The Applewood Inn, formerly known as The Sir Robert Peel Motor Lodge, which is located just outside Alexandria Bay, was acquired in late summer of 2013 and we have begun to debut newly renovated rooms on an ongoing basis. A wonderful location, it boasts 7 acres of beautiful countryside for all your family time events. The Applewood Inn features King, Queen and Full size beds. Our rooms are huge compared to the rest(15X17). Wireless internet for your kids tablets, color cable TV, microwaves, refrigerators and A/C in every room. Mickey serves coffee and donuts on the back deck weekend mornings. The bonfire pit is a big hit on warm summer weekend nights. Pull up a chair and have a brewsky, toast the smores and have a blast. We are a pet friendly establishment with a small onetime pet fee. It's camping with a room!!!

Detailed Reviews
This place is an absolute gem in Alexandria Bay, it may seem a little bit rustic, but between the fantastic location, spectacular customer service, in recent renovations - this is one of the best deals on the eastern seaboard. Quick access to the border, and a very relaxing environment makes this an Alexandria Bay gem. I would have given this eight stars out of five, this is a wonderful place to stop for a couple of days

Instead of camping and to avoid big ticket pricing for Labor Day weekend, we opted to stay at the Applewood Inn, just a few minutes outside of the main drag in Alex Bay. We are seasoned Alex Bay/1,000 islands visitors and understand the pros and cons of being directly in town, paying for nicer resorts, camping, etc. The Applewood was a very affordable option with caring family owners who were very accommodating. The rooms were basic, but had good sized refrigerator, coffee maker and a microwave. The owner made coffee and put out newspapers outside of the rooms each morning and lives on-site so is available for any issues. I would recommend this place to singles and families alike who would use it as a base for all of the great places to visit in the area. It was clean and there was plenty of hot water, no complaints at all, and when we left an item in the room, he sent me a photo and even offered to bring it to us over an hour away to our town next time he was near us. It's so nice to have such great customer service and caring people these days! Thanks again for a great stay and we will be back!

Me and my fiance were driving from Toronto to Plattsburgh through a blizzard and once we got over the border we couldn't see 5 ft infront of us and thought we were going to end up in a ditch and so we called this motel and luckily the person at the front desk by the name of Mickey answered and told us they technically were closed but we're accepting only emergencies and took us in. He guided us all the way to the front of the building and then quickly got the rooms ready for us and made sure we were comfortable which was super nice of him. The rooms were comfy and was perfect for a quick nights sleep. We truly appreciate all the effort from Mickey and highly recommend this place and we're so grateful for all his help he most likely saved our lives that night.

We stayed here in July with our daughter. As was the case most hotels were booked in Alex Bay, except this place. You can tell it's an old motel, one that's only open during the summer. However, it's clean, and we were placed in the corner overlooking the pool, and it was as if we were the only ones there, because it was very quiet. The pool was nice and clean, too, no frills. There's lots of free space to roam as it had a huge field behind the motel with picnic tables.
If you like your basic motel with no frills, and on a budget, this was a good choice. Alex Bay is a few miles down the road so you need to take the car to go wherever you need to go (gas, grocery store, etc.)

We stayed there for a few days on our honeymoon which was cut short when our dog got very sick. It is very clean and tidy. Very well maintained. The owner is very nice. He was very sweet to our poor pug. We definitely can't wait to go back. We will definitely stay there again.

For sure not a 'high end' motel but it is clean, comfortable and a great value for a resort town. Owner is friendly and goes out of his way to make sure you are comfortable. Rooms have microwave and mini fridge.

We just spent 3 nights at the Applewood Inn. This is a renovated motel strip along Rte 12 close to Alex Bay. There is a nice sign (lit up if you happen to be arriving at night as we were), spacious rooms, nicely painted and very clean. Mickey was more than accommodating. He set us up in a room with 2 queens and a cot. The AC is great (very hot weekend so we appreciated it.) There is also a small frig and microwave. We brought a hair dryer with us. The rooms are good sized with an entry "porch" and a nice sized balcony from a sliding glass door. Two chairs out there too. The bathroom has new fixtures. A box of tissues would be a good addition. Mickey is working on the place, renovating rooms as he can. Our room was newly renovated. In the future, I hope he adds pots of flowers and some exterior cosmetics. Also new photos. The pictures he has don't really do it justice. Very nice people, hard working, excellent value. We were here in high season, one of busiest weekends of the year. Paid $99 for 2 wknd nights and, I think $59 or so for weeknight. Mattress very firm. Good number of plugs for electronics, TV in good order. We have already recommended the Applewood Inn to others.

Recently stayed 2 nights in a double room. Owner Mickey very hospitable, friendly and was willing to go the extra mile to make you happy (within reason). He even met us outside at our room door when we first entered. Room was very clean, water pressure great and hot. Nice having AC, microwave and fridge. We had a small budget and this room fit the bill. Wonderful, convenient location minutes from the US/Canadian border, near beautiful St Lawrence River communities, and many attractions. We appreciated Mickeys kindness. We would definitely stay again.

Sir Robert Peel Motor Lodge is a great place to stay. Under new management and are doing renovations. Put a new roof on the whole place, rooms are clean and comfortable updated bathroom very comfortable beds my wife slept like a rock. Mickey is very accommodating, on top of everyone's needs poor guy works seven days a week and he is the greatest guy you could ever meet. Would diffidently stay there again and recommend it to anyone who would like a very nice place to stay in Alexandria Bay, it is only a mile and half from downtown and the rates are great. Thanks for everything Mickey and keep up the great work.

You can back your car up to your room door that works well for divers. Free coffee in the morning . It is not directly in town but a short drive from downtown. Allowed us a late night check in. Always accommodating.

Hi Cody; the Sir Robert Peel closes for the season at the end of September, but our sister Motel and Restaurant has rooms available all year. Pjs had been in business since 1986 and our restaurant will still be open at that time. The rate for that date for 2 dbl beds would be 49 plus tax and we would be happy to book one for you. Just give us a call at 315-686-9886. Thank you Pam
