We visited 1000 Island for our anniversary. We stayed in the Captain's suite for three nights. Comfortable room. Clean and nicely decorated with antiques . Creative breakfasts, and the coffee was really good too. Didn't eat again until later in the evening. Enjoyed our conversations with Sam and the other guests. Great location. Within walking distance to the tourist attractions,...

This was our first stay in a B&B in the Alexandria Bay and Clayton areas. We really enjoy B&B's, and Sam and her beautiful establishment reminded us why. The room was delightful, a perfect blend of antique and eclectic, and totally fun. It should be mentioned in a review that Sam is a fabulous chef; more importantly, she was great...

I'm still coming off of the high of staying at Captain Visger House, and I now I'm completely spoiled and not very happy about returning to real life! The best part of the visit were the two wonderful breakfasts. It's been said over and over in the other reviews, but Sam is an amazing cook. I don't know how she...

We just finished our 2 night stay at Captain Visger House and, thanks to other TripAdvisor reviews, were not disappointed. Upon checking in, Sam did not ask for credit card info, as with most other establishments. Nice and relaxing atmosphere. She did ask us if we were familiar with the area and suggested a few places to grab a decent,...

We came to the area for a wedding but were amazed at the incredibly beautiful St. Lawrence river and the local geography! The Captain Visger house is perfectly situated near the heart of things, Sam is an engaging host, an expert in the local history, a great source of information, and a great cook. We enjoyed the comfort and decor...

Sam lived up to all that I was inspired by on her website. She was so engaging, listened attentively to meet our interests, and made it very clear that she wanted to attend to our every preference. We enjoyed her healthy approach to food, toiletries, and the environment. Three nights in the Harmonius room were very pleasant. We liked Sam's...

We stay in lots of B&Bs and this one was the most relaxing ever. Sam opened her house to us. She invited us to help ourselves to wine in her kitchen. We enjoyed the patio. The common areas of the house were comfortable and well stocked with readings about the historic local town. Both breakfasts were outstanding. Sam made sure...

Late review, but by the looks of things it hasn't changed a jot! The house is amazing, quintessential American as far as the Brits are concerned. Comfortable beds, great showers. Food is sublime - never had Mexican for brekkie but would definitely have it again! Cats are cool but the best bit about it is Sam - one of the...

Captain Visger's is a gem. My wife and I stayed there for our fourth wedding anniversary and would recommend it to anyone. It is located within walking distance to the ferries and restaurants and was decorated with a stylish mix of funky and classic deco. The breakfast was fantastic (well above the norm) and the hospitality was charming. We will...

in fear that nobody could ever live up to the standard that Sam has set! This house is unbelievable! I really enjoyed walking around the house and noticing all the different eclectic decorations. I sat with Sam we talked just like old friends. The location is perfect! We walked everywhere we wanted to go. Our first night at the captains...
