.

I have never felt more relaxed staying in a resort or hotel!
If you seek over attentive starch suited staff then this place isn’t for you, however, if you want a totally relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff then this is the place.
There are 2 swimming pools and space everywhere. Evenings can be spent around camp fires.
Mae Hong Son is a great place to explore, the locals are so friendly and value your spending.
This is a great example of real Thailand, not the Thailand most see when in places like greedy Phuket where ripping tourist off is unfortunately the norm.
Value, quality & beauty are abundant in Mae Hong Son. Thank you to the staff @ the Fern Resort & all locals we were lucky enough to meet in Mae Hong Son, we will be back!

This resort is beautifully surrounded by nature. We loved sitting by the pools, eating meals in the restaurant and were well taken care of by the staff. If you want a relaxing, tranquil place to stay, this is it. We loved it.

We arrived in Dec. 10, 2020 and checked out Dec.12, 2020. A room with a view for a standard room, we booked for a suite room but got a standard room with extra bed.
acceptable for a short stay. Location is great , situated in the valley and tropical forest, paddy fields, Staffs are friendly and helpful, breakfast line are limited choices, but coffee is o.k. for me. WI FI not sure that is limited access or not we are triple room, but can be log in only 2 persons. The place is much far from the main road and no public transport, only hotel shuttle available.

This was a real find. You must stay here for a couple of days if doing the Mae Hong Son loop, accessible by car or motorbike. It is not far from Mae Hong Son and is absolutely magnificent. Tranquil and with such tropical beauty. The rooms are spacious little huts with a large main area with very comfy bed and a ensuite that is also spacious. We also had a small verandah. There are 2 pools on the property with the infinity style pool offering great sunset views. The gardens are beautiful and abound with butterflies. The resort also has a coffee shop and restaurant for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Our breakfast was included and delicious. Whilst there we also had an amazing and relaxing massage. We only planned to stay one night however this place was so special we added another night!!

This eco resort is hidden in the dense green forest, 8 km from the city. The resort impressed us at first sight. Staffs were nice and helpful. The path that leads to our room was surrounded by numerous green trees like we were trekking into a thick tropical jungle. Our room was a peaceful Shan style cottage with thatched roof and wooden floor in the midst of lush greenery. Room was clean and comfortable. Everything was well-functioning. There was a campfire in the night and coal-roasted sweet potatoes for free. Their buffet breakfast was also good. Such a wonderful moment :).

Highly recommend!

Fabulous stop for two nights on tuk tuk trip around Northern Thailand. Bungalows vary in quality/facilities but all adequate. Two pools but don't miss the infinity pool at the bottom of the resort. Paradise!'The only downside was its early in the season and not all facilities/bars/cafes were open and no drinks served after 9pm. Out of town about 10mins so could get taxi if wanted.

This is a stunning location on the edge of the National Park. The Shan style cottages were private and spacious but our bed was rather hard and there wasn’t much storage space. The grounds are beautifully maintained and you feel you are living in the forest. The swimming pools were beautifully situated in different parts of the ground.

The staff who are mainly from the Karen tribe were charming and helpful. The buffet breakfast was delicious with a large choice and the dinner menu had a good choice of local dishes from the Mae Hong Son region.

The drive from Chiang Mai is about 6 hours of fairly tortuous mountain roads but the scenery is magnificent throughout - it’s well worth the effort. We will certainly visit again if we return to Northern Thailand.

We were here 22 years ago, then in the summer, now in the rainy season. The capacity of the hotel has increased, the flair has decreased. There are fewer dogs than before and only one of the typical water-powered bamboo instruments still works.
The rooms are designed as bungalows and create seclusion.
There is still no shelf for the washing bag in the bathroom. But there is a small desk to sort the photos in the evening.
Breakfast at the rich buffet, dinner with typical dishes.
From the infinity pool there is a beautiful view of flowers and rice fields. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
If we were back in the area, we would stop here again.

Difficult to rate this place. On one hand it is an absolutely unique place where each room is a separate bungalow in the middle of the jungle and rice fields. On the other hand all is old and disfunctional. In our room the tap was no longer tightly connected to the sink, shower walls were full of mold, and bed was extra super hard and bouncy. With significant renewal this could be a top hotel. Restaurant is really nice and the food was amongst the best eaten in Thailand
