Detailed Reviews
We stayed at Lawley house twice over December 2020, both times the experience was excellent. Its a beautifully decorated, secure place to stay, with good off street parking. The rooms are large and well maintained. Peter the host is super helpful and gave us the run of the place, really making us feel like it was a home away from home. Mavis prepared us a great breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage and tomato. This must be one of the best places to stay either for business or if visiting Bulawayo.

+1
Lawley House offers great accommodation with really stunning in an old building retrofitted for the 2020 family.
Rooms have beautiful fittings, great beds and linen and wonderful wooden floors and a nice lounge in each unit. We use a single unit to sleep 4 comfortably.
Breakfast was great with a wonderful staff. Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed.
Loved it.

My recent experience at Lawley House was unpleasant and disheartening. While the property has a charming, old colonial feel, my initial encounter left much to be desired.
Despite having my accommodation booked and prepaid through my company, I faced unexpected obstacles. Upon arrival, I was directed to the incorrect part of the property due to a misleading address (59 vs. 59A Lawley Road). When I contacted the owner, an elderly gentleman (Peter), he quickly informed me that no rooms were available, even after I provided confirmation and proof of payment.
This dismissive response persisted until I escalated the situation with evidence, at which point a room miraculously appeared. The whole interaction left me feeling unwelcome as if an unseen barrier influenced my initial reluctance to accommodate me.
A young woman assisting the host attempted to smooth things over, suggesting I contact her directly in the future. However, given that the provided number was the owner’s, this advice seemed impractical.
The most troubling aspect was the feeling that my treatment might have been influenced by factors unrelated to any genuine booking confusion. It's disappointing to encounter such barriers today, and it underscores the importance of ensuring all guests receive equal and unbiased hospitality. 😟

A wonderful and great find in Bulawayo. The almost historic buildings are delightful and beautifully furnished spacious rooms, pool & garden and terrace dining. Hospitality provided by Pete and Jessie first rate. Meals carefully prepared and meeting all dietary needs.

Such a gem of a spot in the heart of the suburbs. Good clean comfy accommodation. A walk away from the cafe. Pete & the team always make sure the stay is comfortable and relaxing! Nice to pool to cool off in the summer too

What a convenient and peaceful spot. Great for our family visit to Bulawayo. William and Mavis were exceptional and the breakfast and dinner spectacular! Great to be able to relax every morning and evening on the beautiful veranda. We will definitely be revisiting.

I can recommend this Lodge as one of the best places to stay in Bulawayo !
The service, accommodation, comfort are second to none.
A long time since I have enjoyed staying in such a fantastic lodge.
4 bedrooms all on suite with a lounge and kitchen in between.
A pool for the summer months.

We stayed for an evening and cancelled our sleepover. Amazing house but felt like we were intruding. Pete was rude and abrasive. What a pity. Staff was brilliant. Stay here as long as you don’t have to deal with him. Won’t come back despite the incredible place

We arrived at Lawley House in Bulawayo on a bitterly cold day to a warm welcome by the owner Peter Einhorn.
Fires were burning in the hearth and we immediately felt at home.
Our team were all very impressed with the ambience ,the facilities and the excellent quality of the soft furnishings and decor and particularly the high standard of crisp clean linen .
Celebrating a sixtieth birthday the lodge provided us with a lovely served meal with all the trimmings.
Breakfast in the morning at the cozy coffee shop next door (same owners) was sumptuous and was enhanced by the friendly and efficient staff.
Management provided personalized airport transport for our South African visitors and a delicious packed lunch for our onward journey to the Matopos.
The consensus of our group was that we couldn’t have had better accommodation and treatment which was a memorable and special start to our trip.
