I frequently use Southern Comfort on all business trips to Bulawayo and if it was not for this wonderful place, with its amazing management, staff and tranquil gardens I would never be so excited to go to Bulawayo! This is the perfect setting for an escape, be it after a business day or travelling, this is the oasis in the...

Southern Comfort Lodge is one of those places where you meet people with whom you might think (presume) you have little in common - ex-professional hunters, white "Rhodies". But as your ignorant prejudices are penetrated you can't help but see the incredibly warm, strong, patriotic people behind the opposing points of view to your own. I still don't understand tourists...

Helpful staff, simple rooms, but clean an comfortable and a serene garden to unwind at the end of the day. We ate a couple of meals here which were good, and hosted drinks for clients. The latter was very well organised and the venue really attractive.

It could not be more friendly and inviting! The food, rooms and atmosphere are all first class. It was a pity we were only there for one night, but we were treated like regulars anyway.Highly recommended.

We were staying at Aloe Lodge (beautiful place) The owner recommended Southern Comfort Lodge for our dinner. The staff were very welcoming and the food was delicious, very reasonably priced. The place is set in a beautiful location. Our family certainly enjoyed the night. Would only recommend a high chairs for families with children.

Great hosts, quality accomodation and great food. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AN IF VISITING ZIMBABWE use it as a base to visit nearby locations. Craig and his family will guide you to some great experiences. 5 star amongst the sadly decaying city of Bulawayo............but go, you will not regret it.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
SOUTHERN COMFORT ESTATE, named for the original farmstead on which it is located, was bought by Craig and Lesley Hunt in 1994. It featured only a barren patch of sparse bush and a breached dam; it was unfenced, dry and dusty, with a meagre supply of water and a lonely farmhouse and stable yard, built originally in the 1920s. Since those early days, Craig and Lesley have fostered and created a dream – today, the Estate features a large dam, lush green gardens, a prolific borehole, a six-chalet lodge, conference centre and campground. As they say, from a tiny seed stems a great tree! The Estate boasts a cool, calm atmosphere, offering peace and tranquillity to all who visit – a welcome haven from the chaos of everyday life. Craig and Lesley, having begun all those years ago, still reside on the property and eagerly welcome all who happen to pass their way. They have two children, a son, Scott and a daughter, Tanya.Southern Comfort Estate has been a long time in the making, and we are still striving for the highest levels of perfection. There are numerous plans and projects for the future, and we would like to invite you to see for yourself what big dreams can achieve… For inspiration, and relaxation, welcome to SOUTHERN COMFORT ESTATE ... more   less
