Detailed Reviews
We stayed for 3 nights and had the 2 king/sleeper couch with kitchen suite. It was spacious and we were very comfortable there. The television didn't work the first night but the fellow behind the desk (later found out he's the owner), worked very hard to fix it and finally got us television on day 2. No cable, it was a Roku TV so no way to hear about current events in the area but at least we had Netflix, etc. The hotel is within walking distance to Uncle Sam's and our fishing charter, A-Bay, as well as a lot of restaurants and gift shops. We walked a lot and really enjoyed how close we were to the center of town. The hotel had a pool, ice machine, soda machine and there was a coffee pot with coffee in the room, as well as a microwave, small fridge, stove and oven, and a nice dining table. It was everything we needed and more. Budget friendly and clean. The shower was small but water pressure was great. Beds were comfortable and the sofa sleeper was similar to a futon that laid flat so there was no annoying bar in the middle of the bed like normal sofa sleepers. Pillows were a little too full for me and my one son but my other son loved them. We were very comfortable and the customer service given to us by the owner was excellent. Parking was free and right outside the door, it was very quiet and safe. We would definitely stay there again.

Rooms remodeled, got rid of carpet, very clean and sanitized. Great location directly on the St. Lawrence River. Much cheaper than the Riveredge. There is a pool and ice machine, but no other amenities. However, it is right on the end of town so several restaurants and shops are within a 1 - 2 minute walk. I have been staying here (in a room on the channel with a view of the amazing Boldt Castle) yearly for over 30 years each July and will continue to do so. I go to fish and go boating around the beautifully landscaped islands with beautiful old homes. The river view from the balcony is so calming and peaceful. Prices lower off season. Went a second time in October and was able to stay and boat for super cheap cost!

I selected Capt.'s Inn & Suites because we were only looking for a room for one night, and didn't need fancy. Capt.'s Inn & Suites did not disappoint! The property is easily accessible off 12 East and sits just outside downtown Alex Bay. We were on motorcycles; the parking lot was spacious and we were able to safely park our bikes right outside our room. Check in was a breeze (the room was pre-paid in advance).
The room itself is simple and small. But sufficient for two people (we had a king room pool side). Television, fridge, ac. The bathroom is simple and efficient, I appreciated the extra shelving. The shower itself is a single stall shower, which I usually hate, but it at least had shelves for toiletries. The only downfall to the shower was the shower head is basic and water pressure was somewhat lacking. But it did the job.
Hubby felt the mattress was too soft, I found it just right (and it's my review!)
The pool is currently closed, which didn't matter to us anyway. There is a restaurant onsite as well, but only serves breakfast and lunch.
Both hubby and I agreed we would definitely stay here again, and are already planning our next trip!

Room Tip:Â Our room was in the 200 level area; I think rooms in the 100 level may offer more privacy.

We booked here on a whim but have stayed at Capt. Thomson’s numerous times and never had an issue. When we first walked in, We were impressed with the size of the room and how nice it all looked. Things quickly changed when we took off our sandals and walked around. The floors were filthy with sand and food crumbs. The bathroom curtain had red mold growing up the bottom as well as had grass on it. There were dead flies and bees in the windowsill. The bed skirt was lopsided and looked like it was just thrown on. There were people smoking in front of their rooms when there are signs posted saying smoking in designated areas. I went into the office to ask them to address the smoking. She came out and the people just blew her off. We asked that housekeeping come in and clean and it looked like nothing had been done except a new shower curtain. The beds are extremely uncomfortable - hard and squeaky. Quiet time is 10-9 but with the walls being so thin you could hear every single thing going on in the next room. We could make out the conversation they were having as well as being woken up by their blow dryer. By the time our trip was over, we couldn’t wait to get out of there. When I asked to speak with a manager or owner, she told me to write a review online and he would see it. Well here it is! What a terrible attitude! DO NOT STAY HERE!

+1
If you have kids do not stay here. The rooms are very small even though they say they sleep 4. The beds are god awful and so uncomfortable. The bathroom is so small and just a sink no space to put anything on including your tooth brush. The drain was dirty. The shower wall was not connected to the actual wall. The light took 5 minutes to warm up before it turned on. The gap under the door a mouse can get through. They say no smoking everyone is smoking outside their rooms and on the picnic tables. A lot of people smoking weed and a lot of people drunk and also bringing drinks to the pool and hanging out. All what they say you will be kicked out for but they don’t care when you complain. If you are an adult and want to party this is the place if you want a cheap room. But for families spend more and stay in town and a place that cares about your concerns.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Captain’s Inn and Suites. I normally do not stay at motels but due to the last minute nature of this trip this was our only option. The rooms were clean and contained a small refrigerator. The only reason this doesn’t get 5 stars is the rooms are small. We stayed in a room with a patio and which was an upgrade and the room was still small. The bathroom contained only a shower stall which worked for our visit. The pool was well maintained and the area around the pool was clean. Next time when I visit Alex Bay I will probably try to stay closer to the actual water, but this motel is only a short 2 minute drive from the water and is adequate if you are in a pinch. I would stay here again.

Booked and paid through Travelocity for $210.00. they took a separate deposit of 160.00 from another credit card. When I called to see why deposit wasn’t returned after the stay. They claimed it should of been reflected in my balance at end, that did not happen so I basically paid $370.00 for 2 nights. Customer service was not helpful and told me to call Travelocity, needless to say I guess no refund, my stay was definitely not worth $370.00. Won’t be back. Very disappointed

Went to ABay on a tour for Boldt Castle. Room 106 was immaculately clean, had been updated very recently and we had a small balcony on the water facing the castle. Ships are only about 100 yards offshore since the channel is between the castle and the hotel. You have coffee available in the office and a whiteboard lists the ships scheduled to passing by daily. The staff here are very knowledgable and friendly. We will stay here again. They are right next door to the tour ships for the Thousdand Islands and right across the street from Riley's ... a good restaurant for breakfast.

We were going to be in Alexandria Bay for 4 days and opted to rent a room with a kitchenette. Did not use the oven but did use the microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Not many dishes available and had to ask for a coffee cup. Only Styrofoam was available. There were no dishtowels on hand. Had to put a towel over the window because the curtain was not wide enough to close it. The beds and pillows were comfy. Wi-fi was good. The room served our purpose however furniture needs updating. Bathroom needs to be completely done over - - shower was so tiny (probably about 2'x2') didn't even want to turn around in it for fear of falling. No grab bar in the shower either (I thought it was a state law you needed a grab bar.) Bar soap too small to use in the shower. Nowhere to put stuff other than the counter by the sink. Needs some shelving to put stuff on. It really looks nice in the picture but reading some of the reviews (mine included) management has not done much to address the problems people had, including the dirty floors. Air and heat worked effectively. Friendly staff. This hotel is outside of the main business area. There is no water view. I would not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again.

This was a very nice motel. Access was easy from the main road. The room was very bright and clean. It had two queen, not very comfortable, beds, a bench for luggage, frig, and tv. It was simple, pretty, well appointed. We had a large balcony overlooking a large yard. They enforce an after 10pm noise policy and keep the property non-smoking. It was affordable and better than expected.
