We stayed at The Sleep Inn Buffalo Amherst on September 14/15th (one night) 2022 in Room 514. First impression of the place pretty clean and inviting though a little dark and slightly outdated. The receptionist, Melanie, was outstanding, super friendly and followed through with all our requests. She made our stay exceptional! As far as the room - adequate. There are a few MINOR maintenance and housekeeping issues that should be addressed to make the room better:
1. The bathroom toilet paper dispenser had used up roll of paper on it with only one use remaining! It had the customary “v” fold so I know housekeeping saw it but let it fly. See photo below.
2. Speaking of “fly” there was a fly buzzing around in the room when we first entered. Very annoying. Had to swat it.
3. The bathroom light (not the shower) works but intermittently. It takes a few tries to get it to come on. Probably the switch needs replaced.
4. The bathroom door does not lock from inside. Needs slight adjustment.
5. The shower head pipe coming from the wall has a cover plate that will not stay in place and slides out from the wall and falls on the shower head.
6. At the bottom of the shower door, inside and outside, there is an ugly buildup of mold/mildew. Needs cleaned better.
7. The room has a slight mildew odor and smells like feet. Maybe it needs a good shampooing.

Overall, a pleasant stay. The breakfast, on Sept 15, was much better than we expected. Plenty of everything to make for a great breakfast. The dining area employee (did not catch her name, from Cambodia) was super nice and friendly and talked to us at length and asked us how our stay was; which was overall great!

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you so much for the detailed list of issues you found. I greatly appreciate the feedback and will have my staff look into these issues immediately. The toilet paper being empty is completely unacceptable and is not up to our standards. Thank you again for being so detailed I truly do appreciate it. We value your business and do hope that you will give us another chance to give you an amazing stay.

I would absolutely recommend Sleep Inn- Amherst for anyone who is traveling on a budget but would like a good quality hotel stay.
Pros:
Very Clean
Quiet
Basic, but tasty breakfast
24/7 coffee and tea!!
Comfortable bed
Friendly staff
Very accommodating to my family with our 1 year old
12 pm check out

Cons (ish):
While rooms are nice, they are quaint
My room only had plug ins on one side of the bed
Not a ton of breakfast options
Dated elevators

I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel and the price, and I strongly recommend it.

Clean and a hot breakfast along with the standard comp breakfast found at most hotels, so appreciated this. Nice sized rooms and bed were comfortable. Large, flat screen TV and truly appreciated that it was a step in shower and not a tub with shower. Sink was separate from stool/shower and liked that feature. Plenty of lighting and ports for charging. Courteous staff. Well located with restaurants nearby.

Had a bus load of 44 travelers. Checked in to the hotel and was given a handful of keycards, no order no sequence. I had to organize the room keys myself. My room was full of gnats. The smell of mildew was overpowering. Called the front desk and the gentleman said he had nothing to spray in the room then abruptly hung up the phone. I then went to the front desk to fax my passenger list, per Diamond Tours instruction, and he was unable to operate the fax. I would not send my worst enemy to this place. It needs to be closed down for renovations

I was quite pleased with this property. My understanding is that the property is not a new build, but it obviously has been completely renovated. I’ve been to properties where “renovations” amounted to not much more than a slopped on coat of paint and old nasty carpet replaced with cheap vinyl flooring. That is not the case here. Whoever owns/manages this property really cares about the product they want to provide. Linens & towels were of good quality and very clean and white. Staff were all very nice and although we had other plans for breakfast, they did offer a very nice breakfast that I believe we would have enjoyed as well. One word of caution concerns the bed offering. A room that offers two double beds is truly DOUBLE beds, not queen. I wrongly assumed that they might actually be queens which were being called double. In my opinion, a double is perfectly fine for one adult, but unless you really like to snuggle with your bed mate, a double is too close for comfort. For my husband and I, who normally share a king bed, this was not ideal. Not the hotel’s fault whatsoever as they were perfectly clear that the room contained 2 double beds. Other than choosing a differently appointed room, we would definitely stay here again.

For the price we paid, I expected better. The room was decent, clean but the bathroom was incredibly small. The breakfast ended at 9am on weekends which honestly is the earliest I've ever had at a motel. The fitness room had only a few machines and the hot tub was broken when we arrived. The elevators and halls constantly smelled like weed and there were times when I didn't feel particularly safe. If I was traveling alone, I think I'd find another place. It was conveniently located but I think I'd stay someone else in the future.

Quiet area. Hotel was clean. Breakfast was an epic failure, very little offered, and waffle maker was not functioning. But we went to the Original pancake house every morning instead and it was awesome! It is a couple of blocks down from the hotel. I searched on Trip Advisor for a hotel with a pool and hot tub specifically because I knew we were going to be doing a lot of walking and would need especially the hot tub at the end of the day. I chose this place because it had both, to find out when we got there, the hot tub was awaiting parts!

We stayed here for 2 nights. staff was very friendly. we first got our room on ground floor which usually we don't like and asked for a change. the front desk tried everything to help us to change on other floor. they were really full to capacity (people came without reservation and they had to turn them away) but they managed to find us something to our like.
the room was very clean including beds toilet sinks etc. bed was comfortable with enough pillows. every thing worked properly.

From the moment we stepped into the Sleep Inn, we were treated like royalty. From the fluffiest, softest pillows to the comfy beds, our rooms were immaculate.
Shower had great pressure and plenty of hot water. But, the most unforgettable, amazing feature is the staff here. Every single one was hard working and friendly.
They went all out for the eclipse with theme candy in the lobby every day, to goodie bags and even an eclipse luncheon catered from Wegman’s.
Lorne, Jackie 1, Jackie2, and the manager made us feel welcome and respected. They gave us suggestions for restaurants, food delivery, took photos for us and even gave us directions to avoid traffic. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful!
And thank you Sleep Inn for hiring such an Incredible staff!!!

Hi Tracey, At this time, we do not have guest laundry on property. There is a coin operated facility a mile away from our hotel. However, if you would like, we can arrange for our hotel to wash the uniforms overnight and have them ready by morning. Please call the hotel at 716-691-6510 and I can help you arrange it for the team. We look forward to having your team stay with us! - Brianna Mango Front Office Manager Sleep Inn Amherst

Hi, how easy is it to go to Toronto from your hotel?
Answer from Angie M
Cheektowaga, New York
Hello AlfAldana, It is super easy to get to the Sleep Inn from Toronto! Depending on your highway preference you would simply follow the QEW through Canada to your boarder crossing of choice and then take I-190 to I-290. We are located right off of the Niagara Falls Blvd. It would take an hour and a half depending on traffic and boarder crossing times. If you require additional information please call us directly at the hotel at (716) 691.6510. We hope to see you soon!
