Small things are important. Mostly problems with the room and housekeeping. After a minor spill in one of my toiletries case I had to soak several items in hot water, for an entire day. Came back and not only were they removed from the sink, the discarded, now dirty case was placed back on the active shelf and the plastic...

We had an enjoyable overnight stay at Takayama Kanko Hotel. The Japanese style bedrooms were big and there was a separate cozy tea room. The toilet was rather spacious for Japanese standard with an attached bathroom overlooking the town area. The hotel served one of the best kaiseki dinner among the ryokans I stayed through and breakfast was delicious with...

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The Japanese style room was spacious and very authentic. The public and private onsen were all beautifully presented. The breakfast was the best we have had in Japan! There was a different main dish every day and they also offered good Western alternatives. The shuttle bus provided good...

You'll love the view over Takayama from this hotel (but maybe not the walk up there as we found out) but if you're expecting a traditional ryokan experience, you'll not find it here. Essentially this is modern Japanese hotel. Which is fine, there's nothing wrong with that, but it's not ryokan. You will be sleeping on the floor on a...

This is a place to be if you're looking for a winter hideaway with your loved one. Pretty and quiet spa retreat on the top of the hill, with spectacular setting in the winter. Hotel staff are friendly, resourceful and happy to help us with our day activities. Rooms are immaculately clean! We choose a mix of traditional and western...

A beautiful view, the rooms were well presented and the foyer was homely and lovely. Nestled on the hillside with our own balcony, a view from the bath and comfy tatami mats as beds. The food was so good, we had a banquet for dinner and had the breakfast in the main food hall. We had lots of local cuisine,...

We arrived in the hotel room, greeted by a couple of snacks and hot water ready to go. It was a traditional Japanese style room with an excellent view of Takayama. We put on our robes and headed to the ping pong room. There's free wifi in the lounge and lobby areas of you need it. There are a bunch...

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The room is large, tatami style with private bathroom and a lounge area. The tea leaves offered with tea pots were surprisingly good. Bedding has been pre made as we arrived late in the evening - very comfortable especially after getting into the onsen. The location is a bit far from the centre...

We had a large room on the second floor with a fabulous view of the city. We arranged for the dinner and it was one of the best meals we had in Japan. Since the hotel is out of town, the shuttle service was convenient and the staff super friendly. We loved our stay here.
